  1. No, one has nothing to do with the other. They have no idea when the guys drafted this year will be ready for MLB, and they know most of them won't ever get there. Look no further than Ray. Most believed he was the best bat coming out two years ago, and he's scuffling along in AA. The players drafted this week simply have absolutely nothing to do with the current MLB club, or the system in general for that matter.
  2. Thanks, if he has a plus curve maybe a FB in the low 90s would play just fine at the MLB level. I know who he is, but really hasn't done anything all that special until this year. We need a lot of options for the pen moving forward, so the more guys who are at least possible additions can't hurt. *Edit* Especially since we aren't drafting any pitchers apparently ; )
  3. Tell me more about Mr. Olczak. Is he a potential addition to the Brewers pen? He's 24, so not exactly young (or old) for AA. This season he has put up some pretty impressive numbers: 1.30 ERA .867 WHIP 30/5 K/BB 9.8 K/9 Not sure if he has an out pitch, throws hard, electric stuff...or just a crafty guy who has figured out how to get AA hitters out.
  4. They have been doing this already. I don't think it's as simple as going with either 4 or 5 all year, but there have been times (including right now) that they've used 4 when there's an off day to help them out. That has allowed them to have an extra arm in the pen, or an extra bat when the DH is in play.
  5. If that happened in the ASG, it would have happened in his next appearance in a "real" game. His elbow doesn't know it's an ASG or regular season game. In fact, pitching an inning in the ASG keeps him on a regular schedule. One could argue having at least 4 days off in a row and then pitching could be an even greater risk.
  6. I agree with what's already been said, but I'll add a response to this part. First, as Adam said, Anderson is not an Ace. What kind of message was sent? That they're putting players in the best position to win games. And, by the way, I'll take a wild guess and say all of this was discussed with Anderson and the rest of the pitching staff back in ST or earlier. Chase Anderson had a really good season last year and parlayed that into a nice new contract. That's the only message he cares about.
  7. That's my guess! I don't mean to be a jerk about it, but I don't see the point in predicting, it's just a guess. We don't know the pitching match-ups, if the opposing teams will be hot at that time, and most of all injuries. So throw out a number that ends up being "right" is really coincidence more than anything else.
  8. Not really atypical anymore. High fastballs are in. As for Roegner, 25 is old for A ball regardless of where he's from. Doesnt mean he can't make it, but we'll see how he does on Biloxi, which will be soon.
  9. If you don't like the NBA, I wont convince you otherwise. Some points are legit, others really are not. But it's like convincing someone baseball is not boring. Why bother. But if you don't enjoy watching Giannis, then you're probably just not a basketball fan period.
  10. That's my vote. Contrary to popular belief, not every move CC makes is either genius or moronic. I was fine either way, even fine if Knebel started the inning. CC knows way more about each player and the bigger picture than we do.
  11. I can't fathom how nerve-wracking a game like this is going to be in the NLCS against the Cards or Cubs.
  12. Game plan for today: Guerra 6 Hader 3 Win 1-0 and get out of town. Hader hasn't pitched in a while, if he's cruising after 2 just let him go 3.
  13. Who would have guessed Nicolet was once good at a sport other than tennis?
  14. Peralta can walk guys too, but at least he has nasty stuff in between.
  15. Saladin and Perez looked like the Packers secondary there. Kinda close, but not worth making the play.
  16. .211 in the last two weeks. I don’t have have big problem with Perez starting. Villar has struggled vs. RHP this year...probably wise not to be blinded by one AB. I guess I am pretty neutral on it. You have it switched around. He has struggled against LHP.
  17. Replacing Arcia with Sogard or even Saladino has had almost no impact on scoring more runs. Sogard has done nothing since coming up again. Saladino had a couple big games and hasn't really done anything since.
  18. Yea, way too early to say it was a great trade for the Brewers. At the very least it looks like the Brewers got what they wanted. Just far too early to know if it will be as good of a trade as the Gomez/Fiers trade was. THAT was great trade, will probably end up being exceptional. And yea, I won't be happy if the four traded away all become HOF players. That would mean it was a horrible trade.
  19. Look at this rotation. Consider the numbers, sure, but just look at the names too. NL best record with an entirely mediocre staff. Plus, you have Thames, Braun, Santana, Pina, and Arcia/any SS who are capable of offering more than they have. That's a lot of room to get even better on paper, and really not much in the way of regression candidates. Maybe Aguilar a little, may be the bullpen a little. So while I don't expect them to finish with their current winning %, a lot of reasons to be optimistic they can stay pretty close to that.
