  1. It's becoming clear with Villar he needs to avoid LHP as much as possible. He is actually hitting .756 vs RHP this season, including the slow start. He has some pop, I have no doubt slugging% will increase. Even last season he slugged higher than this. The way he's going, if used almost exclusively vs RHP, I can see him hitting around .775 this season. May even be a bit conservative, but the way this team is built if he can do that I'm fine.
  2. I don't see any downside to that. Saladino is playing great, while Arcia has been among the least valuable players in baseball this year. If the Brewers are going to make a serious run this year, I don't think Saladino is the answer, but Arcia doesn't deserve to play ahead of him right now. And a trip to the minors could spark a change for the better. There's no cookie-cutter approach for a struggling hitter. Obviously Arcia needs to improve. I'm just not so sure a trip to the minors is the best route. Sending him down may actually reinforce his bad habits, especially if he goes to CS. Maybe a better approach is to play Saladino more, and continue working with Arcia in the cage. It's not sexy, but it's possible just being with the MLB team, working with coaches that have been with him the last couple years is the way to go. I think when a player's confidence is suffering, a trip to the minors to get the bat going is usually a good idea. Arcia does not lack confidence, safe to say. I would try sitting him for 2-3 days at a time, then playing him 2-3 days, and hope/wait for him to start hitting. Pretty much what they did down the stretch last year too.
  3. No. It proves batting order means very little. In fact, who knows, if Perez was lower in the line-up maybe they only score 5 runs today. Those who have a cow every single day about who is in the line-up and where have WAY too much angst about it. And have been wrong 31 times now. This isn't like the Packers without Rodgers or the Bucks without Giannis. If a couple bench bats play it's not an automatic loss. If Suter starts a game it's not an automatic loss. In fact, there's almost an exact correlation between how much people in the IGT complain on page 1 vs wins. The more and louder the complaints are, increases odds they win the game. Waiting for Fangraphs to publish a chart on this any time now.
  4. Line-up today is horrible. Suter is horrible. Chalk this one up as an automatic loss. Sincerely, Everyone on the first page of IGT
  5. They will win 91.5 games, but lose the division to the surprising Reds. But they beat the Cardinals in a one game WC playoff at Miller Park by turning the scoreboard ribbons up to 11. What happens after that is too soon to tell.
  6. So you just don't want her asking anyone any questions? Actually, no. It rubs me the wrong way when a player has a huge moment and barely has 5 seconds to enjoy it with the team before there's a mic in his face. In football, there's at least a purpose (in theory) to having a sideline reporter. They can find out about injuries. I don't understand having a sideline reporter in baseball at all. Sophia seems to be fine I guess, I just don't feel like I "know" her like Uek, Rock, Brian, Auggie, etc. They all have their shortfalls, but at least watching/listening to them every day there's a connection there. With Sophia, there's just nothing there. Just feels like she's acting like a reporter instead of just being herself. That said, yea I don't really care. Thread was here, so that's my 2 cents.
  7. I don't understand this fascination with her ability to communicate in Spanish. You can ask a player "So how did that feel to hit a walk-off HR?" in any language, and I don't need to hear the answer. Or the question for that matter.
  8. If only it was as easy as telling a player not to swing at balls. Corey Hart would have been a multiple All-Star and Weeks may be in the HOF. It's like telling a pitcher he's at his best when he doesn't give up any walks or hits. As for Arcia, they addressed one problem, getting rid of most of the pre-pitch movement. It's also obvious they're drilling opposite field into him. He just hits way too many ground balls, and I'm sure they've been working on that too. Hitting consistently at the MLB level is tough, we all know that, but we have to remind ourselves it's VERY difficult. You see the start guys like Goldschmidt have, as one quick example. And he's an All-Star. Arcia does have a quick bat, so there's reason for hope. And, obviously, still very young. All you can do is keep working with him the cage and hope for the best. Maybe he gets hot later in the year, and in the playoffs.
  9. It's just semantics. They let Hader close a game a couple days ago. In the old way of doing things, they would have brought Knebel in to close in the 9th. There will be times, like last night, where it's just natural to have Knebel close the game. Depending on how the bullpen is set up that day, game situation, etc. But Hader will continue to finish games, and even Jeffress will get a close here and there when Knebel isn't available.
  10. I have no problem with doing things differently, but this just seems like changing something for the sake of change. Trying to be too cute. I think the next step is continue to expand the length of outings for the relief pitchers. Every time a relief pitcher enters the game, there's a chance he doesn't "have it" that night. So when you use 4-5 guys, you're just increasing the odds one of them blows up. There have been games where Jeffress, Hader, Jennings, Albers, etc. have been cruising. Just give them another inning. Especially in games where you're behind or up 2-3 runs. Just continue to expand on this, with the goal being more innings with less appearances for each pitcher. This, in theory, should help keep them fresh at the end of the season and playoffs.
  11. What scares me is trying to figure anything out at the major league level...period. No confidence? He literally says "I'm confident I'll turn it around." As far as "figuring things out at the MLB level," every MLB player does this every day to one degree of another. It's a game of adjustments. I have no investment in Logan, at all. If he fails, move on to the next. But this is way too early to determine that, and he was used the way he should be used on Sunday. Against a string of LH. You just can't have a reliever in the pen you only use when you're up or down 8 runs.
  12. Drunk thread 1/2 v2.3? No math ton8gjt, except home runs bombs Aguilar 2. Oh yes math 101 baby, I got this but please nomore
  13. This bag oof tarrolo chips Is bs. What so I get, 6 full chips??!!?
  14. LogansucksVillarwithanothererrorSuterwasluckythisteamsucks.
  15. Hopefully, it will when Anderson/Davies come back. Anderson Davies Chacin Woodruff Peralta Looks perfectly fine to me. But it is wishful thinking I'm sure. Guerra? Also, yea I don't want Suter starting either but he's a better #7/8 type starting pitcher than what we had the last how many years.
  16. eight on the major league disabled list, and mauricio dubon and jacob nottingham on the 7-day minor league disabled list. not super ideal for depth at the moment. Yea, but Franklin, Asher, Bandy, Sogard can easily be taken off if it comes to that.
  17. No. Time, rest, rehab mean little to nothing at this point. He had all off-season yet was still late for ST. Then he had nagging injuries then already. Sat for a while, still had nagging injuries at the start of the season. 10 days means nothing. As soon as he swings, or runs, or pretty much anything it can, has, and will put him right back in the same situation again. There really is no such thing in his case has "getting better" health-wise. This is the theory I hear all the time, just play him when he's healthy. It's not going to happen. Just live with the fact this roster will stand at 24 1/2 for much of the next three years. All we can hope is he has stretches where he hammers the ball and helps win some games. And maybe, just maybe, with any luck that will be in September/October.
  18. Ugh. I mean, everyone pretty much knew it was coming, but still, ugh. While there are no guarantees it would have ended any differently, there is a possibility that the team's mishandling of Braun and the 10-day DL could very well have cost them the game on Tuesday. There was no way Bandy should have ever been used as a pinch hitter, but he was forced into that role during Braun's latest "day-to-day" episode. Braun has never been a fast healer, so I think this was pretty clear roster mismanagement that proved costly. This is exactly what I've been trying to explain. There is no such thing as Braun "healing" any injury. These are chronic problems with his back, calf, thumb, fill in the blank. He can go on the 10 day DL once or 20 times over the next three years and it doesn't change anything. The day he returns from the DL his back or whatever else could act up again. You simply can't put him on the 10 day DL every time something is bothering him, because something will always be bothering him. It will always ALWAYS be a tough call on when to ride it out and when to bite the bullet and DL him.
  19. Nottingham is on the AAA DL with an intercostal strain. Sounds like he won't be back in the immediate future. Well... crap. There goes that idea. I'm all for Choi to alternate with Aguilar (I do believe his greatest usage is vs lefties, and as a PH, where he shines the most). Yea, I check out the MiLB forum every day and somehow missed that one! Then yea, I agree, give Choi some run and see what happens. And I'm still calling for Bethancourt to get a shot, we've seen enough of what Bandy can do. (Or to be precise, what he can't do.)
  20. I don't really care since I pay little attention to the sideline reporting, and there's very little of it. What I do think is kind of weird is when a player has a dramatic moment, maybe a walk-off HR or something and Sophia has a mic in their face like 10 seconds later. Give them some time to enjoy and savor the moment! Not saying it's Sophia's fault, I'm sure that's what she's told to do. My biggest complaint with the entire broadcast is that they only air a little bit of CC presser. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I much rather hear/watch the entire press conference every night than hear Auggie babble on about the bahwclub.
  21. The other thing is, do we know for a fact that trade would have been accepted by the Dodgers? I have my doubts. Yes, there were several sources that named the same players but these rumors are easily spread when started by even one person. Whether it be Braun's agent, someone in the front office of either team, whatever. Lots of trades are discussed, and some even get pretty serious. But again, I'm still not convinced this was a done deal if the Brewers agreed to Puig/McCarthy.
  22. Would it make more sense to bring up Nottingham for the MN series? He could DH all three games, and have a better chance of generating some offense than Phillips or Choi. After that series you can send Nottingham down, and bring up Phillips or Choi. Or.... Tyrone Taylor?
  23. Funny, my wife just commented about her recently. She thinks she's trying too hard to come off a certain way, instead of being herself. So now I notice that too. I feel like I really don't know "who she is."
