  1. I'll try to eliminate 12 pages of posts. 1) Yes, there are a ton of Cubs fans at the game. 2) Yes, many are obnoxious. 3) No, there's nothing that can be done about it. Carry on.
  2. Nobody ever said this series would be gluten- free!
  3. They need a pitcher for a day. So they could do what they've done in the past. Send Williams down, bring Peralta/Houser up for a day. Then the next day, option Peralta/Houser, bring up Archer or whoever else. This is how they've been able to get by with a 12 man pitching staff for most of the year. (Plus, this is all assuming no injuries along the line.)
  4. You know, I just realized Sogard may just survive all this. Miller/Saladino up, Arcia/Santana down. Wouldn't it be both amazing and depressing if Sogard somehow survives all the roster moves again.
  5. I agree with all that for the most part, but I think you're putting to much weight on random comments by BA and Rock. Coles could very well be working with Arcia on pitch selection. Also, it's not as easy as "swing at strikes and don't swing at balls." That's why some players are better than others, otherwise everyone would hit .300 hitter. Again, I agree with you on the focus on pitch selection part, but it's not as easy as just telling a player to do it.
  6. Maybe because there's a lot of options, and not one obvious solution. Not sure drafting a HS SS in the 1st round has much to do with that plan. I do agree he can even be lower than middle of the pack offensively at SS, basically a little better than what he was last year.
  7. Not sure why everyone is using different ways to say the same thing, Arcia is lost at the plate. No kidding. The discussion is about what they do long term at SS.
  8. I wonder if they will consider giving Houser a spot start? He's been pitching well in Colorado Springs, and getting stretched out again as a starter. I would imagine he could give them 5 innings/80 pitches, which seems to be about the norm Counsell is looking for out of the starters. That is very possible. I don't think they would have him starting in CS if they weren't planning on using him as a starter in Milwaukee at some point.
  9. Good examples, JJ Hardy is another. There's no guarantee Arcia will ever turn it around. My guess is Dubon is the insurance policy, and they would give him some run before going outside the organization. That's long term. Short term, Arcia needs to go down for a while and figure some things out.
  10. It's a long season. Obviously Albers doesn't look right, but he was very effective most of the year, and could very well get it back. Most BP arms are not Hader, they're just not going to be lights-out for 6 months. Logan on the other hand has never looked good this year, Jennings really hasn't for quite a while either. I don't think Derby or Perrin are the answers you're looking for. Houser, Ramirez, Torres-Costa could be better options though. At least worth trying. Until/unless Albers gets it back, Williams should be seen as the 4th best guy, then Barnes/Houser. Round out the pen with Ramirez and Torres-Costa to see what they can do, and keep your eyes open for other options as the season goes on. The pen is always a work in progress.
  11. Impossible to know if he is a great hitting coach or awful one. I don't know how you can evaluate pitching and hitting coaches since we know so little about what they do every day. That said, I have no problem replacing him tomorrow. I think pro sports teams in general hang on to coaches too long. Discussion gets into does "so and so" deserve to be let go or not. Who cares, it's not about whether they deserve to be let go. Sometimes it just helps to shake things up and try something new.
  12. We'll be lucky to beat them 4 times over the course of this entire season, much less in one 7 game series. That's why sports are entertaining. Anything can happen, and often does.
  13. Who would you have brought in? Someone who it's impossible to prove that they wouldn't have given up a bomb too.
  14. Love it, will be even sweeter beating these guys in October
  15. Could the Brewers save time and just concede those 3 outs, like they do now with IBB?
  16. Cubs have same situation with their pen too. Plus, wouldn't surprise me if Hader and/or Knebel are still available tomorrow.
  17. Amazing how people see different things. Cain was in deep CF and threw a one hop almost right on the bag. Villar dropped it. As BA pointed out, Villar has cleaned up his fame a lot this year. But he does struggle at times with throws from catcher, OF, etc. Routine play, he dropped it. Doesnt mean he sucks, doesn't mean he's always screwing up every night.
  18. A must win?? Not even close. Take a deep breath 100 more games to go.
  19. Yes, the bullpen gave up one run in a game. Season is over.
  20. Which means we'll but up 8 against Quintana. Because, baseball.
  21. So, you're hinting at. Why not just come right and out say it? You want to bring Drake back for this series!
