  1. Have visited Cincy many times, not a fan. Personal preference I know, just a weird place- and yes, Cincy chilli sucks. BUT, they hate the Cards, so all is forgiven.
  2. I heard McDonalds makes a good fish sandwich?
  3. Don't call me, not leave a voice mail, then call later and ask "why didn't you call me back?" This is 2014 people, if you don't leave a message it's like your call never happened.
  4. I'm somewhat familiar with the Advertising field. Forget obsessing about the resume. Yes, you need to send them- it's worth a try. However, 99% chance you can keep sending them and nothing will happen. Didn't you intern somewhere in college? Are you on LinkedIn, and joined the Milw, Madison, and Chicago groups? Doesn't each city have an association, or professional group of some kind that had regular outings? Bottom line, entry jobs are filled with people who interned for these firms in college. Plus, and sorry but this is just true, preference is for attractive females. Not looking to stir up controversy, it's just true. Why not start your own business? Offer your services for free or nominal amount and build a client base and portfolio. Before long, you can start charging more. You can also now approach agencies with a client list you can bring to them. Another idea, you are in a creative field so....be creative. Sending resumes to HR depts. is not creative. Think outside the box. Look at the client list of the place you're applying and put together a press release, or print ad, radio ad...whatever for one of their clients. Show them what you can do! Find the creative people in the agency, not PR. Lots of different ways to get noticed, don't be afraid to get a little crazy, yet stay professional. Nothing to lose right?
  5. Did anyone notice at the end of the regulation (or 1st OT can't remember which) Score tied, 10 second left. Derek Wilson practically walks the ball up the court and left no time for a decent shot. Why didn't he sprint up the court to start the offense? I couldn't believe it. Wait- I can. I don't know what happened to Buzz this year. We can always 2nd guess playing time here and there with any team, any year. But the way Buzz passed out minutes this year was baffling. Including his attempt to go offense/defense the entire game. I mean, who does that? Side effect of all this, I'm expecting Johnson and/or Dawson to transfer.
  6. Just my opinion, but I think this year's Oscars just proved what a poor year it was. Captain Phillips was picture of the year from the ones I've seen. I thought 12 Years a Slave and The Wolf of Wall Street were good movies, not great. American Hustle and Gravity were ok- that's it. (Gravity's visuals were stunning, deserved the technical awards.) Haven't seen the others.
  7. I'm afraid you may be right. And if that's the case, it will be another long year. Mayo needs to be on the court, but the other two offer almost nothing. Sorry, but a PG who shoots under 50% from the line and under 0% from 3 point land doesn't quite cut it. He's not exactly a great distributor either.
  8. Buzz really blew this season. Not like this team would have been a Final 4 team no matter what, but they should have been a tourney team as least. There is no reason for Juan Anderson or Derek Wilson to be on the court, other than mop-up minutes. If Burton, Taylor, Dawson, and J Johnson took those minutes, they would have slipped into the tourney. No question in my mind.
  9. I suggested this as one of several things he could do back when this all started. As owbc said though, it is too late now. I won't say he SHOULD have done it, but it would have helped his image- if only marginally.
  10. Can't believe I'm defending Hammond, but yeah, he has done a very good job on draft day IMHO. Guys like Wolters and Meeks in the 2nd round are couple more example, besides the ones listed above. Building the team has been his problem, but we don't know how much Kohl has to do with that. For example, last year Kohl may have told him he wants to try to make the playoffs. Wish I knew how that dynamic works, becuase otherwise Hammond has made some horrific roster moves.
  11. So glad the Governor plot line is finished. That went on way too long. (Same for the prison, IMHO.) More interesting now that they're out in the world again, and separated in these clusters. Adds to the drama of who will find each other, what/who they run into, etc.
  12. I think right around 7 now. So that's only 3 teams to jump. No way anyone catches them from behind if they win out, SOS is just too strong. I think Syracuse/Duke/VA will take care of itself. So you have Wichita, ACC, AZ, Kansas, Florida. Two of those would need to fall out, and there's enough time for that to happen. Either way, they would still be a high #2 which isn't that different from the last #1 seed anyhow.
  13. I still think Wisc gets a #1 seed if they run the table. Can't ignore the RPI and SOS numbers. Plus, committee always looks at how a team finishes. So, if Wisc ends up winning their last 9 conf games, then wins the Big Ten tourney, I think they get the #1. Yea, it's a big "if" but possible. Especially if a couple other top seeds lose in their conf tourneys. I've noticed that conf tourneys have meant more in recent years.
  14. I don't like the word "untouchable." If OKC wants to trade Durant for Giannis, I wouldn't call back and say "no thanks, he's untouchable." Extreme example I know, but you get the idea. If a deal makes sense, you do it- no matter who is involved. Yea, it's funny how Ersan's name always comes up. He would be a nice piece for a playoff team, but can't imagine anyone giving up a 1st rounder for him- especially this year. But I would take anything for him and Mayo just to move their contracts. Will be shocked if Neal and Butler aren't traded. Beyond those two guys, Ridnour is the only other guy that may move.
  15. Agreed Monty. The Brewers aren't the fed govt, they can't just print money. They can't lose money year after year. But they can lose money every once in a while without the sky falling. I will differ with one thing you said, that the Brewers value woudn't be high if they were losing money every year. Not entirely true. A big part of the value of the franchise is the BREWERS, not necessarily the MILWAUKEE Brewers.
  16. Love the downhill skiing and hockey. A dash of ski jumping, bobsled, luge, speed skating. But have no interest in figure skating, cross country skiing, or some of the other events. Not that I don't have tremendous respect for how talented these people are in other sports, I jsut don't want to watch it.
  17. It's why I said "right now." No, I don't think UW-GB is overall a better team than Wisc. I do think they're very close to Marquette. (In fact, RPI has Green Bay higher than Marquette.) I said that while WIsc was losing several games, including NW at home. I'm no big UW-GB fan or anything, just wanted to give them some love because there's very little talk about them. Wisc, they can still get the #1 seed if they win out. NOT predicting they will, just saying with their RPI and SOS if they win out they will probably be a #1 seed. Commitee likes teams that come on string at the end, especially htose that win their conf tourney. MU's best way in is still to win the Big East tourney. If they don't do that, they have to at least make it to the champ game, and only lose probably one more reg season game. Anything other than that, and I don't think they make it in. Of course, it depends what other bubble teams do also.
  18. You also have to consider the value of the franchise, not just how much money is made/lost in any given year. To use an extreme example, if the value of the Brewers has gone up $100MM since Mark A bought the franchise, doesn't matter much is he loses $2MM on the balance sheet in any given year.
  19. It's a long season, so I'm not too concerned what they do to start the year. Same thing as 2B with Weeks/Scoot for that matter. Ultimately, production (or lack thereof) will determine if someone plays full time, if the splits make sense to platoon, etc. Heck, maybe Morris tears it up in Spring and gets the job on Opening Day. There are options, and that's all I care about at this point. I'm just glad they didn't spend a ton at the postition.
  20. Better shooter than Derrick Wilson? There hasn't been much said about the Wardle allegations this year. It has pretty much blown over. This is nothing more than my opinion, but I can see Buzz moving on soon and Wardle replacing him at MU.
  21. UW-GB is the best team in the state right now, and the most exciting to watch.
  22. I would love that, and actually in a lot of the mock draft they have him going at the top of the 2nd round. So, in theory, the Bucks could get Jabari Parker, CJ Fair, AND trade into the middle of the 1st for another stud. They have a bunch of 2nd round picks to trade, along with current players, picks in future years, etc. CJ Fair has really fallen, I think if he would have come out last year he would be in the mix for rookie of the year. Now this draft his name isn't even mentioned.
  23. Bottom line, Bucks need everything. Yea, they need a scorer but that's easier to get than a true center who is really good on both ends of the court. (Not saying Embiid is or will be.) But if they really believe he will, then it's hard not to go that way. This is one step at a time, no matter who they take they still have a long way to go. If the draft was today, I would take Parker.
  24. High treason to say probably, but I never thought Ryan is that good of a game coach. I think he uses the "just let them play" approach and whatever happens, happens. Refusal to mix in zone, FINALLY uses the press more, didn't use Koenig to see if he could spark the offense, let them keep shooting 3s instead of penetrating, could go on and on. Minn and Michigan losses I can take. But there's just no way they should have lost the NW or IN games.
  25. I think Exum has as much chance to be a superstar as Wiggins personally. Embiid has the highest ceiling, but a lower floor than Parker, Wiggins, Exum, or even Smart. If Embiid can be a complete player at both ends of the floor, not many of those guys in the NBA. I just fear if he somehow ebded up a SPur he will be a superstar, but as a Buck he will never develop. Can't help it, it's how I feel.
