  1. Scott just may be player of the game. Half blue, but field position was huge tonight.
  2. Yes it was, and stupid play by a veteran.
  3. Stupid challenge
  4. No mystery Bears are blitzing on 3rd down. Screen, roll out, go 5 wides...try something different. A couple week holding calls have really hurt drives. Defense does look quick, yet very stout up front. How nice to see safeties within 30 yards of the line.
  5. Jersey rules: 1) Week before the first game is not a time to spend even a minute thinking about your jersey number. 2) I love retro jerseys, but would never wear one. I'm a fan, not a player. (Love the retro Chargers and Oilers for example.) 3) Above all else, you can't get a Packers #69 jersey with your name on it. Strictly forbidden.
  6. Larry Sanders is out there, they're still paying him anyhow.
  7. He is, but MLB'er and RB are the two easiest positions to play early on. And he's probably only going to be out there for a small number of plays this week vs the Bears. I don't remember Nagy using a FB. I know Burton can move around like an H-back. But Pettine will probably play Greene next to Martinez as he doesn't use that Will backer very often unless the other team has two backs on the field. Thrilled to see they were able to retain some of the more high priority guys to the practice squad. We're likely going to need a couple. Problem is, other teams may need them as well. That's always the danger of putting a player on the PS instead of the 53. You know already this I'm sure, but just pointing it out for others because I run across a lot of people who aren't aware they are not protected.
  8. You said the same thing before the season started. He was going to start opening day, be the ace, his breaking stuff is better then ever. Really is astounding you haven't learned from that, but I guess I've learned there is no middle ground with you. When you play poker, do you either fold immediately or go all in on every hand?
  9. Hit and run is dead, just like sac bunts. Analytics show giving up outs on the basepaths is not a good idea. Especially these days when K rates are so high across MLB. So if you don't like CC, you're not going to like any other manager. Just guessing but I'm sure that's not your only beef with CC, probably something about bullpen use. Yet he has the team on the fringe of playoff contention with a -35 run differential. As long as he gets a mulligan from you though, CC will sleep well tonight. Of course his bullpen decisions have not been good, I think most would agree. With the right personnel, it is done, the Braves and pirates as an example. I was bringing it up because, as bad as this team is at getting runners to cross home plate without benefit of the home run, maybe just maybe what have we got to lose by changing things up, like I said maybe mentally it can help the batter? I’d hit and run with Grisham. Maybe the worst RISP batters Moose Cain Arcia, it could help? No, most wouldn't agree. Just a handful of fans that believe they would make better decisions than a MLB Manager, coaching staff, analytics dept, and an entire advanced scout team.

  11. I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you, that you've changed your position again in less than a day. Real question is, what if he goes "all in" but doesn't extend Hiura 8 years? Does he still have to go? Asking for a friend.
  12. Yea, #1 is a favorite in the IGTs with no basis of fact. Arcia and now Hiura play all rye rime, while the crappy veteran Perez hardly ever gets a start. #2 is typical fan stuff, how a manager should act a certain way, as if that matters whatsoever. True, having CC go all Earl Weaver would be entertaining but it wouldn't win any games.
  13. That looks pretty consistent to me, and I would bet if you pick any random three game stretch from any contender it would be very similar. Plus, you realize Cain is battling injuries. They are simply not changing the line-up anywhere near as much as you think they are, and no more than any other team. You can tell by the number of ABs the bench guys have had- Gamel, Perez, etc.
  14. You also have a better chance to get Yelich one more AB each game batting him 2nd vs 3rd.
  15. Yea, I have no idea who you believe is being "yanked around." You do understand Braun has quite a few planned days off throughout the year? And Thames/Aguilar were in a platoon? Can't think of anyone else you could even be referring to. I hope you don't think guys just show up to the park and see they're not in the lineup. This "yanking guys around" thing is pretty baffling to me. Bullpen, I won't bother debating because every manager in the history of the game has had people questioning bullpen use. You say the decisions last year were easy, and they were. This year is the opposite, it's like the russian roulette of crap. Anyhow, this is a debate that can't be won. Agree to disagree. The last part about CC not caring, the players not caring, etc. is really foolish. I'm sorry, but it really is shear foolishness.
  16. So you want two TOR starters, an OF, 3 bullpen arms, and extend Yelich. I think we all want that, but they're not going to roll with a $200MM+ payroll next year. Just accept the fact the Brewers will always be a team that needs a bit of luck each season, they can't go out and buy a player to fill every hole they have. This year, Grandal and Moose were there to be had, and they have produced what was expected. But that meant things needed to go right with 2/3 of Woodruff/Burnes/Peralta. Also meant Chacin staying at least close to what he did in 2018. Well, none of that worked. So the bullpen took the brunt of that. Sprinkle in Cain's disapointing season and here we are. I just don't accept the premise that Stearns made big mistakes. He created potent line-up that should be scoring more runs, but aren't due to horrific RISP hitting. With an empty wallet, time to see of the young guns could get it done. Obviously that didn't work. Then again, many of the starting pitchers he could have gone after would not have worked out either. If anything, Stearns needs to be held accountable if they can't start producing pitchers from his own system. To soon to hang him for that yet, but this has been the Brewers biggest problem since, well, forever.
  17. Actually, nobody is bringing up Braun except for you. There's nothing to really talk about, he has one more year on his contract and we move on. What else is there to say? You think his last contract extension was a good deal, nobody else does. Of course he had his best two seasons then, he was in his prime and roiding.
  18. No offense treego, but I rather read more posts about canning Stearns. If it worked last night I might feel differently.
  19. Moose 2-18 vs Wacha. Not sure if that's the reason or not though.
  20. Thing is, with this new trend of bullpen shuttle more players than ever are getting their shot. If they're good enough they'll stay, that's on them. I think most players understand that.
  21. Through 3 seasons of The Wire, outstanding. Never had HBO, so sometimes takes a while to circle back to watch their shows, no idea why it took me THIS long though. Probably a top 5 all time series for me.
  22. Next time there's a Brewers pitcher who throws less than 95% fastballs we can re-visit this.
  23. Seems like everyone is in the middle ground except one person. I don't see anyone claiming mistakes weren't made, or Stearns is above being questioned, etc.
  24. This I will agree with and it was my main concern. You can get guys like Aguilar and Shaw pretty much whenever you want but there's a huge risk in relying on them because they were never really highly touted with great tools that you could consistently rely on. So you get a good couple years out of them and you expect them to continue and then they just fall off. A scorched earth rebuild, while painful is probably more sustainable long term in a market like this than hoping to find a bunch of guys like Shaw and Aguilar to consistently contribute over a number of years. I know we're in the extreme minority here, but I would be fine with a scorched earth rebuild. None of us knows for sure, but I'm guessing something that drastic is a Mark A decision, not Stearns. For all we know that could have been he plan until they had the unexpected success in 2017 already.
  25. So you think Stearns has had a good year? Hasn’t made an inordinate amount of mistakes, from the early rotation to the horrible pitching shuttle to sending Hiura back down to the imbalance of lefty hitters, to keeping a near .530 hitter vs lefties down all year. Oh, almost forgot, letting DJ go. If I had more time to think, I could probably come up with more bad decision making. Isn’t that enough? Early rotation, you mean the rotation you agreed with wholeheartedly? Man, you go overboard with everything. Of course Stearns made mistakes, and he'll make more. But fire him? For not signing Hiura to an 8 year contract? Funny, not long ago you were including Grisham as a player they MUST lock up. But he has cooled off, and so have you. Would not surprise me if Hiura continues to cool off for a few more days you'll be off his bandwagon too.
