  1. I don't think the lineup is that bad. I would prefer McGehee over Wilson(not at SS obviously) but other than that Counsell instead of McGehee or Betancourt against a RHP isn't a bad idea.
  2. I am not sure how much longer homebrew competitions will continue in Wisconsin. I believe they are technically illegal in Wisconsin. There have been 2 fairly recent events where a homebrew club meeting and a charity event involving homebrew were changed or cancelled. I can see a crackdown coming in the near future. My understanding of the law is that you can only brew 100-200 gallons(depending on whether you have one or more adults living at your residence) and it can only be drank at the residence where it was produced.
  3. Not feeling too good about tomorrow's matchup with Sanchez going vs. our #5 (and most likely Nieves catching). But I think Zack gets the W on Monday to make it a 4-3 trip. If RRR plays Nieves tomorrow I am flying down to South Beach to have a sword I like it this way better.
  4. It is. There is a more breathable fabric in the armpit area. As far as I remember(a few years back) the jersey choice was always up to the starting pitcher except on special jersey days.
  5. Nah, he looks like the hitter he was three years ago in 2008. And the hitter he was in 2007. Honestly McGehee was always one of those prime peak guys that you should be careful with. I don't disagree that McGehee should be or should have been replaced before the season. It is just sort of disappointing to see so many people turn on him after a couple bad months.
  6. I completely agree with the second part. CB has been on the manager crap list for years. I can think of a few really bad umps, but I can't think of one worse than CB.Gah, umpire crap list. Randy Marsh and Joe West are up there.
  7. Fickle fans. A couple bad months and now McGehee is not the hitter he was a couple years ago? For shame.
  8. I completely agree with the second part. CB has been on the manager crap list for years.
  9. It was a 3 team race before the season started. I don't see much reason it shouldn't' be now. Wainwright being the only big injury.
  10. At this point I think DM could make a move to do just that. I believe he did in the last week when Boggs went down and we now have Wilson.
  11. I will when a guy is 6 places out of where he should be. Morgan is probably pretty equal to Hart against RHP but is a far better hitter against RHP than Lucroy, McGehee and Betancourt.
  12. Braun missed 20 games combined the last 3 years so I am wondering why you think we will be lucky for him to not miss a couple seasons. He seems to have little injuries like any guy but plays through them pretty well. He is very well conditioned and has never had a history of major injuries. I am not sure why we would assume he will start to be hurt a lot. Now I dont think he is near being talked about as the best ever because of how good Yount was. He has a ways to go before he gets there if he ever does He has had oblique problems for a couple years now. Sure he plays through them. Plays through them well, not so sure about that. He had a couple not so good months last year after being hit by a pitch. You have to worry about his oblique sapping his power at some point. I never said he would be hurt a lot. Every single player is an injury risk. He has to play a very long time to measure up to Yount and Molitor. The odds are not good that he will play that long.
  13. I am not a big Bill Hall fan. Never was never will be. I wouldn't mind picking him up so we have first crack at him for next year as a bench player. As long as he understands that is what he is, a bench player. The fact that he could possibly come in and be the best SS on our team is kind of sad.
  14. Weeks Morgan Braun Fielder Hart McGehee Lucroy Betancourt Gallardo Make it so #1. Don't make it #2.
  15. Let's wait a decade before we make any decisions. I think we will be lucky if Braun is healthy enough to not miss a couple seasons.
  16. I have heard the Lakefront Brewery tour or the Sprecher Brewery tour are the good ones. Try to get to the park at least an hour before the game. Like I said, lots of tailgating going on.
  17. That isn't even close to half the parking. Unless you are going by yourself you have to tailgate. Going to a Miller Park without tailgating is missing a good part of the experience. I am going to 2 of those July games but do not know much more than that. If we are tailgating I will invite you. I kind of doubt we are though. I will second the Safe House. The zoo is also very nice.
  18. Yeah lets get a backup catcher who never stuck anywhere but the minors, can't hit and can't play defense to tutor our young catcher. Good call. I forgot to add, inconceivable.
  19. Yuniesky Betancourt swinging the bat. Yeah BA he's been swinging all season. What doesn't he swing at.
  20. He didn't block the plate. Cousins could have very easily slid directly over the plate without touching Posey at all. If you go back and watch the video again you will see Posey is on his knees outside the batters boxes.(pause it at the 12 second mark) Posey looked like he was going to go for a sweep tag. Was the play legal, sure. Was it clean, I guess. There is little doubt in my mind that Posey didn't want to and didn't try to block the plate.
  21. Considering our bench, that wouldn't be a bad thing.
  22. Loe is terrible against lefties to the tune of something like .200 points of OPS worse than against righties. Votto doesn't kill lefties. He hits them well but not as well as he hits RHP. The main thing a LHP does is severely limits his power. Votto is still a very good hitter against LHP but nowhere near as good as against RHP. A LHP would have greatly decreased the chances of the only possible outcome that we couldn't have happen, a HR. We don't have a LOOGY. That's on Melvin. Of course given his post game comments he may have still stuck with Loe even if we had a LOOGY.
  23. So we optimize Weeks talents by giving more PA to a worse hitter like Hart?
  24. Easy to be nice to the media during your honeymoon period especially when you are winning.
  25. Votto has a better average against lefties. I would have been more concerned with neutralizing Votto's power.
