  1. One day in the majors and the minor league minimum is $82,700
  2. I doubt Obi-Wan is her father. Grandfather maybe.
  3. You think the best prospect in our system is a left-handed Mike Fiers? The topic Clancy responded to was his sleepers, not who the best prospects are. Clancy has ranked Brent Suter as our #1 prospect at least twice now over Arcia.
  4. Only try a few at a time or set your computer to update automatically and leave it on overnight.
  5. That word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
  6. There is absolutely no evidence for this. Peralta is the same mediocre pitcher whether Lucroy or Moldonado is catching. Baseball-reference has splits by catcher and its is basically the same. A 99 OPS+ with Lucroy in 265.1 innings and a 100 OPS+ with Moldonado in 257.2 innings The ERA is different but that is likely more due to the CS% with Lucroy at a mediocre 18% but Moldonado at a unlikely to continue 55%. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=peralwi01&year=Career&t=p Seems to me his era is a full run better this year when Maldy is catching him. More like just under half a run and all the peripherals are nearly identical so I would say that is just noise.
  7. I am sure some of them track high stress innings. I have heard it in the past.
  8. Agreed. Segura had that great first season with the Brewers, and we traded him for some decent pieces. He went through some terrible personal tragedy, and I wish him the best. He had a great first half of a season with the Brewers. He hit for crap after that. 1st Half .325 .363 .487 .849 2nd Half .241 .268 .315 .583
  9. Ruth was head and shoulders better than anyone in the game. Lapped the field. Any comparison to him is ridiculous. Even Bonds was not better than his peers by the order Ruth was to his.
  10. Never forget the sacrifices the Bothans made.
  11. It isn't *just because* or tinkering to tinker though. There is a lot to back up hitting the pitcher 8th.
  12. Many times that pinch hitter will come in with a platoon advantage as well.
  13. I find it hard to believe that anyone can justify ranking them in the bottom half of the league. Even if those publications/websites put more emphasis on more advanced players it seems to me Milwaukee's depth would make up for it. Can you share how the 18, 18, and 20 rankings were justified? If I had to guess I would say high volatility. We have quite a few guys with high ceiling but low floors. They could be stars, busts, or anything in between.
  14. It is a bad idea when you want to win and the other player is clearly better. I'll take talent over experience every time, if your goal is to win.
  15. I would think of it as an assassination if someone got paid to do it.
  16. So a team will create a lot of crappy service industry jobs and taxes.
  17. You should ALWAYS be trying to compete...ALWAYS. You play to win the game. Period. Not really. You do play to win the game but you have to make good use of your finite resources. Throwing money at a guy to win a few extra games when you are at best a .500 team is a bad use of resources. Same thing with keeping the best guys on the MLB team vs burning service time. We are not at a point where we should try to squeeze out every win we can.
  18. Service time is more important than wins.
  19. I think they are closer to 82 wins than 100 losses but I wouldn't put money on either.
  20. A supplemental pick is pretty low. It wouldn't take much to do better than a supplemental pick. If he isn't traded before the end of his contract, someone made a huge mistake.
  21. If Lucroy plays out his contract with the Brewers I will consider that a failure. Huge failure. It would be stupid to hang onto him until then.
  22. I will not be giving a ranking because I just don't know the minor league system that well. I will say though that any ranking that does not have Arcia #1 should be summarily dismissed.
