  1. I happen to know that once you actually get the coals started, it's possible to grill out during in a blizzard in January, grilling season never officially ends! I do not however recommend the experience outside of how much it sucks for the grill master to deal with the weather as the hot dogs, brats, and burgers had a noticeable tint of gasoline because it took so much lighter fluid to combat the wind. However since I was feeding a bunch of starved and drunk young men in their early 20s there were no complaints, they were just happy to be fed. Though now that I'm thinking about it again a propane grill would make the situation much easier... I'm old school on the grilling front, I only use coals. I have both options... but for warmer, less windy times, charcoal's obviously my first choice. I grill about 40 Saturdays a year. Nothing beats grilled food in the middle of winter. Use a chimney to get your charcoal started. No lighter fluid or gas needed. In the winter switch to grilling things like whole chickens(butterflied or beer can) or chicken thighs. With a butterflied chicken(or thighs) you lay it skin down for about half an hour then go out to flip it. Then check back in about 15-20 min before applying BBQ sauce for the last 10 minutes. Minimal outside time really good food. Edit: You might also consider grilling larger pieces of meat. I grilled a roast one night because I didn't want to use the oven. Grilled pork tenderloin is very good. We like the Door County Cherry pork tenderloin.
  2. I wonder how appealing these positions with the Brewers are if they look like the are going with a new GM in the next couple years.
  3. I was at that game too. I still have the score card from it. First time I scored a game at the ballpark.
  4. I think Weeks leaving is kind of the end of an era. He was one of the first in the wave of exciting young players before this team got good.(Hardy was the first full time at the start of 2005 but Weeks made a brief appearance in 2003) Now almost all of those players have left.
  5. They gave up a pick for Lohse. He didn't improve the team enough to put us in the playoffs. The only way that contract is worth it is if he is traded for good young talent. The money on the deal isn't bad. I have little problem with the Garza deal.
  6. He's gone. Everyone says they want to stay then they go where they get the best contract. He even says it isn't his decision.
  7. Losing Weeks at 2B could hurt us quite a bit. At least offensively.I don't think we can expect to get much better production at 2B than we did this year.
  8. I hope they are not at a crossroads. I hope they are at a fork in the road and choose the correct path. They certainly seem lost in the woods right now.
  9. No, but you can bet they were testing Braun more often, and looking for every marker of possible steroid use. Players are tested all the time. The big takeaway from 2012 for me is they are lucky when they actually catch a player from the testing. How many players were suspended without ever failings a test. That is one clinic.
  10. Because testing catches everyone?
  11. He improved in the last 8 years as an infielder while playing the outfield but he didn't in his how many years playing the infield while growing up?
  12. According to Cot's baseball contracts, Braun will make $19 million each year from 2016-18; $18 million in 2019; $16 million in 2020; and $15 million in 2021 with a $4 million buyout. He makes $14.5 million in 2015 - $12 million salary and $2.5 million deferred signing bonus. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/national-league-central/milwaukee-brewers/ Perhaps there's a better place for salaries, but I always thought Cot's was the best. I am well aware of Cot's. I think you missed one big detail in the contract. His salary breaks down like this. 2015 31 Milwaukee Brewers $14,500,000 including $2.5M signing bonus payment 2016 32 Milwaukee Brewers $15,000,000 2017 33 Milwaukee Brewers $15,000,000 2018 34 Milwaukee Brewers $15,000,000 2019 35 Milwaukee Brewers $16,000,000 2020 36 Milwaukee Brewers $13,000,000 2021 37 Milwaukee Brewers *$20,000,000 $20M Mutual Option, $4M Buyout 2022 38 Retired $2,000,000 2023 39 Retired $2,000,000 2024 40 Retired $2,000,000 2025 41 Retired $2,000,000 2026 42 Retired $2,000,000 2027 43 Retired $2,000,000 2028 44 Retired $2,000,000 2029 45 Retired $2,000,000 2030 46 Retired $2,000,000 2031 47 Retired $2,000,000
  13. Last time they kept a guy in the outfield because he couldn't play 1B, Khris Davis.
  14. Braun is never paid more than $15m in any year.
  15. Gamel looked decent at 3B other than his throws. That is what we heard about him coming up as well. Braun just looked bad. Probably because Braun could hit.
  16. I just don't see that. I really don't. Braun is a better athlete than Prince and Braun's problem at 3rd was throwing the ball. 16 of his 26 errors were throwing the ball. How many bad throws were the result of not fielding the ball cleanly because he can't field a ground ball very well? He was bad at everything about fielding at 3B not just throwing. How many balls did he screw up that didn't count as errors? He fielding at 3B was historically bad. Range, throwing, fielding, everything.
  17. I believe, and I could be wrong, that what made him so good was the ability to hit even pitches he shouldn't swing at really hard.
  18. We gave him more than enough rope to hang himself. We're all for people being enthusiastic, but he crossed into trolling territory on many occasions and received multiple warnings. I made my post a little clearer.
  19. Has he even shown his face on here during the last month? He was banned. That's unfortunate. He seemed like the type of fan that would make me cheer against a team. My own team in this case.
  20. Not sure what you mean. The better hitters need to get more PA so you put them closer to the top of the order.
  21. New Dragon Age and new Borderlands coming out. Looking forward to both.
  22. Season 9 now available on Netflix streaming.
  23. If you told me we would be here 10 years ago with all the promising talent we had I would be very disappointed to put it mildly.
  24. I would still be upset. I thought they should have made moves towards a 90 win team in 2016 and beyond instead of building a low 80's win team. The Garza signing wasn't bad but I still hate the Lohse signing, unless they turn him into prospects.
  25. I don't think the franchise is sad, just mediocre. I would like us to take the next step.
