  1. Orphan Black is a big hit with the wife so far. We have been watching the first season on Amazon prime. She seems to like science fiction stuff as long as there is a good story. She liked BSG also. Up until the last season anyway.
  2. Dunn's been horrendous? Looks about average outside of 2011.
  3. I enjoy a few BBC shows and my wife loves Dr. Who. I didn't like the 11th doctor so I kind of tired of the show. I also liked the BBC Office better than the American interpretation. At least while it was airing. Going back I like The Office a little better now than while it was on. Reading a little about Orphan Black it looks interesting.
  4. The weird part is that the markup on those "Smart" TV's is generally more than buying an add on like Roku.
  5. Their pitching should keep them in contention all season, but last year for all of the gushing about just how "clutch" the Cardinals are because of their incredible stats with RISP, it should have been predictable that it couldn't be repeated. They have a good team, but it was fluke more than anything to hit so well lat year with RISP. If something like that was repeatable, we'd see other teams do it over multiple seasons. As i said though, if their rotation stays healthy along with their key position players, i'd be surprised to not see St. Louis in the playoff mix come September. Any rotation with a healthy Wainwright, Wacha, Miller, Lynn, and Kelly should end up winning at minimum 85 games. Even if the Cards offense was average in the clutch they would have still been one of the best offenses in the NL. The difference in runs between the Cards and the next best offense was the same as between the second best offense and the 10th best offense so let's not fall into thinking it was all luck.
  6. I would love to wallow in the failure of the Cardinals but I am sure that would bite us in the butt.
  7. Pittsburgh outplayed their run differential by more than a couple wins last year. Their run differential was more like a low to mid 80's win team. Lose a couple pitchers and they may only be around .500 this year. The Brewers still need most of their position players to stay healthy to compete. So far so good but we have more than a few players with injury concerns.
  8. You can find individual cards on Ebay for a decent price. Even jersey cards. So I wouldn't recommend getting into them expecting any money back.
  9. No because that extra base doesn't help you score to many extra runs since the run was likely to score without the extra base. The loss of the base runner hurts more because you have fewer and that is one less PA.
  10. Getting kicked in the shin hurts less than getting kicked in the balls. But I'd rather not be kicked at all. lol. true. but, I've always like Ishikawa wish we had kept him with us. and yes, he would be better than overbay. In hindsight, yes, keeping Ishikawa would have been the right move. When he signed after the 2012 season we still had Hart and Gamel for the 2013 season. Obviously that didn't work out but at the time it was the right non-move. I don't think he was available this offseason either. I would have preferred him over Overbay.
  11. I don't know. You might be right. I think they can video conference. I believe that may have been what happened a few years back with McClung.
  12. If Cole keeps his mouth shut like he should nothing happens. I think the MLB needs to tell players not to get so bent out of shape be perceived slights. Of course Gomez overreacted but it isn't Cole's place to say anything.
  13. They are making more outs than a lot of other teams. They are middle of the pack in OBP but second in SLG. That means losing guys on the bases costs them more than the average team. Low run environments means those runs are even more valuable. If they had a low SLG the extra bases would mean more.
  14. I think Cole should have been suspended to set precedence for pitchers not to get so [whiny] about a perceived slight. The MLB is basically saying what Gomez did with the bat flip was wrong.
  15. Not necessarily. Unless they are stealing home. The extra few bases probably don't outweigh the loss of the base runner especially with the lack of OBP with this team. The extra base may lead to some extra runs here and there but with the SLG and speed of this team they would probably score more suns without the extra bases.
  16. I give him some credit for moving Segura down the order already and switching closers before it became a problem. I will never forgive him for how he used Kotsay or Yuni. He still plays to much small ball and let's his players be too aggressive on the base paths. The team is getting good pitching and I would but the credit for the winning and losing there. If the pitching drops off the team will lose more and that isn't the manager's fault.
  17. I timed him at 13.33 on yesterdays triple, and counted 2 other triples at 11.32 and 11.26. He had an inside the park homerun where he reached home at 14.16 seconds (wow!). But that's still a pace of 3.54 per bag. At the most generous estimate, he wasted 2.5 seconds, which would've been plenty of time to throw him out and start plenty of RRR is too aggressive rants here. While not sprinting out of the box is stupid, I just don't see how he ends up with an inside the park homerun had he came out sprinting. It coud've hurt the Brewers but it didn't. Leaving the bag from an argument is a different story, however. You can't just divide by 4. It takes longer to get to 1st than between the other bases.
  18. Pretty close. He is faster between bases than he is to first base. It takes a bit to accelerate.
  19. You really think people are making their decision based on 40 PA?
  20. Segura has only bought himself half a season. He was pretty bad the second half of last year. I would keep playing him all year but only because we don't really have any other options. I would give Weeks until the end of June. I don't think he will improve. I would drop Overbay now and bring up Gindle.
  21. Yes, I like Little Sumpin Sumpin. The best I have had recently is Chillwave IIPA from Great Lakes.
  22. Completely disagree. Outside of Belgian style beers Wisconsin breweries offer a solid selection in every category year round. There is a general lack of Dubbels, Tripels, and Quads. New Glarus makes some of the best Lambics in the US. Not that I like Lambics.
  23. I am not so sure about that. The things Weeks does well do not really endear him to many people so even when he was doing well there were more than a few people who were just waiting for his decline so they could pile on.
  24. Which is why our system is so bad. Everybody has guys like we do. What separates a good system from a bad is star talent.
