  1. ^^^ yeah, I think it's smart on their part. I know that I'll probably buy those games anyways, especially since a few of them are the day after a game I have for the 9 pack so i'll already be in town. May have to make a special trip up for the Melvin bobble though.
  2. if Randy Wolf got $5mm+incentives, what do you suppose the Looper contract is? $3mm+incentives? That's pretty darn good for a back end of the rotation guy. Especially considering what we're paying Soup.
  3. I am absolutely terrified that Corey will turn into a Jeff Franceur type. The league figures out that he has no plate discipline, he fails to adjust and becomes practically worthless. I think if he has a nice year this year, we move him in the offseason.
  4. it kind of bothers me that Aaron is wearing an Atlanta Brave hat in the HOF instead of a Milwaukee Brave hat. correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't he play longer in Milwaukee, have better years in Milwaukee and win a WS in Milwaukee? Sure he broke Ruth's record in Atlanta, but the best (and most) years of his career were in Milwaukee, right?
  5. I love Braun. Maybe he's been hanging around Corey this off season and can teach him a thing or two about taking some pitches. If our guys would just start laying off the junk, we will be so much more dangerous offensively.
  6. http://msn.foxsports.com/...and-Heilman-from-Mariners Looks like they're just adding some more pitching depth. Heilman will compete for the 5th starter spot or pitch out of the pen. Heilman is the type of guy that i'd like to see the Brewers get in that he's a back end guy and he's cheap. Of course, I don't think he's very good, but we need some depth.
  7. Haudricourt is reporting that a deal is in place, 2 yrs, $18mm. Good deal.
  8. I guess I don't see the point in this. Sure, you get cost certainty, but for a player that seems destined to leave, i'd rather keep the carrot out in front of him so to speak and have him go year to year. Now if he wants to sign away a year of free agency, then i'll get excited.
  9. hopefully since they're only $2mm apart they can avoid a hearing.
  10. Is there any way Melvin can forbid Yo from pitching? We kind of have a lot riding on that right arm of his this year.
  11. ^^ good point. If Sheets is really miffed by the way he perceives he was treated by the fans, he's got to realize that he would be given a hero's welcome if he came back at a reasonable offer. Of course, if he gets hurt again all that good will could go out the window, but still.
  12. cool thanks. I like how they keep showing Mota when talking about Torres, haha.
  13. Is this turning into a who blinks first type scenario with Sheets and Melvin? 2/$18mm would be amazing.
  14. do you have a link? I can't seem to find it on the MLB page or on the hot stove page.
  15. I'm sure as the economy continues to worsen that walk-up sales will suffer more than in years past as well. It's fantastic that we've already sold this many tickets, but I don't think that it's necessarily an indication of future sales.
  16. found this in Brian Anderson's blog: so that should put an end to his return. I can't believe he would just flat out tell them that he doesn't want to come back though, especially since it doesn't seem like teams are beating down his door to sign him to a large deal.
  17. how fantastic would it be if the Dave Bush from the 2nd half last year shows up and pitches the entire year? I'd actually like our chances of sneaking into the playoffs again if that was the case.
  18. so I was looking at the all-fan days and noticed that the weekend 9 game pack that I have seems to have either the day before or the day after them. I guess it's a good way to get people to pony up and buy tickets to get the bobble heads, but this was a little annoying considering the weekend 9 game had a couple of the bobble dates in it last year.
  19. simply glorious. I wonder what the financial terms are if he chose us over LA on 1 year deals.
  20. in my opinion, Cordero isn't that great, even when healthy. This seems like a Mark Prior kind of deal. High reward, low risk, but really probably won't work out at all.
  21. It's not even like he'd be paying $10mm a year for 2 years, it would take $6 or $7mm at most. I don't see why he wouldn't do this if it would get the deal done.
  22. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...otstove2008&fext=.jsp Apparently our offer is also 1 year, with an option at around $4mm. Doug has to know that there is NO way Hoffman will come here if the offers are equal, why not guarantee the 2nd year if your interest is sincere?!
  23. I won't give up hope until it's official, but that certainly does not look good. This will be an incredibly disappointing turn of events.
  24. because we offered Sheets arbitration, is there a certain deadline that he would have to sign by if we were to bring him back? I thought I read something about certain players not being able to resign with their current/former team until May 1st if a deal isn't done by a certain date. I could be way off on that though.
  25. well if LA would make him the closer, we have to offer a 2nd guaranteed year and perhaps an extra mil a year. I think he's worth it. It's not like he's a guy that relies on velocity to get people out. He was still very effective last year, I think he's definitely worth a 2 year deal. It's not like he's any old reliever either, he has a hall of fame track record.
