I don't think I ever want to see the Brewers front office trying to resign anyone "at all costs." I love Weeks, and think when healthy he is as good or better than Uggla. However, players should be paid by what they are expected to do and a lot of expectations comes from past numbers. Over the last 3 years, Uggla has been worth an average of 1 more win than Weeks. Yes this is partly because of injuries but that doesn't mean the numbers should be thrown out. The Brewers assume a lot of risk in signing Weeks to a long term contract. They should get a discount. Weeks isn't worth what Uggla is, and he shouldn't be paid as the 2nd or 3rd best 2B in baseball behind Utley/Cano. He simply hasn't done enough yet to earn that contract.

Righties may pitch around him, but lets not forget that Gamel has nearly the opposite splits as you would expect from a LHB.

Could you use wRC (runs created)? Yo created 10.7 runs on offense in 185 IP. His FIP was 3.02 meaning he should have given up 62 runs this season. Subtract 10.7, and his Net FIP goes to 2.52. Of course, I just made this up and it would probably make Dave Cameron's brain bleed, but its worth a shot.

I see what you are getting at. Without giving too much away I will just say I found the resolution of this particular storyline unexpected and satisfying. I think you will too.

I'm going to say now that I think the Lori/Shane thing was going on BEFORE the zombie takeover occurred. If that's not the case it just seems kind of weird and rushed. I think they'll eventually reveal that she was having an affair with his partner before the Walkers started popping up. I think a lot of people here know how the story is going to unfold so its going to be difficult to get a discussion going about where the storyline is headed without people reviling spoilers to those who haven't read the comics. Overall, for a show like this, which is obviously about people trying to survive in a world overrun by zombies, I don't like that the love relationship appears to be the bigger storyline that the show is leading to. I prefer to see the show develop with the original premise, survival on a daily basis, with several shorter, personal issues tied in (like the man with the rifle who couldn't bring himself to shoot his zombie wife) than have some stupid love triangle dumb things up. That just makes it more like a soap opera...with zombies. One thing that I took from the comics and from other stories of near apocalypse, like Battlestar Galactica for example, is that people seem to find a need to rush into sexual relationships for comfort/distraction when there is less of a society to judge them. Also, when you could die at any moment its probably a lot easier to jump into something you normally wouldn't. If I remember correctly this becomes a popular theme in the comics with several characters. I can see how it would bother some, but I think its a realistic theme to explore, or as realistic as you can get for a story about a zombie apocalypse.

I hate how Gamel got hurt during spring training 2010. Not sure how that's the Brewers fault, though. I hated him getting injured too, but I loved how he played the rest of the year in AAA.

You may not mind him as an announcer, but you have to admit he sure is lazy. His job is to know about baseball and he seemed to know less about it than a casual fan. If he hadn't been so good at it so many years ago he wouldn't have been anywhere near a broadcast booth.

Macha didn't say that in his opening press conference. He talked about not giving away outs on the basepaths early in the games but that it could be utilized at the end to try and eek out a tying or winning run. If RR says he is going to be more aggressive than Macha, I will believe him until I see otherwise.

I think there is room for him because I don't expect him to pitch much more than 100 innings. He would be a perfect bridge to Mark Rogers in the second half. Both of them could eat up a lot of effective innings as the number 5 starters, Cappy in the first half, Rogers in the second.

Peeps? I thought of a good costume but it was too late. I would have liked to go as the super rich russian guy from the Direct TV commercial. Just wear a turtle neck, spray paint a cheap remote gold, get a gold pillow and a giraffe beanybaby. Then walk around saying stuff with a Russian accent like "Opulence, I has it." Oh well, next year will probably be too late.

Ironically, that may be the one brand of car I would buy used. Especially if safety is a concern. I am sure they will get their act together soon though, they are too good of a company not to.

I was just reading somewhere that the old addage of how bad it is to buy new doesn't really apply in the last couple of years because automakers are providing such lower prices and incentives. When you buy new, you also know that you aren't getting something that was treated like crap with no maintenance before you. Long term, the article was saying that all things considered new cars are the better investment right now.

I agree with this. When I got my new car 6 years ago, I brought in a manilla envelope and set it right on the desk. I had a print out from KBB of my trade in, a printout of the invoice price of what I wanted, and other misc notes. Of course you still have to play their game, but when its black and white in front of both of you that process goes much quicker. There is a correct price and you both know it, but the dealer will do everything they can to move away from that price by tricking you or bringing emotion into it. As a last resort, they will play good cop bad cop with their manager or tell you lines like "we need to make some money here" and that is somewhat true. They need to make a sale and if they wont meet your price there is a great chance someone in the area will, especially in this economy. They know that and you have to let them know that that you know that too. Then the threat of walking away becomes much more real.

Them making up for their defensive deficiencies with offense has nothing to do with the quality of their defense.
