    Dunn and Rios' sitations are entirely different, as the Sox have much more incentive for those players to turn it around (long term contracts with big money). And not every other team has a guy or two doing the same thing. There are currently 17 players in baseball who are contributing negative value and only 5 teams have more than 1. The vast majority of the players who are contributing with negative value aren't going year to year with their teams, have a proven track record of success, and have been dropped in the batting order to minimize their negative production. None of these things apply to McGehee which is certainly a cause for concern.

    The worst part about not living in WI anymore is that I can't get a proper bloody anywhere. And people look at you like you are crazy if you want a side car. My favorite drink right now is Belvedere and water. Simple, yes, but very good and it seems almost impossible to get a hangover.

    I'm thinking they will DFA/option someone at the back end of the bullpen for these next two series opting for the extra bat off the bench, then send Gamel back down and call up Saito. Mitre or Estrada maybe? In the meantime I will still hold out hope for a Kotsay DFA.

    Loe is on pace to lose 14 games. It would be 17 had not the offense pulled off an incredible rally last week. That is simply unacceptable. His command is spotty and he's leaving a ton of balls up over the middle of the plate. It appears he loses concentration out there. They've wasted far too many outstanding starts and he's the main culprit. I understand your point about Hawkins but he's by far the most experienced, and if you are actually watching him pitch instead of relying on your stathead stuff, you'll see he's getting consistent sink on 93 mph fastballs, and that's why he's not giving up runs regardless of his K rate. Estrada had a few nice starts early and a few good relief appearances early, but he's been awful lately. He's the last guy I'd turn to instead of Loe. Braddock is throwing the ball extremely well too and we hardly see him. So was McClendon before he went down (he should be recalled and Estrada should be sent down BTW). According to PitchFX his velocity and sink are actually still down on his fastball. It might be consistent this year, but its not consistent with his past.

    All area bars will be Brewer friendly this year. They will still be DBaggy though. Casey Morans or Irish Oak are not a bad as most. Walk to Wills if you want a Wisconsin bar.

    Fyi, the purple express takes you directly from Howard to Sheridan for Cubs games. It will be probably 15 minutes faster than the red line. I just saw a bunch of people in Brewers gear waiting on the Howard platform as my express just left. Sorry if that was a bf. Netter, I had no way to let you know.

    FYI, the transfer at Davis is to the Purple line, which then requires another transfer to the Red Line at Howard. However, with the night games you are probably better off taking the Purple Line Express since I think it makes a direct run from Evanston to Addison. I guess I would say the easiest way is to still drive to the Yellow Line just off the Edens at Dempster St. Be careful parking at the redline stops north of Adison as some of them aren't in the best neighborhoods. I second bobskube's idea of taking Irving Park over Addison if you are driving. Some people would also suggest to take Sheridan to LSD, but it is under construction right now so that is absolutely not an option.

    $7 will get you a seat in the middle of the summer. It's crazy cheap down there right now. I have't seen them nearly that cheap yet if you want to get them ahead of time. Like someone else said, prices will of course drop after an inning or two. Your best value right now seems to be to buy decent seats since a lot of corporations or people with season tix are selling the better stuff for dramatically lower prices. If you are headed down from WI stop at Wills before or after the game. Its a WI themed bar just south of Belmont on Racine, so a little more than half a mile from the stadium. On the walk up Sheffield you will pass Redmonds, another WI bar, though not a Brewer bar. Trust me, you will feel a lot better about paying for overpriced beer at those places than Goose Island or Barleycorn.

    It will drop you off in the west loop. From there its a 5-10 minute walk to the redline, then a 20 minute trip up to the Addison stop. I would say total trip time would be under 40 minutes with waiting for the train on the platform and getting out of Union. Thousands of people do it every game since the trains from the suburbs go to the same station.

    I am really confused why people keep saying Kotsay gives you quality ABs. How can a player that inept at offense who gives such poor results be giving you quality ABs? Is it because he takes a few pitches? Is that really a plus near the end of the game when PHs are needed? I would rather have some OBP or SLG, something he has been miserable at the last few years.

    Nobody ever said talent can't overcome poor management. I think we as fans we are entitled to a desire for that talent to be somewhat maximized though.

    Pretty bad episode. The way they left it makes me think Jim will feel like he has to take the job since he can't find anyone else and nobody is taking the search seriously.

    I guess the hackers bought server power from Amazon's service in order to launch the attack. I don't know what that means really but from what I read its the first time someone has legally purchased something like this in order to launch a hack.

    Gomez would be a solid contributor to this team if he wasn't being asked to hit in the two hole where OBP is important. He is deficient in that regard but solid to elite everywhere else.

    He has refined a new pitch nearly every year he has been in the bigs so not sure why you think he wouldn't work to be effective when his velocity starts to leave him. As others have said, I don't really see how anyone could not pick Greinke. Perhaps its just that he has been more effective in a Brewer uni. Looking at their stuff and overall body of work though I have to agree that every GM in baseball would say Greinke.
