  1. There were two episodes on NBC Thursday night. And they were both awesome. Just enough John Ralphio for me: http://www.rejectedjokes.com/post/5454304333/jean-ralphio-raps-so-hard-your-panties-drop
  2. No worries about a holy war. I just didn't understand your comment. LA Noire will draw a lot from movies like most Rockstar games it seems, but I do expect the game play to be pretty awesome. I totally forgot about a lot of the simulation games I used to play back when there was more of a PC gaming culture. I do miss some of that, but I have never played an MMO and don't have the time or interest to start. For me at least, all of the drawbacks of a gaming console are more than made up for in that I can play them on my couch on my plasma TV. I know you can sorta do this with a PC but theres just something so casual about firing up Uncharted2 by pushing a button while laying on my couch.
  3. I don't get it. Are you saying you think LA Noire will be more like an interactive movie than a game? I would expect Rockstar to dial in the game play pretty well even if it is a little unique. And why on earth would you spend your money on a PC for gaming and not a console these days? I haven't heard of anyone doing that since Counter Strike was big.
  4. Never had a problem with Verizon at MP. My friend and I were at a Cubs game recently and his ATT iPhone was worthless while my Thunderbolt was perfectly normal. Thats pretty much ATT's MO though.
  5. I think enough people know, but the whole point anyways is to have an awesome inside joke.
  6. Atmosphere's new album has mixed reviews. I will be listening to it all next week and I am sure I will like it no matter what...I always do.
  7. Wade Boggs wouldn't approve: http://64millerlites.blogspot.com/2008/02/test.html
  8. Its his persona as a Doctor Doom style super villain and M.F. stands for Metal Face among other things. He has played it up since the beginning of his career which is kinda cool. I've also heard a rumor that he started wearing the mask because when he first started rapping again at clubs in NYC (he quit rap one in the past after his brother died) he was somewhat blacklisted over racial stuff. The super villain thing also goes too far at times. I went to a show this past year where Mos opened for Doom. A fake Doom came out 2 hours late and lip synced a few songs before retreating off stage as beers and water bottles were pelting him and his hype man. Apparently he does this somewhat regularly.
  9. I'm already a fan of Lupe Fiasco and The Roots. For whatever reason i've never given Talib Kweli a lot of listening, same with Mos Def. Never heard any of the other four you listed. I didn't completely give up on more current rap, i just stopped eagerly searching out stuff like i did when rap blew up in the mid-late 80's and 90's. Not sure why either because generally i'm always on the look out for new artists pleasing to the ears. If I can offer a suggestion in line with TooLiveBrew, start with Blackstar if you are going to give Mos and Talib a try. Then I would agree that The New Danger is probably the album for you. Mos' other albums are much more rap based with a few songs on them where he sings. From what you have described about your tastes I don't think you would like his latest album at all, The Ecstatic. In terms of other artists to check out, I agree with all of what was previously suggested, but check out Aesop's earlier stuff before his last album. Another artist you should check out right away is Atmosphere. He preforms with a live band and has tons of rock mixed into his songs while sampling a lot from the Besties. Plus he is sort of local being from Minn and performing at the Rave about 4 times a year before he got really big. A little slower but a good example of the rock influences:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoLxuyV9qz8
  10. Mos pretty much makes the BlackRoc album. Well, him and ODB.
  11. Huh, I just stick to a netbook but I wonder how fast people can type on the on-screen keyboard. I don't think I could ever get used to that.
  12. There is a new Blackberry tablet coming out that will be able to run Andoid Apps FYI. I don't remember the name of it off the top of my head but that seems like it might be something you would be interested in if you are a current Blackberry user and want more apps.
  13. How do they take class notes without a keyboard?
  14. Ha. MU would never even consider that.
  15. This type of thing just makes me sick. 6 years ago my younger brother took a batted ball to the back of the head while he and his friends were practicing. Everything turned out all right besides him being unconscious for a while and having a concussion, but head injuries are scary things. I hate to think of what could have happened. Realistically though, I don't really know what can be done about it in MLB besides the measures they have already taken.
  16. It sounds like resolution isn't the problem but the delay on your tv. My friend had this happen with rock band where the timing was slightly off. I will ask him what he adjusted.
  17. Ah yes, I forgot about the Thunderbolt I/O tech. I was talking about the HTC Thunderbolt phone, which ads have been running for every 10 minutes on TV the last couple of weeks. It seems Samsung's LTE phone may now end up beating the HTC Thunderbolt to market as the first LTE phone. What sucks for me is I need to upgrade and the wait is killing me. I would settle for the HTC Thunderbolt releasing now with a future LTE software upgrade coming later similar to the Xoom.
  18. Better now than in the season. This wont be the last time a starter has to miss a few.
  19. My netbook has something like a 95% sized keyboard and I assume track pad. I have never had a problem using it, though maybe you would since I hadn't really used a trackpad previous to owning this. Another interesting aside about LTE, it seems the Thunderbolt has been pushed back again and will be coming out "in the first half of the year." I have been eligable for upgrade for quite some time, just waiting for this phone. Looks like I will have to wait another month or so until they can get the battery to last longer than 4 hrs on LTE. It sounds like this technology just isn't quite ready for public consumption. Still, I aplaund Verizon for pushing the boundary and I think early adoptors will be willing to pay a premium for this service.
  20. I've had a netbook for over a year and never had a problem opening multiple tabs in Firefox while listening to music and working in OpenOffice. No, its not a desktop but they work fine for around the couch or on the go. And with flash, usb, and a keyboard it fits my needs much better than an iPad and even a Xoom.
  21. Verizon LTE, Flash, expandable storage, and USB are all benefits the Xoom has over an Ipad2 that I would consider essential for my uses.
  22. Fair enough, I guess I didn't read it as a question so I shouldn't have been as condescending in my response. I agree it seems like a silly reason to get hurt at the level he is at, which is why I tend to think Gamel's take is correct in the link I provided. I don't remember Gamel saying he hurt it not warming up (again, he said otherwise in the link previously provided). I remember that take on it coming from Tom's blog which is why I indicated that his bias had effected you. Even if you didn't read it, it seems that information got back to you somehow. At this point I supose you could say he seems snake bit, but a lot of players get hurt. The timing of it two years in a row now is strange, but I wouldn't read too much into it.
  23. Maybe you meant he seems to have a problem getting hurt at St, but you didn't type that. You said: And last year when he tore his lat by not warming up properly before hitting? How long do you have to play baseball before you figure out what it takes to get loosened up to swing a bat? In terms of condesension, I would say thats the exact point where it started. But I am glad to see that you didn't just feed off of the bias reporting, that was my main point.
  24. Looks like Haudricourt claimed another victim. That's hilarious. I can see with my own eyes. I don't need a journalist to tell me what I saw. Not to mention Gamel himself admitted that's how he got hurt last ST - not warming up properly. With your own eyes you were in AZ and saw him the whole morning before he suposedly tore his latissimus dorsi muscle? In that time you never saw him warm up? Or if you did, you know enough about proper stretching and specifically Mat Gamel's body to know that he wasn't warmed up properly? You can also tell that was the exact moment that he tore it even though he said he thought it happend earlier on a throw? Did you see the throw also? Did you talk to him so you know it was actually on the swing? Did you preform an MRI on him after the throw and after the swing or later after the swelling went down? If you came to all those conclusions on your own without reading Haudricourt good for you, because Andrew McCalvy certainly didn't add his own conclusion when he unbiasedly reported on the situation: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100319&content_id=8843402&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
