  1. Given the state of our current rotation, I don't think we can afford to trade Houser. This saddens me.
  2. Could be. We might be picking through the scraps, just like the free agent players...
  3. All they have to do is be better than us (or the Cardinals) in 2024 to make the playoffs. They can spend some money, they have it, and they now have our manager. I mean, we already know we aren't going to spend the money to land a big time free agent. They can do just that, probably several times actually. Honestly, we probably win a few less games than last year, and they have the opportunity to win a few more, maybe even a lot more if they play their cards right. Let's say we lose 4 or 5 more than last year (I actually think we lose more like 10 than last year), and they win 4 or 5 more than last year. That puts them right in the thick of things. I want nothing more than to keep Counsell out of the playoffs next season, but how that plays out, we are going to have to watch and see.
  4. ...and no roof? I saw all the AI designs for every team, and some were just plain stupid.

  6. I hope we get this done this week... I must admit, waiting is driving me nuts.
  7. ...can you imagine the fans/people bailing on the Brewers. This would be an absolute crime against humanity. https://cubbiescrib.com/posts/3-surprising-trade-targets-who-could-transform-the-cubs-2024-roster-01he68gf3vqj?fbclid=IwAR27hsolfvZianZj2bCUukuts-9DgtfMDrWfMu1VVPZL_FANuYjt7xPuGN8
  8. I had no interest in him before I read this, now I have less than no interest... Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Wednesday that Gavin Lux is continuing to progress in his recovery from a torn ACL, MCL, and right hamstring in early March. While we knew the 25-year suffered a torn ACL and MCL before the season began, this is the first time we’ve heard that Lux also suffered a torn right hamstring. Gomes said Lux has progressed to taking infield drills and should be fully healthy once the season begins. He will likely be the Dodgers starting shortstop unless the team signs or trades for a reliable defender. 4h ago Source: Juan Toribio; MLB.com
  9. Plus, he isn't good at 2B defensively, I can't imagine he'd be any better at 3B.
  10. Has India ever played 3B in the majors? Minors?
  11. What a disappointment it would be to get a league average 1B in a deal for Burnes. Are we so used to having crap at 1B that a league average guy is good enough? I'd rather just sign Santana for $6 million, or whatever, than get back an average player for Burnes.
  12. I was wondering the same thing, never heard of it before...
  13. Or a Jackson Holliday? Would we trade Peralta straight up for him?
  14. You were insinuating that winning the division, even without Woody shouldn't be that difficult in '24. What you were not taking into account was that the other teams will surely be better. Those teams that have some "catch-up" to do are going to make every attempt to do so, and all we have is talk of trading off anyone and everyone, a different manager (who we know nothing about yet), and a million holes to fill in our rotation once Burnes is moved. You can continue to tow the company line, but winning the division in '24 with all the turmoil this team is in, is going to be a complete magic show.
  15. There is not a chance in hell that the Cardinals aren't going to be better, a lot better in '24. The Cubs are going to be active on the FA market, they aren't going to sign their golden boy manager and not give him some shiny new toys to manage. If the Reds add some pitching, or get their current staff healthy, they are going to have to be dealt with too. The Division will not be as weak in '24 as it was in '23, it just isn't going to be that easy. Because we won the division by 9 games last year means absolutely nothing in '24, especially when considering what I have just outlined above.
  16. Maybe, before writing an article on the guy, you can spell his name correctly? Geez.
  17. Looking at their current roster, I would think that probably only Contreras is truly untouchable. Maybe, MAYBE, Peralta could be the next closest. Uribe? Anyone else, if the offer is too good to pass up, should be tradeable.
  18. The Astros are trying to keep bench coach Joe Espada from interviewing with the Brewers for their managerial opening until they decide on who will replace Dusty Baker. Espada is a candidate for both jobs. The oddity here is that, as The Athletic’s Chandler Rome reports, Espada’s contract with the Astros expired on Oct. 31, allowing him to do whatever he’d like. Yet GM Dana Brown still said Tuesday that the Brewers were being denied permission to interview in Milwaukee. Related Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago Source: The Athletic

  20. One thing to take into consideration is this: Does Burnes even want to sign a big contract with us? I'm going to guess, NO, he does not. Like Counsell, I think Burnes wants out of Milwaukee too, and if we keep him this year without trading him, I highly doubt we are on his list of teams he wants to sign with in 2025.
  21. Truth, I thought I was the only one. lol I just don't see why he is allowed to share his views on the home town message board.
  22. Ok, yeah, true, but that doesn't mean we have to excuse it either. I get it, there are people here that like to take the opposite view for discussion sake, but it really is ok to admit when the Brewers, their manger, their front office, or anyone else screws up.
  23. Oh, I have no doubt in my mind he wanted out of Milwaukee. All signs are pointing to that, he probably can't believe he gets to leave PLUS getting that kind of money. It was a win-win for him I guess. Not sure his goal was to stick it to anyone, but then again, that could easily be part of the equation as well.
