  1. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic hears that the Nationals are considering free agent left-hander Wade Miley. Washington has also been connected to free agent starter Anibal Sanchez in the hours since trading Tanner Roark to the Reds for a big-armed controllable reliever in Tanner Rainey. Miley struggled with injuries as a member of the Brewers in 2018, but he posted a shiny 2.57 ERA over 16 starts when healthy. The 32-year-old had a 5.61 ERA in 157 1/3 innings with the Orioles in 2017. Source: Ken Rosenthal on TwitterDec 12 - 9:06 PM
  2. same! I hope we can hang onto him, but I have my doubts. The only think that saves us is that I can't see a team putting him on the 25 man roster for the entire season, he's not ready for a MLB gig yet imo.
  3. seems like this topic should be merged with the one in the transactions/proposals forum...
  4. I don't believe Kimbrel is a real option for us... Just don't believe it.
  5. Jon Heyman of FanCred Sports hears that a deal between the Pirates and Jordan Lyles has been agreed to, pending a physical. Joel Sherman of the New York Post previously mentioned that a deal was close. Lyles showed improved stuff in 2018 while posting a 4.11 ERA and 84/28 K/BB ratio over 87 2/3 innings between the Brewers and Padres. He'll offer depth between the bullpen and rotation with his new team. Source: Jon Heyman on TwitterDec 11 - 2:51 PM
  6. Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports reports that the Yankees and Reds had discussions about a possible Scooter Gennett trade. Heyman cautions that he's "not sure how much there is to it." The fit makes some sense, as Gennett could play second base while Gleyber Torres slides over to shortstop to cover for Didi Gregorius (elbow). For what it's worth, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com has reported that the Reds are "not actively looking to move" Gennett. Source: Jon Heyman on TwitterDec 10 - 6:29 PM
  7. Brewers general manager David Stearns said Monday that the team is "keeping in touch" with Wade Miley's agent. The Brewers are open to bringing the left-hander back, but Miley will test out his value on the open market first. The southpaw should be able to land a multi-year contract after posting a surprising 2.57 ERA over 16 starts last season. Source: Adam McCalvy on TwitterDec 10 - 9:08 PM
  8. Robert Murray of The Athletic reports that the Brewers have expressed interest in Daniel Murphy. Murray also confirms that the club is interested in re-signing Mike Moustakas, which has been reportedly previously. General manager David Stearns said Monday that the team is planning on Travis Shaw being their second baseman next season, but obviously the signing of Murphy or Moustakas would change that. Source: The AthleticDec 10 - 9:30 PM If they intend to have Shaw at 2B next season, how does signing Moose change that? Wouldn't that be the opposite, and if they signed Moose, Shaw WOULD be playing 2B...
  9. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Mets have discussed a three-team trade with the Yankees and Marlins in which they would land J.T. Realmuto. The Mets and Yankees haven't made a trade involving major leaguers since 2004, but Rosenthal says new Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen has been in "steady" talks with the Yanks since he was hired. Rosenthal adds that he's not sure whether Noah Syndergaard is part of the discussions but the Mets would not trade Syndergaard if they only get Realmuto in return. Andy Martino of SNY.tv says that Syndergaard going to the Yankees is a "real possibility," but there are "10 other scenarios" the Mets are considering. We're sure to hear more about this possible three-way deal as the Winter Meetings unfold. Source: Ken Rosenthal on TwitterDec 10 - 11:02 PM
  10. Buster Olney of ESPN.com writes that the sense among some other teams is that the Marlins have begun to push for a J.T. Realmuto trade. It's no surprise that the Marlins are talking trade, but there is a difference in their stance here compared to the past. As Olney describes it, the Marlins previously set a very high bar in regard to the asking price and challenged teams to meet it, but now they are being more aggressive in trying to actually make a deal. According to Joe Frisaro, the Mets are one of three teams involved in trade talks for Realmuto, though the much-hyped three-way trade involving the Yankees is seen as a long shot possibility. The identity of the other two teams isn't yet known. Either way, momentum continues to build at the Winter Meetings in Vegas. Source: Buster Olney on TwitterDec 11 - 8:51 AM
  11. Guerra, imo, should be our long relief arm this year. No more starting, let the guy thrive in the situation he had so much success in last season. We have plenty of starting options, give him a key part of the bull pen, and let him throw 2,3,4 innings when needed.
  12. Something tells me that Scooter would not be thrilled to return to Milwaukee... Who could blame him? Going back to the organization that threw him out with the trash wouldn't be the highest priority on my list either. As much as I'd love to have him back, I don't see any situation where it would be realistic.
  13. Yes please! And if Santana would sweeten the pot, they could take him too if they would throw in a lottery type guy from the lower levels of their system.
  14. Signing Murphy would most likely mean no Moose unless Shaw is on the move...
  15. Looking forward to Eastwood's "the Mule."
  16. I really hate these "city" uniforms they are wearing tonight... Distracting. Also, I find it hard to root for DJ Wilson and his many hair dos. The guy just moves weird on the court, kind of a prancer, seems lost a lot of the time, and seems to offer next to nothing.
  17. I'm amazed this thread got 17 replies... This is such a blah bit of news... AAA fodder at best.
  18. I'd do Ray and Santana right now! No way I move Burnes AND Peralta. In fact, I wouldn't move Burnes at all, and I'm not thrilled to let Peralta go either. I enjoy the fact that we have 3 major league ready guys to anchor our rotation this year, trading them away, as a small market club is not wise.
  19. Burnes AND Peralta? Nope, too much. I'd do Peralta plus, but not Burnes...
  20. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle hears that the Giants might be Yusei Kikuchi's "first choice" as a potential landing spot. Kikuchi has been connected to West Coast teams already, including the Padres, Dodgers, and Mariners. He's said to "really like" San Francisco, but it's unclear if the club intends to make a substantial bid. Kikuchi was posted by the Saitama Seibu Lions last week and will be available through January 2 at 5 p.m. ET. The 27-year-old southpaw posted a 3.08 ERA and 153/45 K/BB ratio over 163 2/3 innings this past season. He's being represented by Scott Boras. Source: Henry Schulman on TwitterDec 10 - 9:31 AM
  21. Kind of sad really...
  22. Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Mets' trade talks involving J.T. Realmuto, Noah Syndergaard and Corey Kluber "have lost a degree of momentum." Martino says that the Mets are "highly motivated" to acquire J.T. Realmuto, but the Marlins' big asking price -- which may include Amed Rosario and Brandon Nimmo -- has the Mets feeling "less optimistic" something will get done. He adds that the Mets feel they need to get a "slam-dunk return" in order to consider trading Syndergaard and they "have been unable to get close to a match with Cleveland on Kluber." This could all just be posturing, of course, and Martino notes that it's possible the lost momentum is "temporary." We will surely hear plenty of rumors involving the Mets at this week's Winter Meetings. Source: SNY.tvDec 9 - 2:33 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Padres have "genuine interest" in acquiring J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins. The Padres are in the market for an upgrade behind the plate and Realmuto definitely qualifies there. He'd add another big bat to the middle of the lineup as well as terrific defense behind the dish. The Mets are the team that has been mentioned most often as the team looking to snag the All-Star catcher from the Marlins, but perhaps they'd prefer to deal him out of the division instead, which could give the Padres a leg up. Source: Jon Morosi on TwitterDec 9 - 10:24 PM
  23. MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports that the Padres have continued to talk to the Yankees about a possible trade for Sonny Gray. It looks like a near certainty that the Yankees will be dealing the embattled right-hander this offseason after he struggled to a 4.90 ERA during a disappointing 2018 season. The Brewers, Athletics, Reds, Braves, Rangers and Twins have all been mentioned as possible destinations for Gray, but no landing spot would be better for his fantasy value than the spacious confines of Petco Park in San Diego. Source: Jon Morosi on TwitterDec 9 - 10:30 PM
  24. agreed, can't count on Nelson in any way until we see some action.
