  1. Huh? Tobias Harris has played 15 years in the league and scored over 16,000 points (#23 among active players). I'll take that at #13 all day long.
  2. So Coleman Crow is tops in the majors in glove-side slider movement...
  3. I think this Sproat kid is gonna be alright...
  4. The guy with the .642 OPS over the last 28 days? He'll fit right in.
  5. I'm having trouble finding the part where Sproat fell apart in the Las Vegas launching pad...
  6. Heat (based on new lottery system as of 2027) 2026 - Lotto (#14 pick) 2025 - Lotto (#11) 2024 - Lotto (#15) 2023 - no lotto 2022 - no lotto 2021 - no lotto 2020 - no lotto 2019 - Lotto (#13) 2018 - Lotto (#16) 2017 - Lotto (#14) Six of the last 10 years they would have been in the lotto under the new system, including each of the last 3 years.
  7. I read something a while back that basically said that many CFOs were being given until the middle of this year to demonstrate ROI on AI spending. We're about at the middle of the year, so there very well could be a cut of AI spending coming up if ROI isn't demonstrated when the current quarterly or fiscal year numbers are shared with the CEO/BoD.
  8. You're not wrong in principle, but a team can only have so many stars on it. Generally, it's hard for a team to have more than 3 stars on it with max contracts, caps, aprons, etc., and at some point those stars are going to want to be stars on another team instead of a role player on a warm weather team. Those other stars have to play somewhere. As things are now, this is what, the 8th consecutive year with a different champion? There are plenty of stars spread throughout the league, enough for different teams to win the championship.
  9. As has been said, with the new draft lotto system, anything is possible so long as the team either misses the playoffs or is a play-in team. Much flatter odds for the top 3 picks to be random.
  10. To be fair, Patrick hasn't exactly had a good last two weeks.
  11. 33 pitches through 3 innings - will take that all day
  12. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-injuries-and-roster-moves RHP Logan Henderson Injury: Low back strain IL date: April 26 (15-day, retroactive to May 23) Expected return: Early July Status: Successfully navigated one live batting practice session as of June 21 and has another scheduled for June 23, after which the Brewers believe Henderson will be ready to go on rehab assignment. (last updated: June 21) (Mods - maybe pin the Brewers injury report to the MLB forum?)
  13. I don't think they were expecting Gasser to go 6 based on his first four innings. It was unexpected that Gasser would go through the 5th on 9 pitches and the 6th on 7 pitches, and I think they wanted to make sure that they didn't let ATL back in it in the 5th or 6th when Patrick started warming up by putting in Rom and risking having to use one or more of their better relievers in the 7th-9th if Rom blew up. Once Patrick was warm, they just went with him and wanted to make sure they only used one reliever this game. Saves the other 7 for the next two days.
  14. Pot, meet kettle No, it isn't. 1) How often does this scenario happen? Extremely rare. So why are you getting all bent about it? B) Who is up next? If it's one of their better LH hitters, then I go with the guy who is least likely to make an out because HRs are rare. Vaughn has hit 1 HR in 66 PAs vs RHP this season, so I'm not counting on him to hit a HR. Nor Frelick, because he's hit 2 HR in 164 PAs vs RHP this season. But, if someone like Ortiz or Perkins is up next, then I might take more of a chance on that rare HR. 3) Who is available to PH? If Yelich or Bauers or Turang is available to PH, the answer is neither. In your rare instance that happens in a vacuum with no good LHH to pinch hit, Vaughn OBP vs RHP in 2026: .273 Frelick OBP vs RHP in 2026: .334 So, given that I can't count on either to hit a HR vs RHP, I go with the guy who is most likely to extend the inning, which is Frelick. Now, go relax and have a cream soda, do something to chill out.
  15. Nerd Wallet has a really good rent vs own calculator: https://www.nerdwallet.com/mortgages/calculators/rent-vs-buy-calculator Putting in my new rent numbers, current interest rates, and being conservative with the numbers, the best I get to with ownership is being +$20K after 13 years (that number gets me to 65). That is actually about the peak for ownership, as their calculations have ownership getting more expensive after that with repairs and maintenance on an older home. Not worth the ownership risk (and headache) for a max of +$20K after 13 years. Yeah, I can't do exactly everything I want with renting a home, but I know the downside of ownership can be a lot greater than that. And 10 years from now... good luck finding contractors to fix your home because they're aging out of the business. Unless you get lucky and buy a house in what becomes the hot new neighborhood/town and get extraordinary appreciation on value or get a really low interest rate (or both), you don't really make that much on a home. Or if you can stay in it for 40 years and your payment doesn't change (and gets eliminated after 30), but rare is the person who doesn't have to move in their life anymore.
  16. Tarik Skubal won the AL Cy Young last year and he lost 6 games. Garrett Crochet finished 2nd in the AL Cy Young. He lost 5 games. Christopher Sanches finished 2nd in the NL Cy Young pitching for PHI. He lost 5 games. Yamamoto finished 3rd in the NL Cy Young pitching for the Dodgers. He lost 8 games. Great pitchers lose games occasionally. Relax.
  17. The Brewers have gotten 10-runned exactly zero times this year. Relax.
  18. They lost two games by a combined total of 3 runs. That's baseball. Relax.
  19. Albies' back foot wasn't in the batter's box. Don't know how he gets away with that.
  20. Oh, I know that. But if the assumption was that Megill was going to throw 15+ pitches, the thought was that for only 8 pitches he might consider leaving him in.
  21. Only 8 pitches for Megill, maybe he comes back out with Ashby ready if he gets in trouble.
  22. Up by 2 in the 7th, how do you let a ball get by you down the 1B line?
