  1. Do we really need two starting pitchers? Keuchal and Miley would be nice but you have Chacin, Davies, Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Anderson and at least Jimmy Nelson thinks he is going to be ready. That is 9 starters. Maybe you trade Anderson and Davies and let Nelson start in AAA and then have one of the young arms in the bullpen. Would that be the plan?
  2. Who are these high yield trade chips? I was wondering the same thing
  3. He has zero tourney wins and looks to be putting together his first good year in 5 years. Yeah he would need a run to jump to the top of that list. I dont know if this is the year for that. Next year though.
  4. Marquette and Wisconsin have had very contrasting seasons. Marquette has lost by 20, 20, and 9. Wisconsin has lost all their games by 7 or less including 2 in OT. Marquette has just been way better closing out games which makes sense because their 3 best players are really good free throw shooters. Kenpom likes the Badgers. RPI likes Marquette. Cool to have both teams playing well again. I liked Marquette back in the day but then Crean and Buzz really rubbed me the wrong way. Wojo seems a lot better so I am slowly starting to be a fan again
  5. The positive for the Brewers is you are also adding Grandal to that list - .815 last year - and likely hoping Braun to be closer to 2017 - .823. If the Brewers have 6 of 8 starters slashing over .800 we will win a lot of games. 2b and SS being average would be more than enough
  6. The long lines were a bummer but it is still a cool event. My son got his picture with a couple players and there were quite a few players playing games with kids. It is a cool event. If your goal is a lot of autographs that would be hard with so many fans. I am glad it is packed though. Shows the fan base is building up more and more. Lots of energy and excitement for the Brewers. Lots of young fans in attendance. The Brewers market well. With the Bucks and brewers doing well it is a fun time to be a Milwaukee fan
  7. If Miley and Marwin ended up as Brewers I would be pumped. I have no idea how that would work payroll wise but if Stearns and Mark thought we had the money than we would be set up so well for this year. 1b - Aguilar/Thames (although you would think he would need to be moved to make salaries work) 2b - Gonzalez/Perez/Spang SS - Arcia/Perez/Gonzalez 3B - Shaw/Gonzalez C - Grandal/Pina OF - Yelich/Cain/Braun/Gamel/Thames SP - Chacin/Miley/Burnes/Nelson/Peralta/Woodruff/Davies/Anderson (although also seems like he would be gone RP - Hader/Jeffress/Knebel/a starter or two/Guerra/the lefty they traded for/Williams/Barnes That would lead to some interesting roster decisions for sure
  8. Would rather sign Miley actually.
  9. Not to derail the thread further, but he never threw anybody under the bus. That guy created legitimate chain-of-custody issues which is why Braun successfully fought the test on procedural grounds. Well since there is no news at 2b I guess we can blame Stearns for this thread going sideways. Here is what people point to when saying he threw the guy under the bus. Although you are right and I shouldn't use the phrase bc it is misleading. Maybe this report has been proven completely false https://www.si.com/si-wire/2013/08/19/ryan-braun-discredit-urine-collector
  10. ^^This, at least per the non-forgiving folks re: Braun (those who still cite him first and foremost as a cheater, for which he's now served his punishment and ever since which he's said & (more importantly) done the right things)... On a VERY related note, it seems curious that we aren't really seeing/hearing any of the outrage about Grandal (the signing thread I don't think ones cites that "he's a cheat"), but he was also a Biogenesis customer, part of that scandal, and suspended 50 games by MLB. The only thing -- and of course it was anything but small -- he didn't do that Braun did was publicly throw someone under the bus while fallibly trying to deny guilt. I LOVE Machado's talent and production. I don't care for what I saw & have heard of his character. I'd welcome the addition of his talent to our roster if it were to actually happen, but I'm not thrilled about him as a person. Thankfully -- I think -- it would seem the odds are really slim that he'd actually sign with MIL, which in the end probably renders all this speculation and the accompanying character vs. production dilemma moot. I guess I am probably one of the unforgiving people. I still really like Braun just hard for him to be my favorite Brewer anymore. It was that he cheated but it was much more how he responded and I think that is why people outside of Milwaukee dont like him. I am sure Braun wishes he could do a lot over and he has done the right things since the suspension but that doesnt mean his public image with change a ton. All that said I do get why fans of other teams would not forgive him. They have no reason to, they dont see him in the clubhouse, and what he did was pretty bad
  11. Are you okay with Ryan Braun being on the team? Yup, and it's not the same situation, not even close... That is your opinion and i get it but just asked fans from other teams to say who their least favorite players in the MLB are and Braun's name often comes up. Just did a quick google search and he made most "hated" lists each time and when there where threads about it Bran's name constantly was one of the first thrown out and the one with almost the most people agreeing. He is becoming less disliked and that could be because of his apologies, the time since it happened but it may be as much because he isnt the star he was and isnt in the spotlight as much. You are completely justified in thinking Braun isnt on the same level as Manny but there are many who dont agree. Although I think after this last playoffs Manny probably is easily public enemy number 1.
  12. Didnt mean to hijack the thread. I can see most dont agree with me Back to Machado I really do not want him because I dont want to spend the money at that position.
  13. Are you okay with Ryan Braun being on the team? There’s a difference between Braun’s situation and a guy deliberately trying to injure other players. One of the main things also is that when a guy is on your team and does something, it’s easier to look past what they’ve done since they are a part of your organization. We are also comparing one single event from 2011 compared to a repeat offender from as recently as 3 months ago. I honestly can’t believe how much people still talk bad about Braun from that long ago. Let it go and enjoy the generational talent that we have in him. He is one of the best, if not the best, to ever wear the Brewers uniform. Players as talented as him don’t play for your organization very often. I am glad to have braun but he cheated and he threw another human being under the bus when he cmgot caught. It wasn't one event. It was getting caught (we have no idea how often he did it) and then his subsequent response. I am fine with braun being on the team. Cheer for him all the time. That doesn't change what he did. Just like if Machado was a brewer fans would probably forgive what he did if he became a good player for the Brewers. Fans have long memories when the guy is on another team but short memories when he is on their team.
  14. Are you okay with Ryan Braun being on the team?
  15. Went into this offseason hoping for a catcher, 2b, one starting pitcher, and a lefty reliever. 2 of 4 so far. I guess they did sign a 2b but not super excited by Spangenberg. I can see not adding a starting pitcher if they think Nelson is healthy or Anderson/Davies will rebound. Another starter could allow Woodruff to go to the bullpen and then start as needed.
  16. Read someone saying the Yankees should go after thames because he would fit perfect in their stadium and on an al team. No idea if they have any interest but that could be nice. Who are the Twins trotting out at DH and 1B these days? They could do worse than Thames
  17. Thanks for putting that together. That is helpful and shows what the Brewers front office saw in Claudio. He may not pan out but I do feel like people are undervaluing him - comparing him to Dan Jennings is crazy
  18. I think Miley is going to get more than people expect with some of the contracts that have been thrown out there
  19. I don't know free agent pitchers enough but who are pitchers who have a really good pitch they don't use enough? That seemed like the Chacin and Miley strategy
  20. No idea what our actual cap is for salary but signing Ramos and Murphy would make that lineup really impressive Cain Murphy Yelich Braun Aguilar Shaw Ramos Arcia I honestly couldnt figure out who should be 4-7. You would likely be committing to go with a rotation of Chacin, Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Nelson/Anderson/Davies. You would also likely be trying to move a guy like thames or someone to free up a little cap. Wouldnt mind adding a bullpen arm with Burnes leaving the bullpen.
  21. He was bad last season because he was coming off surgery and seemingly couldn't even run at full speed when he first started back in the majors. After the trade to the Cubs he had a neutral dWAR for what it's worth. I have never heard of him having a reputation as "terrible" on defense pre-2018. (Granted he's a bat-first player obviously) Friends who are Cubs fans (not a great choice of friends I know) constantly talked about how terrible his defense was
  22. Murphy is terrible defensively if I remember right. His bat would fit well and maybe with how much we shift and how good Arcia is we could cover his liability.
  23. Can you get Kluber without Huira or Burnes? Would it cost at least one? Or both?
  24. Bauer's numbers make me a bit nervous because for his first 3 years he has really similar good not great numbers and then last year he became a stud. Would need to figure out why. I always get nervous about trading for someone after a career year. I haven't read much on him thought. Maybe he refined his stuff or started using a different pitch more.
  25. Different articles I have read says guys have sold out to hit for power causing them to be more dead pull hitters. Pulling the ball leads to more power so guys quit hitting opposite field. Defenses have adjusted. Pull hitting is advantage. Shifting is the proper adjustment. Stop complaining
