  1. Hello Milwaukee Taxpayers: We need more tax money at the Fiserv Forum so we can pay for a new LCD floor. If the Brewers scoreboard "needs" to be replaced every 5-10 years, how does that fare for this? Not going to work well at facilities that have Basketball and Ice Hockey, I would think. On the positive side -- have custom spots outside of the 3-point line for 4, 5, 6 pointers. NBA Jam: HE'S ON FIRE!!!!!
  2. Just in case this needed a bump... He's back 😉
  3. If I read this correctly, he is under control for one more year: Spotrac I know the Brewers cheesed Burnes off last year in arbitration. Do you try to sign him to an extension now? Maybe 5 years / 125M? That is 25M per year and gets him until he is 33. I'm guessing the Brewers don't have that much cash, though.
  4. True, but he started at 3B when he entered the Majors. He had hands of stone, so they moved him to the OF to allow him to be in the lineup. I guess the similarity would be that Braun started at an infield position, but was moved to the OF because of his defensive liability on the infield.
  5. I'm expecting to see an offense that is very different than what we have seen in the past. I will be happy if the Packers go 10-7. The offense will struggle to start off the season and people will question LaFleur's coaching ability to the point where they will be calling for a new skipper. Love will be fine, but he will be able to work within the offensive scheme instead of directing the scheme. My feeling was that Rodgers was all about "my way or the highway." I don't think I will pick up Love on my Fantasy Football team. Jones or Dillon? Maybe.
  6. My chance to yell at the clouds. I apologize if this was mentioned already. The broadcast had to be one of the worst directed broadcasts I have seen all year. Goal 1: let's make sure we see the batter get one or two steps out of the box before we flip to the camera where the play was made. Goal 2: make sure there are plenty of shots where it appears the cameras are in some type of hurricane or earthquake.
  7. Great article. I think we could do better than Ryan Noda. He is a rookie and has lots of control which is a positive. However, he K's at 34% and is hitting in the low .200's. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nodary01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&utm_campaign=2023-07-19_br#batting_advanced
  8. Charles Berthoud -- master of Bass. He did a pseudo collab with Jack Black. https://www.youtube.com/@CharlesBerthoud post10 -- the guy clears out culverts. Mindless things to watch to go to sleep: https://www.youtube.com/@post.10
  9. Quick reality check... this isn't "MLB: The Show" Nobody is going to offer more than 2 tier 1 players for him. This board, among others, have been clamoring for the "Cy Young" Burnes. Well, he has been pitching like that during his last handful of starts. So, let's trade him while he's hot? I'm excited about the season again -- especially with Yelich being all-star worthy. Build the foundation of solid starting pitching. Burnes is the cornerstone. Let's get another solid bat and another bullpen arm. Get into the playoffs and do some damage.
  10. The problem is that mainstream outlets will use bloggers as source material. Journalism is nothing like it used to be. How many times do we see misspellings on the crawlers in local and NATIONAL news outlets. It would be interesting to be in Jim Hoyt's journalism class now. It was, at least, interesting 30 years ago.
  11. Toyota is also spending a lot of $$$, I mean ¥¥¥, using hydrogen cells. I have seen videos on how there is an infrastructure in parts of California. It is interesting how the media doesn't address that much.
  12. I used the Three Possible Outcomes instead of Three True Outcomes. I apologize...
  13. I want to make sure I understand -- is OPS is the only thing that comes into play when talking about Keston Hiura? If so, then he is a prototypical definition of a 3PO player, correct?
  14. Hypothetically, at what point would you consider his callup a success? Likewise, what would be considered a failure? I would expect him to do better than Winker or Tellez. Calling him up and having him do the same as the majority of the roster is not a success. If he hits .220 and K's 35% of the time in 100 ABs, then it would be time for a DFA. Contrary to some, I'm stuck on the big K numbers. As said in the other thread, his K% in AAA this year is down to 23%, so I'm hopeful he will do better this time around. Perhaps now would be a time to trade him since he appears to have some value.
  15. Seconded...
  16. Winker is not the answer at DH. Putting Yelich is not the answer at DH because we have heard from different sources that sitting on the bench between at bats messes with your head. This is not only from the Brewers broadcast booth. Yelich is the best hitter on the team. Don't mess with what is working. IMHO, it is time to bring up Hiura. Before he gets my vote for all-star, he needs to get his K% close to 30% in the majors. 2022 saw a K% of 41.7%, with a 2021 value of 39.1%. That is not and cannot be acceptable. In AAA, his K% is 23.9%. I know that is at AAA, but it is very, very encouraging.
  17. I am so glad nobody kept highlighting my exit velocities, Signed, Luis Arreaz
  18. Things went wrong when they got rid of the Badger Tavern.
  19. To be honest, I did a little searching and didn't see anything like this. After last night's meltdown, it got me thinking about how much better Hader + Williams was. Williams has been lights out this year and he certainly would not have many saves if Hader was still around. It also doesn't address how tired the bullpen was -- that might have been solved with having one less starting arm and one more bullpen arm... but I digress. For fun, I thought I would see how the Hader trade has panned out so far. Recall, it was: Padres receive Josh Hader Brewers receive Robert Gasser (minors), Dinelson Lamet, Taylor Rogers and Esteury Ruiz. Hader: 0-1; 18 Saves in 31 appearances. ERA of 1.21. 29.2 IP, 45K .944 WHIP Gasser: AAA Nashville; 5-1 4.00 ERA; 74.1 IP; 1.251 WHIP; 87K; 2.9 K/BB Lamet: Put on Waivers and picked up by the Rockies 4 days after the trade Rogers: Currently with San Francisco; signed as a free agent on 12/28/22; had a 5.48 ERA in 24 appearances with Milwaukee Ruiz: Currently with Oakland; 3 games with the Brewers in 2022; was part of the trade where the Brewers received William Contreras and Joel Payamps. Not sure how Gasser will do. Happy with Contreras and Payamps. Would we say it was a push as far as who won this trade... so far?
  20. 26.5% K / PA through Friday at AAA. Would like to see that a little better. MiLB has him listed as a 1B. Would we rather have him platoon at 1B than bringing Miller over when Tellez is out?
  21. So, why do we have six starters? What is going to happen when Woodruff comes back?
  22. I watched some of the ESPN studio coverage after they won the CONCACAF Nations League to see if I could figure out what was going on. I didn't remember they were bringing Berhalter back. It does seem that Callaghan was able to do a much better job with shape and personnel decisions. I almost equate Callaghan with Erik Spoelstra. Spoelstra had no NBA playing experience and, if I recall correctly, was the video guy and learned a lot of his advanced concepts by doing video analysis. That is Callaghan's background. I guess he still "cuts the tape." I don't know why Berhalter had issues with Reyna during the WC. It was best that he wasn't with the team while they sorted it out. What that did show is how dominant the USMNT can be, although CONCACAF may be one of the weakest regions in the world. I'm excited for the future of the USMNT. I would like to see Callaghan still be an integral part of the staff. I guess the Crystal Palace coach has also expressed interest in coaching the USMNT. Hmmmmmm...
