  1. I'm a local user and had no problem using my credit card. Wait a week and see if the charge shows up on your credit card. If not I'd try again. Could have been some temporary issue.
  2. Mine was active right away. It's under Edit Profile, not Account Preferences if that helps. How did you pay for it?
  3. I'll try again though I thought it was pretty clear. I didn't take a position one way or the other on the existence of clutch and I didn't offer possible sources in support of it. The only stand I took on clutch is that I think it's a difficult statistical problem. I'll rephrase the statement I have a problem with as If there were such a thing as clutch, wouldn't a player being doing a disservice to his team by not performing at the same level in all situations? Others have previously followed up a statistical argument concerning clutch expressing the same idea as If there were such a thing as clutch, why wouldn't a player try harder all the time, not just in clutch situtations? I'm saying that IMO that attempt at a logical argument doesn't work. Human responses to given situations are partly conscious, partly subconscious and partly physiological so a player, if there were such a thing as clutch, wouldn't have full control over his responses in non-clutch situations. The difference in performance, if there were such a thing as clutch, would be the result of a difference in everything that controls a player's(or any human's) reactions to different situations. Bottom line is, I'm suggesting people debating the clutch issue, stick to the statistical argument or come up with a more logical logical argument.
  4. I mean, aren't they doing a diservice to their team by not always performaing at that level? I'm not going to argue the clutch argument(there's too many problems defining clutch situations, defining consistency, agreeing on the significance of differences), but I often see a statement like this associated with the argument and it bothers me. Essentially if some players were clutch, why wouldn't they try harder all the time. That presumes that player's reactions to various situations are at the conscious level and totally controllable by the player. Players are human and the concept of the subconcious mind and the idea that hormone levels, adrenaline for example, control human reactions to situations are well established and these aren't certainly fully under a player's control. So I don't think a statement like that adds anything to the debate, but I see it often.
  5. Brian came down quite hard on someone a few months ago for a 'fat chicks in packer gear' comment. These are the same sort of thing except directed at individuals.
  6. Edit: This post intentionally left blank.
  7. They got Bay from San Diego in 2003.
  8. Have I mentioned how much I hate facing Jeff Suppan? You can't hit him either?
  9. Man, I sure don't want the season to end. I want to see a game with Prince, Rickie, JJ, Corey and Nelson all in the lineup and Dennis starting. There's fun to be had the rest of the way watching at least some of these guys.
  10. That's discussed here: forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=9529.topic
  11. Why is Dana still pitching? Because he's good.
  12. They are 2 years apart. Hall was 18 when he started rookie ball in '98, Scar 21 when he started rookie ball in '99. Hall was 22 when he started AAA in '02', Scar 24 the same year and he didn't get to AAA until July it appears.
  13. Can you point us to the study that analyzes how accurate PECOTA projections have been for all rookies since BP began these projections?
  14. Why would you reply to a post you don't respect and then wind up going around 10 times with them? You can't convert everyone immediately though it seems like you're trying your best. Just because someone posted something unsubstantiated doesn't mean everyone or anyone else bought into it. The whole situation is frustrating. Not really, just don't take it as your job to right all wrongs.
  15. You wear your heart for JDLR on your sleeve, Bill. I like his upside but considering control has been his problem, I don't take much positive out of 50 pitches in 2 innings.
  16. The double should have easily been caught by Jenks but there have been a lot of deep flies.
  17. having to refresh is silly Sounds like a personal problem to me. No refreshing necessary. Personally I find Gameday too cluttered.
  18. Only the Crew could get into a pitcher's duel in friggin' COLORADO Nope: sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=250709127
  19. Anyone else pumped that Daron is back? Him being away made me realize just how much i like him. Actually, I was thinking how nice a relief Craig and the spanish guys were from Daron.
  20. I just heard the Colorado guy say that Hart is the fastest player on this team? Faster than Weeks and Hall? That's incredible. But i'm calling BS on that one. No, he's not but he was voted the PCL's best baserunner by league managers.
  21. when Clark comes back does Magruder get DFA'd or does one of the relievers get sent back down until September? Clark isn't on the dl so nothing would have to be done. Durro was sent down to make room for Corey.
  22. does "t ben Hate to pitch here because he can"t control his Curve Ball? Last year he gave up on throwing the curve in the strike zone and went with just the two fastballs and change and did well. He'll be fine.
  23. I guess you missed the smiley Hoffy. He not only watched it but ran in the right direction to where it went over the fence. According to some previous posts here I was expecting he'd run toward right. He only had the opportunities presented to him and since there were none, the conclusion was we can't draw any conclusions. I am excited for you though as I know Corey's been the object of your affection for at least 3 years.
  24. Looks like only one ball hit to center today - the double by LaRue in the 4th. Anyone see how Hart played it? Did he look OK? He played it fine off the wall though there wasn't much to it. Seemed he tracked the HR to LF center OK too.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif No conclusions to be drawn from today.
