  1. Segura will be better than Ransom or Izturis and cheaper than trying to sign a FA SS. So he will help. The two young arms give us a lot of talent in AA and AAA or in the majors next year. Next year we will have Nelson, Jungmann, Peralta Rogers, Thornburg, Burgos and Fiers and now the two arms from the Angels. That is a lot of young talent and we have guys like Bucci and Scarpetta coming off injuries Every single one of them unproven, and could be total busts.
  2. How do any of these guys help the Brewers win games NEXT year?? or even two years from now?? I do NOT want to lose for two years.
  3. 1) Segura was on the BA midseason top 50, so he is a top 50 prospect. 2) They're getting Greinke for like 10 starts... So?? You have an asset...isn't it your responsibility to get maximum value for that asset?? Otherwise why give up the asset?? You never know what could happen. Sickels has him at #78 in his most recent update. Was #66. And who says Zach won't sign an extension with Anaheim?? I would have asked for Trout or told them to get bent. I will take the one pick at the end of the year. Why settle for anything less then what you REALLY should get??
  4. Segura?? The #78 prospect?? Doug got bent over in this one. You have one of the top 10 Pitchers in all of baseball, and you can't get minimum of a top #50 prospect?? probably more realistically a top #25 prospect?? Terrible deal. None of these guys help the Brewers win games NEXT year.
  5. Consider me underwhelmed. A young SS and two AA pitchers for one of the best Pitchers in all of baseball?? Doug had all the leverage. Maybe I'm different or would be different than most GM's. I'd get EXACTLY what i wanted, or i wouldn't deal him. It's a matter of principle. I would have wanted at LEAST two AAA arms and Segura, or one VERY good ML arm, a AAA arm and Segura.
  6. Yes, take a worse package because they're not close enough to the majors. Oh, so guys that are already in the majors, or very close to it, are WORSE than young guys that may or may not pan out?? Seems to me the major leaguers have already proven themselves, or they wouldn't be major leaguers. Besides, it's not like you are going to get some scrub major leaguers for Zach anyway. He's a star. You get stars in return or you don't deal him. Period. For instance, the White Sox desperately want Zach as has been reported. Ok, so you play on that desperation...I tell the Sox, that if they really want Zach, a package MUST include Paul Konerko. Yes, he's 36, but he still rakes, and probably will for at least 2-3 more years. He'd look awfully good as at least a 2-3 year replacement for Fielder. No, that wouldn't be all I want of course, I better also get at least ONE very good prospect like Addison reed as well. But since Chicago isn't loaded with young talent, Konerko MUST be part of the deal. See how desperate they are for Zach.
  7. Did they?? You add one more year to what you offered(supposedly), and make it 6 years /134 Million and I bet he's already signed the contract and we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  8. If Zach HAS to be traded, then take the best package of Major leaguers, or close to major leaguers as you can. It's the only way to maintain some semblance of a chance to win the next couple years. Screw A, AA prospects, they are too far away to matter.
  9. I would take re signing Zach over any trade. Pay the man. I for one, do not want to go back to "rebuilding mode". Went through that enough as a Brewer fan.
  10. Signing Prince, pays for itself over time though. When you consider the draw he is, his merchandise etc etc. To me it's a no brainer, but it's also not my money.
  11. For the life of me, I could never ever figure out why fans criticize how much money a ball club is paying someone. Is it your money?? NO! And to say it restricts them from resigning Greinke etc. Just save it. You have no idea what Atanassio has in mind for payroll etc. If it's your money then complain all you want, otherwise, I wish people would just shut their pie holes about how much their team spends on certain players.
  12. 4 is more than enough for Garcia. The way he looks like Cy Young at Busch stadium against the Crew?? Gonna have to win two at home now. Good luck with that.
  13. This was brought up on MLB channel last night, and I think they made a great point. Now that the series is guaranteed to go back to Milwaukee, would you, if you were RR, go with Marcum tonight instead, and pitch Greinke in Game 6?? The thought being Greinke is unbeaten at home, which would then guarantee you a game 7(if needed), with Yo going. Can you imagine a better scenario than that?? Your two best $$ pitchers going at home for the chance to go to the World Series?? I think the only downside to doing this would be the long rest Greinke would have, but otherwise, I actually think this might be one of the smartest things RR could do at this point. He won't, but I think he should. What say you BF.net nation??
  14. I'd still rather not see them have to win two at home to win it though. Getting it home with 2 games to win one is the key. Win tomorrow and they are sitting pretty.
  15. I just don't understand what gets into this teams heads when they play on the road?? Baseball is baseball, no matter where it's played. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball. It really is a simple game if you think about it. But on the road, this team makes it so much harder than it really is. It's not like they are unfamiliar with Busch stadium either.
  16. But even more ridiculous(if those ARE the actual Sunday start times), to have the game in Philadelphia start at 9:30pm.
  17. I think the biggest problem they may be facing is the city of Philadelphia having both the Eagles and Phillies both having home games on Sunday. if I'm not mistaken, both stadiums are right next to each other, and that presents alot of traffic and parking issues. Not to mention accomodating their fans. The Eagles kickoff at 1:00 EDT, so I'm sure they are trying to figure out a way to start the Phillies game AFTER the Eagles game is completed, and then trying to work the rest of the teams schedules around that. Just a guess. Not too mention the Packers play a 3:15 game on Sunday, so they won't be done until about 6:30 Central time. Which is probably right around the time they would want to start the Phillies game as well. If TBS's listed game times for Sunday are correct, I'm guessing you are going to see Wisconsin fans get screwed and the Brewers will get the 5:00 start, becauset he Phillies game would cause many more conflicts.
  18. I'm just curious, does anyone know if you can "transfer" the right to someone else to purchase. For instance, if I'm not interested, can I send my buddy the email with the link, so he can order them if he wants??
  19. While it usually isn't safe to assume, we are with the Eric Farris call up. There really isn't any reason to bring him up over Green at this point which is leading many to believe he is a PTBNL for the Mets. If Farris is a defensive move then you might as well just start Counsell since neither can hit. That's all this is, is wild assumptions by everyone here. Everyone also thought Green was going to the Indians for CC as well and that didn't happen. Just relax. Green is also much more of a 3B as opposed to a 2B, so that might be a factor as well. I am assuming nothing, and will bet that come seasons end, Green is still a Brewer. Melvin did say that it wouldn't be any of their top prospects going in the Krod deal.
  20. Comments likethis by fans have always driven me absolutely crazy. Why do the fans care how much a player or a manager or coach might get paid?? Or make comments like "he's not worth that much". IT'S NOT YOUR MONEY!! So who cares?? I have always been one to believe you do whatever it takes financially to help your team succeed. If it means paying a manager 3-4 million a year, so be it. It's Mark A's money, not mine.
  21. Is Doug losing it?? He said "I'm working on something" and gives the impression it's something of note. No Doug, this is nothing. I guess that is what I get for kind of expecting it to be for Harang.
  22. Question for all of you......Does anyone know if the Brewers have a stand during weekday games where they sell $1 hotdogs and $1 sodas, exclusively?? I have a buddy that says he thinks he heard this. Is this true?? If so, where is the stand located?? Thanks.
  23. Watch it be the Cubs, even if they supposedly can't spend any money because of the sale. That's my gut feel.
  24. Well depending on who they would've gotten back(Lee, Peavey or Halladay who are all signed through next year). I would have done it. Unless DM is willing to go out into FA next year and get a legitimate top of the rotation starter or two, this team will be no better next year.
  25. What exactly did you want him to do?Give up Gamel or Escobar if that is what it was going to take to get a LEGITIMATE 1 or 2 starter. Offer better prospects for a DECENT arm if you have to. But most of all I didn't want to have to see the Brewers trot out Mike Burns or Carlos Villanueva any more. That's just embarrassing and gives you almost NO chance to win 2 out of every 5 starts.
