  1. Nothing bad but it looks like the Brewers think the division is still in play and Nelson/Anderson/Davies are their best pitchers. If the goal is the division still then the Cubs games count twice as much as the Reds game.
  2. Yes the Brewers technically hold their fate in their own hands and most certainly do if they go 7-0 vs the Cubs.
  3. Since #163 counts toward the final record I will go with 18-11.
  4. Also keep in mind that the Brewers have a bunch of injured catchers right now so if one or more are still hurt during the playoffs then minor leaguers like Heineman and Garcia could replace them even though they are not on the 40 man now. Might also make sense to acquire a veteran catcher tomorrow and assign him to the minors.
  5. Very true, I am finally at the point where I don't think this team is smoke and mirrors and will be in this race until the end. Anderson/Nelson/Davies plus Swarzek/Hader/Knebel gives me lots of confidence.
  6. I personally believe any adds/deletions to the 40 man roster should go on the MLB forum as even people that don't follow the minors closely may want to know who is on the Brewers 40 man.
  7. It is pretty impressive that Harrison's stats are pretty much the same since being promoted to Carolina where many have struggled. Also nice to see him healthy a full season. It is close but would probably go Phillips over Harrison
  8. Regarding Houle can they send him even though he is an upcoming minor league free agent?
  9. No, just has to be on the 40 man.
  10. Roster management is a key reason. If he doesn't do that great then they added him to the 40 man for the entire off season for no reason and will burn an option once he goes to AA or AAA next year. If he does do great then he will likely stick in the rotation to start next year as well which results in one less year of team control. If they were in serious contention for a World Series they might consider it but the Brewers playoff chances are fading. Now if the Brewers are in it with a couple of weeks to play and there is a major injury to somebody like Nelson then Burnes might be the right call and would be eligible for the post season.
  11. Read pretty good analysis from a guy from Twitter. Have not seen much anywhere else regarding why they might have been interested in him. Basically could be a decent righty specialist out of the bullpen. https://twitter.com/dgo151/status/900367169015382016
  12. There is at least one writer that has Pina on the MLB All-Rookie team: https://calltothepen.com/2017/08/19/mlb-rookie-team-far/2/
  13. If the Brewers want a third catcher and Bandy isn't ready I imagine Susac has a pretty good chance of landing on the 60 day DL.
  14. Has struggled quite a bit in August but yes has exceeded pretty much everybody's expectations and is a heck of a lot more fun than a player not meeting expectations. Also like how he has started over 80% of the Brewers games at cleanup.
  15. Susac has had ongoing trap and headache issues this year. He's a talented player. He also can be optioned next year, which makes him valuable as a 2nd/3rd catcher. I don't think the Brewers would just release him. He's worth something to somebody. He's also still worth something to the Brewers. I don't think he is worth a 40 man spot for the Brewers anymore. There isn't much difference between Susac and Tyler Heineman at this point. Regarding Diplan, I think he gets protected. I don't like the Diaz comparison because Diplan was always higher regarded, two years younger and further along than Diaz was. I still wouldn't take Diaz over Diplan.
  16. I have a feeling he is gone after this season either through the rule 5 draft or the PTBNL in the trade with the Mets.
  17. Personally I love the ability to cancel online service whenever I want for whatever reason. Some months I will have Sling, some not, Some months Netflix, some Hulu or WWE network. It all depends on what I want to watch, how much time I have and what offers these companies are giving me to come back. Plus I don't have to pay cable's monthly fee for HD boxes, remotes, FCC charges and the like. It was always a pain to cancel cable as well, with these streaming services it is just a click of the button. My antenna picks up the local stations great too.
  18. Or they could have just gone with their original plan of Woodruff Friday and Garza Saturday but they were planning all along to send Woodruff down no matter how well he pitched or poorly Garza did.
  19. I don't think the Garcia thing is totally outrageous. While I can't see them adding Garcia at the expense of Nottingham, Susac has shown nothing since becoming a Brewer and Susac/Garcia are the exact same age. Can't totally ignore the season Garcia has had and the potential for things to just click for a catcher at a later age similar to Pina. More likely scenario is they DFA Susac and resign Garcia to a minor league deal.
  20. The Brewers face the last place Giants for 3 games and don't have to go against Madison Bumgarner as he pitched yesterday.
  21. Glad they went with Knebel, Jeffress has been bad this year and the Brewers needed the win.
  22. Once the next homestand start 40% of their games will be against the Cubs or Cardinals, 60% if the Pirates are still in it. Just have to tread water the rest of the trip as there is plenty of opportunity in the final stretch run.
  23. It looks like Garza is now pitching Friday and Woodruff Saturday so maybe the Brewers are thinking the same thing.
  24. I agree with your prediction Mass, not too much of a roster crunch this off season, should have some flexibility on the 40 man.
  25. Unfortunate injury, he will then still be a rookie next year. It does bring up the question of if they will send him to the minors at the start of next year in order to preserve another year of service and control him through 2024. Even if they trade Broxton probably could justify Phillips over Brinson to start the year.
