  1. I don't expect much here but for a guy that has made a ton of money over his career and already reached 10+ years in the majors he must really want to pitch and end his career on a high note. We'll see what happens but assuming at this point he starts against the Cubs.
  2. That is strange that Winker continues to be horrendous when being the DH.
  3. With the lineups out it is now a given that Willy Adames has qualified for the Brewers Wall of Honor based on 2000 plate appearances.
  4. Regarding Frelick, I missed it but he had a horrendous strikeout call against him on Wednesday. I don't know if there is any way to get information like this for the season but if umps are calling the high strike against Frelick it could be a contributing factor to some of his struggles this season.
  5. We are no where near this point yet but a DFA would get him off the 40 man and perhaps somebody would take on the contract. Kind of what they did with Josh Lindblom.
  6. Yelich is now only 1 SB away from being in the 200 HR and 200 SB club, which he would be the 53rd player. From what I can tell there have been 11 former Brewers on that list, including Yelich. (Aaron, Braun, Cameron, Grissom, McCutchen, Molitor, Sheffield, White, Wynn, Yelich, Yount)
  7. I would guess Blalock is very temporary and may not even pitch again, keeping the spot warm until Junis gets to San Diego.
  8. I really hate how the Brewers insist on having a crappy pitcher occupy the last spot like Hernandez and White. I understand that they are seeing what sticks and they could find success like they have with others but when they find out that a guy like Herget doesn't suck just stick with him instead of rotating in bad players.
  9. Credit to the Brewers for sticking with him after that White Sox start, some of it was out of necessity but they could have done a DFA like Meeker and went with somebody else. They have now been rewarded with three excellent starts in a row. Julio Teheran did something similar last year with early success and then the bottom fell out but even if that happens it has been nice that Myers has been able to stabilize the rotation when the Brewers needed it the most. Best case scenario is they have a cheap starting pitcher for a number of years. Also like that this stings a bit for the Guardians as we have had to watch Brantley and Fry have success with them.
  10. Wouldn't blame Detroit for trying again, worked out last time.
  11. Perkins is better than Frelick, probably needs to go to AAA once Mitchell is back.
  12. I think a reunion with Mark Canha could make sense as a OF/1B/DH, he still hits lefties extremely well so could offset some of the weakness we have right now putting Perkins/Frelick/Mitchell/Bauers in the batting order against LHP.
  13. I think it was somewhere in this game thread where somebody mentioned the game thread isn't about big picture and just this game. However, this game stings less for me because Chourio is the guy and not a couple years down the road, this season. Exciting times.
  14. I was all for trading him in the off-season but not going to fool anybody now.
  15. Not for the type of pitching they would get for Adames at this point.
  16. It's no doubt Peralta unless they trade for a top of the rotation starter.
  17. Christian Yelich has been sitting on 199 HR since May 29th, should also get to 200 SB this season as well, currently at 194.
  18. If Rodriguez pitches well they won't need to bring up another starter barring another injury. There is also only so many pitchers they can allocate to the 40 man roster, currently at 27 pitchers. Yes, there are 6 on the 60 man IL but eventually some will come back. Think they will give Ashby another shot if needed and also looking at Clarke as a potential starter but good to have Patrick as an option.
  19. Sitting in the RF bleachers Friday and Saturday. Hope to catch HR 200 from Yelich and a couple of Brewers wins
  20. Not really, they will have doubters until they can prove themselves in the playoffs. Still concerned about starting pitching but that wasn't really a problem during the series and Ashby's performance gives me a little hope there. Will likely need a RH hitting OF upgrade at some point unless Chourio figures it out by the end of July. Getting Williams back makes the bullpen better and they win game 2 with a better pitcher in that spot.
  21. It is true, if Drew Rasmussen was a Cy Young winner it still wouldn't be a bad trade. Bad players don't stick. Yelich and Peralta were bad trades for the Marlins and Mariners but wouldn't be listed as a bad trade. Reese Olson would be a great player to have on the roster so makes no sense to ignore that.
  22. The Yelich trade isn't complex, no doubt one of the best Brewers trades ever, the Marlins received negative in return. Even if you don't agree with the extension, it wasn't part of the trade. Also, agree with the point that limiting it to active players by nature is going to exclude bad trades. Even though the Brewers are in first I think most would like some better starting pitching so that Norris trade will continue to sting.
  23. Yes he will get his plaque, will qualify sometime this month.
  24. Pretty much the entire bullpen right now is filled with unproven guys when acquired. Payamps, Peguero, Milner, Hudson, Megill, Wilson, Koenig. The starter today Rea as well.
  25. Don't see them holding a spot for 60 day IL guys, guessing another expendable pitcher once Herget is not available for a couple of days.
