Can't hit ia a little strong but he is average at best at hitting this point in his career. Just not good.enough. I would love a 30 year old Canha but he is long gone and not coming back.
Pitching staff is pretty solid right now, Will be interesting to see who the odd man odd is with Woodruff back, or who gets injured. Can't imagine they want to option Uribe or DFA Mejia with the way he is pitching.
I don't mind what the Brewers did with Anderson in the off season but don't know why we have to minimize this acquisition by the Cubs. They obtained the best player that was traded at the deadline, he is a plus on offense and defense this season and it is wishful thinking that he will turn into a pumpkin these final 50 games. The Cubs acquired a difference maker and the Brewers got some average guys that make them incrementally better. Maybe that is the way to go and proper use of prospect capital but as a fan right now it is frustrating.
Certainly a double whammy that the Brewers main competition got their guy and the Brewers failed to address a major weakness at 3B. Anderson isn't the solution.
C or C+, they got some average players where they were horrible at during the year. Didn't give up much so that is where the + comes in. Needed one more bat on the last day and it never came.
With Caratini likely gone would consider Henry/Navarrato as a short term option until they gain the extra year of control from Quero. Somebody has to fill the backup catcher role.
Would rather have Urias up instead of Turang but obviously not in the Brewers plans so might as well get a pitching prospect before a non tender in the off season.
Nice to see Toro play well in his short stint in the majors and in the minors. Hiura gets a lot of talk but Toro is around the same age, would be nice if the Brewers can salvage something out of the Winker trade.
If he was less than 100% during that June 11th game he would not have been able to be optioned on the 14th. I guess it could be not related to baseball as you mention.
If they are still trying to trade Hiura or use as a fallback option if everything fall through I still think they should DFA Winker and bring up Toro for the next week or so. They would still have the ability to option Toro if the acquire a bat or two at the deadline. He has been hot and can be a short term fix.
I do agree that there could be some value in Houser for a contender but will be hard to get an offensive contributer to help now in return from a contender.
There really isn't anything factual out there. He was optioned after those rehab starts and hasn't pitched since. If he was injured still they wouldn't have been able to option him so kind of bizarre.
I don't think he is buy low as the Mariners don't have a lot of incentive to sell him. They probably still have thought of making the playoffs, with them having high expectations going into the season. If somebody wants France will have to maybe even overpay to pry him away and doubt the Brewers would do that.
I really think that would be Justin Turner but don't think the Red Sox get rid of him anymore. Would help at 1B, DH and leadership. In an alternate universe Turner has already been a Brewer a few years.
