  1. That would appear to be a lateral move, doesn't really improve the current team and get no potential players to help the team in the future. If it is a move to help the current team not real interested in filling the 1B hole to create an even larger hole at SS.
  2. I do think there would have been playing time for Taylor, especially with the injury history of Frelick/Mitchell and the way Wiemer struggled and the necessity for more time in AAA. With such a minimal cost would have liked to have seen if Taylor could continue his second half success. Agree with Briggs that Taylor will the opportunity with the Mets so is a good spot for him, with the Mets potentially getting a productive, cost controlled outfielder for a couple of years.
  3. A day later and would have liked if the Brewers would have received a bit more. If they like Rea more than Houser, fine, but still would think Houser was worth more when other starters are getting so much in free agency. Would be interesting to see if they were shopping Houser all off season and just didn't find other takers. If they end up spending this money elsewhere then have to take that into consideration but I am skeptical their team salary will meet or exceed the 2023 amount.
  4. That was true until 2023, brutal against lefties last year.
  5. I don't think Burnes will be negative, he knows what to expect from arbitration and based on some of his comments is content with this being the last season with the Brewers. The Brewers have done a lot of half measures over the years, balancing staying competitive and still bringing in fans. If they do keep Burnes I hope they make some moves to make this offense better. If they roll with the youngsters I don't see it going well and being to make it up with a couple of mid season pickups like they did with Canha/Santana.
  6. Probably could sell Jackson's Churros as well.
  7. Another thread reminded me that "man up" can also be added to the Bingo card.
  8. It doesn't make much sense to project Gasser as a bullpen guy to start the year when they have Elvis and limited SP depth. Just project random minor league catcher as a backup, it certainly won't be Quero. Jones has a better chance of a DFA than an opening day spot, Perkins or Miller there. At least he will always have that hit against the Cubs.
  9. These signings/trade are guys on the fringe/depth. If they were acquiring more high end, high leverage relievers then maybe so but they are not doing that.
  10. Nice to have another major league caliber player with an option, minimal salary. Could be this year's Guerra or Wilson, could go either way.
  11. That would be a tough one for the Brewers to even approach in dealing with Yelich, the media and the fanbase. I think it is something that potentially could happen if Yelich has a solid 2024, the team is average and a contender is looking for a guy like Yelich to get them over the top at the deadline. Then Yelich may be more inclined to accept a trade.
  12. They definitely messed up on the surplus value of Carlos Rodriguez the pitcher. It's stuff like that which makes it hard to take their trade values seriously.
  13. Enter code KWIKTRIP to get 50% off select tickets to those Fiserv Hockey games.
  14. Maybe the trade by the Dodgers increases an Adames trade by getting a future replacement for Adames. Sure seems like Sweeney could be ready sometime 2024.
  15. Regarding Mahomes he did make the statement about being fine with refs letting the players play at the end of the game last week so is consistent. It was such an obvious offsides though so difficult to not call it there. Heck of a play by Kelce as well.
  16. Having a peak Grandal type player at $25 million a year is a deal, especially 10 years from now. I'm sure the White Sox would have loved two one year deals versus the four they had to give him, with the latter two being negative production.
  17. First time going to a Bucks game in over a year, this tournament was a nice opportunity to get upper level middle tickets for less than $10 a piece. Fun game with pretty much no defense, the Bucks would hit a three and immediately give up a layup. They also throw stuff in the crowd after a made three and that was getting pretty annoying. Maybe one of the best things about this tournament is pretty much guarantee the name players will play instead of load management. Could buy these tickets for my kids and know they will see Giannis and Lillard, which is important driving from the Madison area.
  18. I think competition is good. If not traded I would love for Frelick/Wiemer/Mitchell continue to get better and show the Brewers they deserve to start.
  19. Since they went with Varland last year I'm going to say they draft somebody. I'll go with wild left handed reliever Andrew Magno of the Tigers, the Tigers owe the Brewers one for Reese Olson. If the Brewers move toward a soft rebuild maybe Ian Bedell is the pick, think he will be a decent mid rotation starter down the road and even better to take somebody away from the Cardinals.
  20. I'm all for Chourio going to the HOF as a Brewer but considering they still have Yelich signed for the next five years, still hoping he is next.
  21. I kind of like Taylor as the 4th outfielder for his next three arbitration years as he plays all three OF positions well, shouldn't cost too much and the trade value just isn't there. Hope they are shopping Frelick to see if another team overvalues him. Based on the poll this is the minority opinion but if his trade value is really around 35 then this might be peak value.
  22. Agree with you SeaBass, we can have debates about potential transactions but once it's a done deal the debate is over. We are all Brewers fans and excited to see what is to come in the next decade. I think as Brewers fans sometimes we think about the worst outcomes but this signing appears to give hope and excitement to the fanbase.
  23. Well that is why platoons are used so much, the best depends on the guy pitching. Really good players are the best no matter who pitches but the Brewers will never have a lineup full of really good players that don't require a platoon.
  24. To me it doesn't even matter what the option year numbers are. Get two more years in his prime 20s if he is a superstar without further commitment.
  25. I really don't think you can make a conclusion on Burnes if a Chourio extension is done, could really go either way. Often times playing the young guys is a sign of a rebuild but not necessarily the case here.
