  1. With all of the off days it has basically acted as a 6 man rotation even though only using 5. Trying to get Miley through the rest of the season without anI stint.
  2. As expected, bringing up a reliever for one game before calling up Saturday's starter.
  3. Important series, win it and they further distance themselves from the Phillies and Cubs. Keep an eye on the Cubs but also nice to stay ahead and win tie breakers with these wild card teams just in case.
  4. Even if Rea or somebody else is starting Saturday there is a decent chance somebody is up for just tonight.
  5. Prior to today Teheran was a potential callup but he looked horrible today, probably safe to just DFA him if they need room on the 40 man at some point.
  6. I guess I didn't even realize that Donaldson was still on the 60 day IL. The Brewers can get the best of both worlds then. Call up Black, release Anderson, and Donaldson isn't taking up a 40 man spot until he is ready Mid September.
  7. The Brewers obviously have no faith in Anderson with his 4 starts in August. If they want to switch Anderson with Donaldson, fine. Would prefer Black but don't need dead weight like Anderson on the roster.
  8. If it is a guy like Toro/Miller/Rea or another guy that has been up and down then not likely. Not expecting it, but if it is a Black or Gasser might as well add them to the 40 man today.
  9. With the open 40 man roster spot do wonder if the Brewers fill it today to add another player to postseason eligibility. It's pretty easy to add another guy from the organization to the postseason if injury happens but might as well fill the 40 man at August 31.
  10. Pretty sure nobody cares if Mark A pockets more money so no I don't think people here would be calling the Brewers genius for doing the same thing if the Brewers fell out of contention. More likely people would be calling the Brewers a poverty franchise, cheap ass and so forth.
  11. Doubt these guys make it to the Brewers. A number of NL teams below the Brewers fighting for the wild card plus AL teams like the Rangers, Astros, Blue Jays, Twins.
  12. If a guy like Black is good enough to start Friday he is good enough to start now. Not sure what magic September 1 holds, there is no advantage with service time or rookie of the year eligibility.
  13. Nice, a surprise today but Cecil Cooper only .06% for all star and 200 hit season:
  14. He's a multi inning guy so will likely try to get 3+ innings out of him.
  15. Can't say I remember Spiers as a Met, nice one.
  16. Very random but the Brewers are on the immaculate grid game today and one of the guys I always remember from the Brewers is Bob Sebra because he started the brawl against the Mariners in 1990 and never played again after that. Also, recall that he started his career with the Rangers. So put him in for Brewers and Rangers and he is at .07%, never got a percentage even close to that low before and doubt I ever will again. Anybody else play immaculate grid and what was the lowest percentage you ever had for a Brewers player?
  17. The Brewers will pass 2 million in attendance on Sunday. Currently averaging 30,902 a game compared to 30,155 last year. The average may go down with summer coming to an end but with the team in first it very well may go up still, plus 12 of final 19 at home on the weekend.
  18. The article mentioned "Brewers officials understood they would need to part with at least one of their top five prospects for Alonso"
  19. I really don't think that extra year of minor league control matter much since any team can pick him up in the rule 5 draft at that same salary,
  20. Getting tired of these two game series with the Twins but the Brewers likely return the favor from earlier in the year and win both.
  21. Tough stretch for the Reds, 11 games in 10 days, then play the Cubs for three games. Cubs have been playing easy teams but when they get to the Brewers will be playing the end of 13 games in a row. The Brewers on the other hand have had a ton of days off lately including two this week.
  22. They can DFA Winker anytime they want. Winker seems to have a bad reputation but appears to mesh well with this clubhouse/organization and are not in a hurry to DFA him.
  23. Houser has been talked about being talked about being taken out of the rotation for years, even by Counsell this past spring. However, he always ends up in the rotation. Can't see him being removed for the final month. Not likely going to sniff a playoff start but he eats up innings and starts every year. Gomez trade still paying off.
  24. I thought they would have another good game today. Could be different against Scherzer tomorrow but it was nice to face a couple of the Rangers weaker pitchers to start the series.
  25. Not real impressed with him. He has done well this year but would say he is outperforming. Wouldn't be surprised to see back to back offensive outbursts.
