Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Trade: #Rays send Shields, Davis and a player to be named or cash to #Royals for Myers, Odorizzi, Montogmery, Leonard. Wow, what a sick haul for Tampa

Toronto is taking on a couple of the worst contracts in baseball in this trade in my opinion in Reyes and Buerhle (though I was wrong about him this past year)Depending on the players actually going to Miami, I think I actually like this trade from a business/bottom line standpoint for Miami

Yeah, that was ridiculous.........superstar effort on that

I vividly remember Braggs ripping a line drive to 2nd that was so vicious, Billy Ripkin couldn't even get a glove up in time to protect himself.....hardest hit ball i have ever seen

The MVP is Matt Erickson....I am going to keep pimping him for bigger and better roles in this organization

Quick note on Moran, he is from the same hometown as BJ Surhoff.

The list linked above was interesting and exhaustive if a little bit skewed in accuracy. One of the players on the list, Alexander Bostic is a lefthander for Weddington High School in North Carolina, where I am an assistant coach. We won the state championship this past year as Bostic, then a junior, went 12-0 on the mound, with 90 innings pitched - 36 hits plus 46 walks and 143 k's against top competition (he went head to head vs. Ty Buttrey who got 1.3 million to sign with the Red Sox -neither gave up a run). Bostic also hit 9 home runs including 1 that hit the scoreboard at a minor league park (only 1 minor leaguer had ever hit scoreboard before) and had a 1.71 OPS in his last 20 games. Can you tell I handled the stats for Weddington..... Bostic, who is committed to Clemson (the Clemson coach said in March that Bostic would be his Saturday starter if he could enroll him 2 years early) sat at 90 at the perfect game outing in Minneapolis this summer before leaving with a broken cheekbone from a foul ball. I think he should be picked in the first 40 picks or so as he is 6'4 205 and projectible and is a great, smart kid. Someone to think of for the Brewers in the 2nd round perhaps.

This decision is ballsy but needed if they want to determine whether they need to bring AGON back next year....if Segura shows he can handle the load, that frees up a good chunk of money for other resources next year.

Ben gets into the moment, you’ll enjoy his take on the shot. You’ll get a quick update on Car Survivor 3 with Ben and Jill Cacic, then the Hunter Morris walk off HR and finally Hunter getting pied. I guarantee that you’ll have a smile on your face after watching this. Just stay with the video and you’ll see all three. After the 2 1/2 minute intro, stay for the walk off, the reaction was hilarious....the interview with Morris was neat too....I thin k I may want to see him before the season is up in Milwaukee.

Growing concerns that Hamilton's recent struggles and cryptic comment suggest serious problems http://deadspin.com/5931354/something-weird-is-going-on-with-josh-hamilton?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

Really excited about Hellweg.......looked into his stats a little deeper and it is all about his command....he was hitting 98 last night and Jill Cacic fro the AA club had an ok interview with him here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmOi19k7wyU&feature=youtu.be his Midwest league stats from a few years ago were very interesting: 50 innings - 24 hits - 52 walks..... 4 of his last 5 starts have been ridiculous too with 1 clunker

I would be really interested to know how he researched the book....my great uncle was murdered in 1919 and I always wanted to research that case for a book as well.

I still think that is over-valuing our guys by a fair piece.....By the time of our playoff series, Upton was about as feared a hitter as Braun and Skaggs could come in a rotation right now and be a competent 3 I think......

Wow, Arizona has a bright future.....I call shenanigans on the Gallardo talk....I think the D backs need a guy like Hart way more than Gallardo personally....they have a chance to catch up to the Giants for sure, and maybe the Dodgers too depending on LA's moves today

In 3 starts vs. NL central opponents this years, Masterson has thrown 23 innings, giving up 15 baserunners versus 1 earned run and 24 k's.

Albuquerque's Jerry Sands ties PCL record with 2 grand slams off Seth McClung in first four innings of tonight's second game. I coach high school baseball in North Carolina (we won the state title this past year) and our catcher got a scholarship to Catawba, where Sands went to school, so I follow him and think he could be a stud eventually.....

Quintero was likely available because of a racially insensitive gesture http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/bruce-chen-interview-interrupted-teammate-humberto-quintero-making-153142438--mlb.html My guess is a guy such as Jorge Bonifacio from Kane County....a guy several levels down with some skill....I will be disappointed if we get a stiff back for a decent player with worth like Georgie.

Wright, Cabrera, Beltre, Freese are the only 3B having better seasons than ARAM in my mind.....yes, there are diminishing returns on a hefty contract, but the guy has played well and is a bigtime asset.

Greinke, who leads the majors in fielding independent ERA, would have been a game chganger for the Rangers...In their final 16 games of the season, they play the Angels, who are 4 games back currently, 6 times, and the A's, who are 4.5 back, 7 times. Maybe Aramis can go to the A's in a nice package to rub some salt in the Rangers stingy wounds.
