  1. Wow, igor, thanks for your post - it was brilliant and spoke to what I was not skilled enough to state myself....and pepsi, that freakish ability that igor spoke to is still lurking....if I was the Yankees I would use that Arod money to throw a AA pitcher to the Brewers for Weeks and hope to catch that lightning in a bottle (or wrists).
  2. This is the poster the Bucks gave away that shows how much taller Giannis is from draft night....it looks like more than the 1 1/4 inches they state actually.....I see him as eventually being a 7 foot Magic with the right coaching.....can we coax Phil Jackson out of retirement if we get Jabari Parker?(Wishful thinking I know). Giannis is younger than Embiid and 3 months older than Parker and Wiggins....He is doing some amazing things....his block last night after getting off a screen may be the best play he has made all year and among the best in the nba this year and the freaking Bucks bench does not even react. Shameful. http://sports.cbsimg.net/images/visual/whatshot/011114_GreekPoster.jpg and here is the vine of the block https://t.co/BPsfO9FBmz
  3. Again, I make a differentiation between busts such as Gold, Williamson and others like Weeks and Sheffield (A very good call by the way). My favorite player of all time was injury ravaged in the early part of his career and was a cocaine user....Molitor overcame this and more to become a Hall of Fame player. Weeks has not been able to rise above his injuries and deficits in his skill set, and while he did have some +.800 OPS seasons, his career as a whole with the Brewers has fallen very shy of what my own expectations were.
  4. ok, twirly, that was awesome......the large display of unwritten rules is my favorite
  5. I am familiar with Destino as we faced him in 2012 in NC state semifinals.....great makeup, and his stuff has really come a long way....has been well-coached and has pitched in cold-weather (an under-rated attribute to me) already as he is from Asheville area.
  6. A harsh topic title to be sure, especially considering I have always rooted earnestly for Weeks to turn the corner from a health and production standpoint. Weeks turning a dp has been a staple on my page for a few years now, and I have always thought THIS would be the year that Weeks would put it all together and be a huge impact player. However, it is looking like Weeks' Brewer career may be coming to an end through outright release or trade, and a review of his career stats paints an even harsher portrait than I would have thought. A .247 career average with just over 100 home runs and a mortifying k rate have been buttressed by the fact he never became a quality defender or a versatile player. He has simply been horribly disappointing for a guy I certainly believed had superstar potential - a number 2 overall pick with bat speed few possess. Was it the injuries, especially to his wrist that sapped his abilities? Not sure, and I do hesitate to call him the biggest Brewer disappointment due to this. In the end however, I cannot think of more wasted talent (Glenn Braggs is second for me, followed by Sixto Lezcano) Just a quick edit to respond to JimH5's point.....Weeks is a guy that was looked at as a superstar, a guy that broke records and produced expectations in a way that none of those other disappointments can come close to. A guy like JM Gold can not even be in this conversation in my view...I may have been foolish but I expected a Lou Whitiker type career for Weeks - Hall of Fame credentials
  7. I live in Charlotte and went to the game tonight - some of my thoughts: Knights 14 assists were generally under the radar passes to jump shooters, nothing really creative off the dribble...I do like him as a combo guard off the bench as he has a nice shot and can drive to create his own offense....the guy does not have pg instincts from what I have seen, but he is just 22. Mayo is just junk...oh how i wish we could flip him for something worthwhile....a turnover machine that has zero basketball instincts Speaking of instincts, that is what I find most fortifying about Giannis' game...the guy is the smartest player on the court at age 19....i want him as our future point guard...i know it's crazy, as he is already 6'10 and a half, maybe growing to 7 feet, but I swear this kid could be Magic Johnson I have my doubts on Henson ever being a starter on a championship quality team....too flipping weak even with his sick wingspan....Jefferson could have had 40 tonight if the Bobcats had a point guard (Kemba and Knight should go bowling together) Middleton and Knight could be excellent 6th and 7th men on a championship caliber team....Miroslav can be a good 10th or 11the guy and Wolters could be a decent backup pg Stick a fork in Ridnour and Butler....please find a trade partner for them Bucks(and Neal too)
  8. Where there's Smoak, there are GM's that get fired..........
  9. Thank you for the sanity SRB, others apparently don't pay attention
  10. Loney is known throughout baseball as a giant turd, and there is a reason beyond his miserable OPS that he is bouncing around baseball like a superball lately.....I hope mightily that Loney is not a member of the 2014 Brewers. My hope is actually we can swing a Magnifico for Montero trade with Jack Z and let him have first.
  11. I just hope we have more trades this offseason so we can get more posts from brewers4eric and gregmag..... If we can sign Hart and Khris Davis does a decent job in left I like a healthy lineup we can put out there, and our rotation has some potential
  12. Thanks Mass for providing the info above.....I am baffled that the majority see Smith as a reliever....he is a starter and will be given every opportunity to stay in the rotation
  13. Especially with lefties, there is a big difference between a " big arm" and a "live arm".....Jimmy Key was a left that has a similar profile to Will Smith - and Key had electric stuff that was under 93. Will Smith has a funky delivery with breaking balls that come from different slots....it is not a fluke that lefties just can't hit him.... The fact that lefties are clueless against him should not send him into the situation lefty purgatory some posters are putting him into......Smith had an up an down 23 year old rookie season and was filthy as a reliever the last two months of the year, as his k rate was nearly 14 per nine innings during that time span.... Whether he can be a lefty workhorse in the rotation is up to argument, but the fact is that he looks like a innings eating horse at 6'5 and 250. I think this was an excellent trade at first glance.....a little confused at how it could be ridiculed even though I really enjoyed Aoki.
  14. That is a fair point And That.....I just am not happy with the direction of our minor leagues, and the fact that we have not signed a single minor league free agent out of 92 indicates a lack of gameplan that seems to be the primary issue I have with the orgin-I-zation
  15. I think 80 was very specific already, saying that he wanted a player that was sooner than 4 years away from perhaps contributing....a non top 60 rookie leaguer with sub 6 foot height is as close to a bag of baseballs as you can get.....Badenhop was a non-tender candidate but this type of give away speaks to what I see as some serious problems with roster construction
  16. I was waiting for your response on this Pogo.....living in Charlotte, I enjoyed getting to Braves games but really never understood the lack of infrastructure in the area of the stadium....frankly, the area around Miller Park is about as interesting as the area around Turner (which says a lot), and is a bunch safer.....just no foresight
  17. Wow, lots of dumb in this thread in retrospect
  18. Thanks for the response Colby.
  19. March 2nd, 2013: Dylan Covey, RHP, Jr., San Diego: The Toreros picked up a very good win over UNC Wilmington on Saturday with Covey leading the charge. Covey struck out 12 batters, walked two and allowed just five hits in six shutout innings of work.
  20. Of course I am biased, but I am very confident in my commentary. He is a better player than Richie Schaeffer, recent top pick of the Rays that is also from this area......I think some scouts are too focused on his skills as a pitcher.... Local guy Ryder Ryan is regarded by perfect game as the 5th best current junior in the US, and Bostic is a much better bet to succeed in the pros than Ryan for a variety of reasons. http://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=289628 Perfect game is amazing, but they list him as a 1B/P.....he has never played 1st and he has plus speed, a natural, though tall, centerfielder
  21. Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I was coaching a team here in North Carolina that has a player that is likely to be drafted in 2013 named Alex Bostic. I saw him listed as the 94th best senior on a recent list, which would place him in the 6th/7th round, and he would just go to Clemson to fulfill his commitment there. This is a joke. I would be very happy as a Brewer fan if he went to us in the first round as he is a comparable talent, albeit at a different position, than Saeger, who went to the Dodgers last year in about our draft position. Bostic is a centerfielder and lefty pitcher that stands 6'4 and is 195ish that hit 90, sat 85-88, hits the 3rd baseman's mitt on the bag from 335 as a CF every time, and had a 1.7 OPS over our last 20 games as we won the North Carolina State Championship, hitting the scoreboard at the minor league stadium in the deciding game from 480 feet away. Bostic, who is a 4.6 student and a great kid, had some surgery that cleaned out his elbow as his velocity dipped in the mid winter to 84, and he came back to hit on Thursday for out first game after having little practice time. All he did was hit a laser double off the wall and bomb a 3 run home run to win the game 5-3 in the 7th.over the 9th ranked team in the state (we are ranked 1st- our 2-5 hitters are committed to Duke, Clemson, UNC-Charlotte, and Virginia). The guy is a beast, and I do not understand why we do not have out stands packed with scouts. He is a definite top 40 pick as a pitcher/centerfielder in my mind, and just wanted to get some juice out there for people on this board, as I hope he wears a Brewer hat in June (we are his favorite team by the way).
  22. Harris was a definite asset to give up and it was another Excellent Hammond draft pick that was not given much of an immediate opportunity.....Redick is a very good player that is going to be a big part of the future, and no amount of realgm kvetching or "bag-night" asshattery is going to change what was a good trade for both teams.
  23. Keith Law is an absolute idiot
  24. twirly and turbo with extremely humorous posts....very well done......I hope the Braves start using that song daily
  25. I disagree completely.....the pick would have been top 10 protected if the Pirates would have signed their pick last year, but because they didn't, the Mets have to pay the price? To me this is a no-brainer and the Mets should only have to give up a 2nd roundpick
