  1. I know 37 at bats is a miniscule sample size but Green's .622 OPS combined with looking overmatched in several of the at bats I saw make me wonder about Green being able to match the value of a switch hitter that is regarded as a plus or plus plus defender. Obviously the quote about being not motivated to move him after Headley's name coming out as being on the market is GM speak
  2. Yes, he had only 4 homers and 44 rbis last year, but Headley is a slick fielding third baseman that hit .330 away from Petco last year and is just 27. Rumor has it that he is on trading block due to his expected 3 million dollar arby figure. Would Thornburg be enough of a return or would we be expected to pony up Peralta?
  3. Desmond had a rough year on d his first year as a starter, but made huge strides last year, and was regarded in the last 4 months of the year as one of the tp defensive ss, by his manager, Davey Johnson, at least. I am not sure Marcum for these two would be wise for the Brewers, or that the Nats would give up Clippard, but I think it is a close call
  4. I was doing a little looking into KRod's holds in 2011 from July 20 on - 20 holds in half a season, and saw that the only guy approaching that rate was Tyler Clippard with 38 in a full season. That drew me to a trade thought of Marcum for Clippard and Ian Desmond. Any thoughts?
  5. Hart is having a very similar year to last year, 25th in the majors in OPS after being 26th last year. His unwieldy style and injury this year have tandemed with the amazing seasons of Braun and Prince to hide his production a bit. I think a hot streak from Hart in the post-season would give the Brewers a chance to win it all.
  6. i would be interested
  7. I cannot believe Don Money did that to Taylor Green when he was called up.....that is just sick. I think Don Money might be a bad human.
  8. this photo shows how "not fat" Prince is. One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing Prince called fat - he is thick and built like a mack truck.
  9. toxicology report came back clean......her cause of death is a mystery
  10. i would like to ask another question - namely, should Wolf start a game in the playoffs, or like many teams, should we go to a 3 man rotation if we get in to the playoffs. Wolf's stuff in the playoffs may not play as well, and he has gotten spanked by the dbacks this year.....his 7/4 walk/k ratio in the playoffs in the past concerns me. Wolf has been amazing this year but I like our other three in a playoff situation better.
  11. Reporter from seriussportsradio from that linked thread indicated it was Yadier Molina and Gerald Laird that fought....uncertain of the validity, but indication was that Laird called Molina a cheater.....PED's I am assuming......which would account for the rage Reporter is named Craig Mish. http://hardballtalk.nbcsp...laird-fought-last-night/
  12. http://brewersbeat.mlblog...urns-bright-for-clayton/ A tough summer turns bright for Clayton Casey McGehee’s lucky charm is 7-year-old Clayton Wollner of Sussex, Wis., whose shyness led to a bold request from his mom, which led to one of the best days of McGehee’s baseball life. McGehee told Clayton’s story after belting three home runs in the Brewers’ series-clinching, 10-5 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday at Miller Park. He’d met Clayton — McGehee didn’t know the boy’s last name — on the field before the game, and was trying to draw out some conversation. Clayton was shy, so his mom, Jennifer, and dad, Ben, tried to drive some conversation. Mom blurted out that McGehee should hit a homer for Clayton. “Honestly, I feel a little bad about it now,” Jennifer Wollner said Thursday morning. “I didn’t know he hadn’t really been hitting this season.” McGehee had not homered since July 6. He had one home run in his previous 65 games. Then something special happened. McGehee hit a go-ahead two-run home run off Cardinals starter Edwin Jackson in the first inning. McGehee hit another go-ahead two-run homer off Jackson in the third for his second career multihomer game, and then connected on a solo shot in the seventh for what McGehee believes is the first three-homer game of his life. He called it “one of those out of body experiences,” and before reporters broke away from McGehee’s locker on Wednesday afternoon, he urged them to stay for the story about Clayton. “I want to bring him to Houston with me, and then we’re going to go to St. Louis,” said McGehee, perhaps joking, perhaps not, about the team’s upcoming road trip. “I want to get him a locker — we have a little space right here. Hopefully, we’re going to track Clayton down.” Mission accomplished. It turns out that Clayton Wollner loves baseball, but was forced to sit on the bench this summer. He was born with a condition called craniosynostosis, which prevents his skull from growing properly. He’s had seven surgeries, the most recent on July 13 at Children’s Hospital. He will need more surgeries in his life. “It’s not a life-threatening condition, but it’s one you have to keep up on,” Jennifer Wollner said. “As he continues to grow, his skull won’t grow right, and that means his brain can’t grow right.” The Wollners were hoping that someone might simply be able to call Clayton with a message of support, to keep his chin up, and through some family ties with Fox Sports Wisconsin, their request reached the Brewers. An invitation to a ballgame followed, along with a surprise tour of Miller Park and an even more surprising opportunity to stand on the field while the Cardinals took batting practice. Suddenly, there was McGehee, a Brewer in the flesh. He wanted to meet Clayton because this is a cause dear to his own heart. Casey and Sarah McGehee’s first child, a bundle of energy named Mack, was born with cerebral palsy. McGehee spent 15 minutes talking with the Wollners, and then it was game time. Who knew it would be such a memorable game? The Wollners had not even made it home to Sussex before McGehee’s story about Clayton aired on the radio and the phone calls started coming. Everybody wanted to know: Is this your Clayton? “We never expected any of this,” Jennifer said. “And we’re not expecting anything further than this. We’ve read the articles and joked about [meeting McGehee again], but we’ve kept the expectations very low. We appreciated our time with him, and were just blown away by our whole day. “When he hit the first home run we were like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so fun!’ When it got to three, we were kind of speechless.” *
  13. I am watching the Cardinals broadcast since I live in Charlotte, and they just did a recap of last nights game. T he Cards announcers keep going on about how Rob Drake was pushing Molina (huh?) and they were focusing on The Doorman, zeroing in on him yelling at Cards players on several occasions
  14. I am more focused on the crowd than the players for this game. I want deafening boos every time my most hated person in sports, Tony LaRussa pops his weasel-head out of the dugout. I want full blown up placards of his DUI mug shot. I want Brewer fans to bring the pain. 45 minutes till chaos hopefully.
  15. Hairston started the season in a 1 for 23 funk too, so he has had an uphill climb fr the stats he does have
  16. i like Komatsu but this seems to be an even match trade wise
  17. Pence overrated is silly...he is a much better player than Werth
  18. http://www.fangraphs.com/...bability-is-not-helpful/ From his blog today....one of the most respected baseball minds writing today.......very sad and certainly wish him well
  19. From an ESPN story just posted.......An Internet search of the Meals' home phone number showed at least two message boards posted their home address and telephone number last night. Wow
  20. Meals, the home plate ump simply decided he wanted to go home......disgusting call and that is from someone rooting for Braves......
  21. Maybe it is because I am watching the Braves as they come to bat in the 19th inning vs the Pirates, but I have no idea what endder was trying to say in the last post. Was it baseball nihilism? It doesn't matter what anyone does?
  22. Is there even really a question of this by now? His body language even screams out that his confidence is shot and he has no idea why he is being trotted out there. I see his value around the team and think he would be a quality bench coach of some capacity (asst. to Narron or whatnot). Something has to occur, whether it is this or a phantom oblique injury. Green would be my first choice, but Gindl has been on fire since June 1 with close to a 1.0 OPS and needs to be looked at.
  23. She had a rare blues rock voice......her fans compare her favorably to Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt I will lose the snarkiness, but I am truly shocked that people were not familiar with her
  24. wait, seriously? 2 people in this thread have never heard Rehab? Wow, you guys belong in that Geico commercial involving rocks that you have never heard of either......
  25. http://blogs.hoopshype.co...-jennings/#ixzz1Sh46XKXk Really interesting interview with Bogut
