  1. Two words: Matt Harvey!! < ducks and covers>
  2. If I'm the GM of the Jays, I'm going to ask for another piece. Maybe, Ashby or that Rasmussen kid. All the while, I'm thrilled to do it straight up, but since your offer appears to be one of desperation, I want a little more!!
  3. I like the targeting of Diaz, but you are backing the truck up for him! That's a lot!
  4. This team and DS are in a difficult position, not good enough to go out and acquire player X to put them over the top. Not bad enough, like the Royals, to start selling now. Looking at the schedule, with the Braves, D-Backs and Reds I expect them to go 5-5 entering in the Cubs series. If they can sweep or split the Cubs series, I would buy light and hope the team can go on a streak like last year. If they get swept or can only pull out one, like I anticipate, I'm selling. If the worst case scenario plays out. Yelich, Hiura, Woodruff, Peralta, Houser and Hader are off the table. Everyone else can be discussed and if I'm DS, I would try to create a feeding frenzy beginning 6 pm July 28. Now I'm depressed! Last year ruined me!
  5. I would take a proactive "wait and see" approach. The next two weeks is the make or break for this year. If they hold at .500 or better, go out be buyers. On the other hand, if they finish the next 14 days like I fear they might, then sell. Not a rebuild, more of a retooling.
  6. You bring up a point that I've been considering for weeks now, "suspicious of his influence on a pitching staff". As much as the loss of Derek Johnson has been discussed as the cause of the underwhelming performance of the majority of the pitching staff, I have wondered if Grandal could be part of the problem with the staff?
  7. Agreed, sometimes it's OK to throw things at a wall and see what sticks! Good luck to both Miller and Smyly, you just never know when it clicks. Welcome to the Brewers!!
  8. See the Rangers also cut Shelby Miller loose, I wouldn't mind the same kind of deal for him. I have inside information!! Or am I DS, who lurks here getting ideas!! Or was it just a lucky guess?
  9. See the Rangers also cut Shelby Miller loose, I wouldn't mind the same kind of deal for him.
  10. Someone needs to start a GoFundMe for that sole intent. The player that carries out the scenario gets the bank!
  11. Shutout the Cards, backed by some great defense with Garret Cooper who had a monster night and Jordan even got a RBI. What a great debut!
  12. Thank you Brian! Don't interact a lot here, but this July it will be 16 years checking in on a daily basis. There is no replacement for this site! Thank you again!!!!
  13. It would have given us the 2 best pen arms in the world on the same team, so yeah I think it would of put us over the top for the next 3 years. While I admire your optimism, and yes a Kimbrel/Hader bullpen would have been formidable, if based on previous performance of both of them. However, the pragmatist in me says this team has too many holes. Braun is at the end of his career, Cain appears to slowing down, and Shaw and Aquilar have dropped off the proverbial cliff. Davies and Woodruff have performed well, but the rest of the starters are Jekyll and Hyde. Just too many maybe's and what if's for me to think that signing Kimbrel was the final piece for a World Series title.
  14. Would signing Kimbrel have put the Brewers over the top? I just don't think so. I also don't believe he will be the linchpin for a title for the Cubs either.
  15. Glad it's over! Not a fan of giving relievers big contracts and it's just a hunch, I believe the Red Sox let him walk away for reasons other than money.
  16. An uh-oh single, a walk where Burnes was no where near the strike zone, the Melky double and an opposite field single. I like Burnes, but it was a 5 run lead, if he can't be trusted with that, he needs to work it out in SA!
  17. I'm giving Gatewood a mulligan for this year, he was having a nice 2018 until the knee blowout. I hope the Brewers FO see it the same way.
  18. I don't think we definitely know that to be true. I do believe we were definitely in on Machado last summer. Is Hiura going in a rental, no way, but beyond that, I don't think Stearns has shown any aversion to rentals. Also I think an overlooked value in rentals is a chance to sell a player on extending their stay in Milwaukee if all other options are equal. We've seen that with Moose and Gio. I doubt either are Brewers now if we hadn't rented them. Your last point is very profound and appears to be true. My question is does Milwaukee have a bad rep among players until they actually play there? And Why?
  19. Don't think much of it, I have followed Erceg's line pretty closely the past couple of years, he comes across as kind of a streaky hitter. Disappear for weeks then be dominant for a couple. I was kinda of hoping his consistancy would improve, but it's early in the season, plenty of time.
  20. Agreed on the first part, Hiura certainly exceeded my expectations for his first start. I was actually hoping that CC would kind of ease him into to playing. No Sir! You're up, you start! He didn't disappoint! On your second comment, while the term impact can be debated, I really liked Nori Aoki when he was here and thought he made a impact, albeit a short one.
  21. Long wait tomorrow. Lots of good players left, a few I like. G Hjalte Froholdt Arkansas, two words Jason Spriggs. CB Jordan Brown CB South Dakota State, Good size, good not great speed. ILB Ben Burr-Kirven Washington, undersized overachieving tackling machine. My favorite, WR Hunter Renfrow Clemson, just seemed that everytime a clutch reception was needed, he was the go-to receiver while at Clemson. There's our slot receiver!
  22. Love the Jenkins and Sternberger picks! Hate the way ESPN just casually passes them by without any film or in depth discussion and declares they'll go back to them and never do!
