  1. I can't ever pick a win for the Crew in a game Wes Obermueller starts, especially when they are facing noted Brewer-killer Woody Williams. I'm expecting one of those close losses that makes you sick.
  2. With Zumwalt pitching as well as he has, they may have gotten two MLB relievers for Kolb.
  3. 8. Management claimed not to know about cocaine addiction of outfielder Tim Raines. Believed nickname of Rock referred to his preference in music. LINK Admitted to being a cocaine user and used to get high during games. Raines told reporters that he would keep a vial of coke in his pocket and would slide head-first while stealing to make sure the vial wouldn't break. Perhaps that's where the "Rock" nickname came from... EDIT: I will add that I voted yes. He has much more of a case than does Dawson, in my opinion. He was putting up .400 OBP when putting up a .400 OBP wasn't cool. He also played on one of my favorite A's teams (1999) along with Stairs, Jaha, Phillips, etc.
  4. This isn't meant to bash on him, or his case for the Hall, as I really don't care much about this stuff, but didn't he get the nickname "Rock" because of his liking of "rock cocaine"?
  5. If they screw up, it's fine to rip on them. They haven't screwed up in quite some time, and I'm pretty sure Fielder hasn't even had something I would deem as a "screw-up" since he came up. I understand your frustrations, though, as much as I think they are a little misguided, in terms of maybe a bias toward Prince and Rickie.
  6. I really don't see any reason to criticize either of them right now, especially in the context of a game thread for a game in which Fielder hasn't played and Weeks hasn't done anything horribly bad.
  7. Francouer can't take a walk to save his life. Weeks has excellent discipline and patience and works counts, and also has quite a bit of power. In regards to his errors, some of them are due to his range, which is outstanding. He's also going to K a lot, it's what power hitters do.
  8. At this point, I don't know if Weeks would win ROTY on his own team. Who else would win it? Weeks has been excellent.
  9. From what? They've played two games since he got hurt. My goodness, jump to the farthest possible conclusion. They're getting beat by a team that's better than they are - it must be because Sheets got hurt!
  10. "That's one helluva heckuva season". What a great line by the guy who won't even say "Best Damn Sports Show". back to 3 under can you see the effect that Sheets Injury has had already No, I can't actually. Can you show me it? I mean, obviously if Sheets were healthy they'd beat Smoltz and Hudson. Wow.
  11. Daron says "all he wants to do is hit a HR" about Andruw like that's a bad thing. And who cares how low his AVG w/ RISP is?
  12. If you are going to bunt, do it with zero outs, move both the runners into scoring position. I agree, why risk hitting into a DP? Capuano can hit a groundball and get the run home, I think, or if he doesn't there's still two guys on and the leadoff hitter up.
  13. Bill Hall, you are the worst baserunner of all-time.
  14. If he were a legit HOF'er, it wouldn't be so close. He just isn't good enough. I don't really think Power/Speed is that useful, either. Do you honestly think he's as good as some of the guys he's ahead of in that category? For me, it's a simple "no". If he were really a great, feared hitter, then why didn't he ever walk (the most he walked in a season was 44 times)? If he gets in, it sets the bar even lower for the Hall, and it's too low already.
  15. Russ is back! Woo-hoo! And is Hart playing CF or RF?
  16. Isn't power/speed just HR+SB/2? EDIT: Found it in the Stats forum.
  17. Do you think if he wasn't a Brewer that you would feel the same way? I'm just wondering. I voted no on him because I think he was a compiler who never dominated, and I feel the same way about Fisk. I do think, I guess, that if Fisk is in I guess that maybe Simmons should be. I just don't feel as strongly about him, though.
  18. I was no on Rice, but I think he's closer than Dawson. Maybe it's just me, but a .323 OBP isn't Hall-worthy for a OF. BP pegs his D as slightly below average for his career, and well above replacement level.
  19. Drag bunt down the third base line should be executed to begin the game. Find out what Cabrera has got. I'd prefer that Weeks swing the bat. He can hit the ball for extra bases, unlike Pierre.
  20. I'd assume Cabrera is at 3B and Encarnacion is in LF.
  21. I usually go here: www.tickertech.com/cgi/?a...e+Baseball However, I am unable to post the lineups because I can't do long posts for some unknown EzBoard-related reason.
  22. Jeff Conine hits like a middle IF. Delgado hits like a HOFer. He has a .954 OPS and 25 HR. That's hitting the cover off the ball in my book. Why would you pitch to Delgado when you could walk him and set up the DP? Seriously, there is no reason to. They walked Cabrera in the 1st, and pitched to Delgado in the 3rd. It makes no sense. EDIT: Delgado's last 10+ games - 12/35, 4 HR, 7 BB. What did you mean by recent?
  23. That's not the primary reason. Ohka is, and Yost is too for not ordering Delgado be walked intentionally.
