  1. I just don't see these teams getting into a brawl...its really not in either of their nature. Yeah, Braun is a little cocky, it's not like big Z is some wallflower. The Cubs aren't going to mess around when they are in the thick of it like this and either are the Brewers. I think there's a fair amount of mutual respect between the players as well. The fans on the other hand...
  2. There are always a lot of Cubs fans at opposing teams stadiums. There are a lot of people in Chicago and many of them have moved elsewhere, including here in LA. In LA, we are a city of transplants...so there's always plenty of the other teams fans at Dodger Stadium...including plenty of Brewers fans. Aside from a little good natured ribbing, it's usually ok. I think the difference at the Cubs/Brewers games is the number of young males that make the trek up to the keg. I've always found games at Wrigley, especially the bleachers, to be a big drunken frat party. Its not the run of the mill Cubs season ticket holders that are coming up to Miller Park, its the bleachers crowd. Combine that with a big series for both teams where emotions are running high and the normal binge drinking tailgate atmosphere at Brewers games in general...and low and behold...its mayhem. Hopefully cooler heads and some better judgment can make for a better atmosphere tonight. Good luck to those of you going.
  3. Dude...I've got tears I'm laughing so hard at the thought of that.
  4. The night that CC belted 2 HRs and no-hit the Cubs in front of a sold-out MP crowd. Either that or Sheets' double.
  5. I would be horrible, although the fans would like me because I would be really nice to TH during my post-game pressers.
  6. If there is one thing I love about Fielder its his competitive fire, and I also think he's a genuinely good teammate. No one seemed more fired up last week when Hall & Braunie hit those dongs than Prince. I think he does want to be "the guy", but its a very healthy competitive motivation between himself and Braun. I would say this about the whole team especially since the CC trade. These guys are young, fired up and unselfishly playing for the front of that jersey...it's a great thing to see. As Ennder pointed out, he's been very productive since his cool start. I think he's been a little quieter this year due to Braun's MVP-like performance that is like Prince's last year. I think he'll wind up with a solid year and will have a 2-3 week point in the season where he lights it up...hopefully agaisnt the Cubs.
  7. Bush and McClung have been terrific and far exceeded expectations more recently. I'd rather see Yost pick one and end this silly platoon. It seems to limit his bullpen options because there are times neither can go. Take Soup as your #4 and maybe Bush as a #5 and go. McClung might be better for the pen since he doesn't seem to go quite as deep into games as Bush. Hope they win 50% of those games and take 2/3 when the top 3 starters are out there.
  8. My preference is still Suppan...that is if he is truly healthy. His last starts before the DL were terrible because he was hurt. He was pitching slightly better than his career averages before that. With the exception of Blum (granted, he should have been out of there for that second HR), he wasn't getting hit that hard yesterday. If Hart or Weeks make those plays or if they could field that bunt, it may not pile on like that. I'm not saying he's CC or Sheets, but he is an adaquate 4/5 starter. He also pitches much better later in the year, and he's been in the thick of it there before.
  9. Against a lefty? No way...Billy Hall mashes lefties. How about some 3TO power off the bench?
  10. Of all the games in the series...this one sets up the best for the Brewers...which is why I'm so darn nervous!!! We've had a habit of turning a few "meat" pitchers into Cy Young. I'm pulling for 8 solid innings from CC and 2 runs. I'm also hoping we get back to feasting on lefties and soften up that Cubbie bullpen for the last three. If you are going tonight...scream a little extra for me!!!
  11. 0-2 (Saturday in Boston), at least I was there at the bottom!!! I'm going to need a good Dodgers series to get it back.
  12. Uggla...I can't believe you were an all-star
  13. 3TO has been a huge addition to this team and had some big moments in kick starting the team, but with Bill Hall starting to rake and the muscle not getting the ABs...I wonder if a 2-3 week trip to Nashville would help. We are going to need the muscle before the year is out, but he has really cooled off without the regular ABs.
  14. 2 best teams in the NL going at it. I agree on the pitching matchups... Lilly v. CC - big edge Brewers Z vs. Sheets - Classic Dempster vs. Parra - Classic undercard Harden vs. Bush - big edge Cubs Let's not forget about the 'stros. They've got some guys like Lee & Berkman that can do some damage...its not like we've won these last 8 by 10 runs each. No CC or Sheets this weekend either. Focus people, focus. It would be huge to have CC going for the Webb's streak on Monday...the town might explode!!!
  15. Here Here!!! LaRussa's schtick last year was disgusting...they are hardly the ones to lecture us. At least some in the local St. Louis press had the balls to call him on it. In general I'm not a huge fan of the watch and stare that Braun & Hall did, but they are young guys that care and delivered HUGE homeruns. We've done it, the Cubs have done it and so have the Cards. We're no better or worse than any of them. As a fan...it's pretty awesome when your own guy does it...not so much when it's done against you. What I get tired of is this holier than thou baseball royalty schtick that the Cards fans tend to portray. My prior memory was Joaquin Andujar...now there's a class act. What about Pujols? You think he's never admired a blast? And then there is LaRussa and his evil twin "Don Tony"...I can't believe he didn't put one in someones ear last night like he has so many times before. How about Ozzie Smith showing off when he did flips at shortstop...hardly anyone would accuse Oz of not being a great baseball ambassador.
  16. Could not agree more...anyone who has Extra Innings knows how much better Brian & Bill are than most of the league. Just because you hear a lot of the same things over a 162 game schedule, some get tired of the idiosyncracies of their given announcer, but I'm telling you...these guys are good, very good and we are lucky to have them.

  22. Same thing as Thursday night Brew Crew...Manny keeps it close, we get Wandy's pitch count up and get into that bullpen. The crowd will be deafening tomorrow night. I have chills just thinking about it.
  23. Will somebody please post this on YouTube...I have got to see this.
  24. Is it bad that I'm untucking my shirt before I leave the office? It looks better with a baseball uniform than it does in a suit.
