  1. I have seen Davis anywhere from #4 to #16 on lists. I for one think this guy has about as much upside as anyone in the system. This could be our #2 prospect behind Lawrie this time next season.
  2. I'd have to say this sums it up pretty well. They simply don't have the room or budget to add another major-league arm.
  3. We all have to hope that Corey Hart can return to his should-be normal form and that Rickie can stay healthy. I don't think that defensively we have lost a step as I think Gomez can fill in nicely for Cam and believe that Escobar is an upgrade over Hardy. Zaun for Kendall should be a wash. Kendall was overrated as a defender. Offensively, I think we'll be better actually. Just not the same team that relied on the HR too much last season. We have a different look aside from Fielder and Braun now.
  4. Not sure Desme could be considered on the verge of "stardom". He wasn't that strong of a prospect. Really, a lot of this should be attributed to AFL hype.
  5. Probably similar to how Yovani Gallardo feels each and every year with Jeff Suppan raking in millions. It doesn't bother these guys because this is the system we have in place.I swear I was going to type the exact same thing and then I saw your reply. This happens all the time in baseball.
  6. I'm actually gonna say that Winter Ball pitching is lower in equivelance than AA. I would say A+.
  7. Notes look good but I think the days of Sheets hitting the mid-to-upper 90's are over. The salary demands need to come down but I think some teams may be getting desparate enough to take the flyer. I will laugh my ass off if the Cubs sign him for that and he tanks. I mean seriously, my rear end may fall off.
  8. There is absolutely NO WAY that the Giants would give up a could-be true ace for a 3B'man who can't field. Bumgarner would take three or four prospects to attain.
  9. Done.....sign me up. (Wish it were that easy)
  10. The only way I want to deal Hart (and someone) for pitching is if we get a Javier-Vazquez-level pitcher in return.
  11. I'd have to go with The Duke as well at this point. I do think Harden is a nice option though and think he has the most upside out of these candidates.
  12. BA never seems to give props to smaller players and Kentrail Davis that high is a surprise to me. Salome is certainly a glaring omission. Salome has proven, when healthy, to be a productive hitter and I think the progress of Lucroy has caused too many people to write Angel off. Caleb Gindl is another shortie who keeps getting snubbed time after time. He appeared two years ago. How can you punish a prospect who is age-appropriate for his level and keeps producing. Gindl had a great year in the worst hitters league in the minors. I really think Wily Peralta should have appeared around 9-10 or so as well. He's certainly more proven than Odorizzi and has offerings. I guess the bright spot here would be that they must really think a lot of Odorizzi's repertoire to justify that.
  13. I agree. I hope they give Salome, Lucroy, and Rivera equal-shot at being the starter and the backup. I honestly still think Salome will be the better option when all is said and done.
  14. I want nothing to do with Lowe's contract.
  15. There is NO WAY they would part with Anderson or Cahill. Those two are some of the brightest young pitchers in the game and Anderson was SPECTACULAR at times this season.
  16. The Cubs are reportedly parting ways with Rich Harden (and Reed Johnson). http://www.chicagotribune...0,765793.story?track=rss Not that this is really surprising (or news) for that matter, I have a feeling that with the increased financial flexibility resulting from the Hardy/Gomez deal, that rumor activity involving the Brewers will probably start to heat up. Thoughts? Personally, I would like to see the Brewers take a chance on a arm with upside like Harden.
  17. You're dreaming. I would think the Brewers make a run at Harden, Bedard, or Sheets. Besides Tim Lincecum, Felix may be the most untouchable pitcher in the Major Leagues.
  18. I have been a HUGE Salome supporter, but he just doesn't have the build or physical tools to stick in the outfield (for that matter, I'm not confident Gindl could stick out there either). This is why you rarely see a shorty outfielder unless they have good speed; which Salome (and Gindl) don't.' I really hope Salome's lack of performance last year was injury-related. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I don't see how anyone can realistically think that Braddock will even see the Brewers until at least September next season. The guy has less than 20IP above high-A and less than 50IP the last two seasons. And....a history of injury.
  20. Of the aforementioned, I like Morrow the best. I also think Wigginton to McGehee is a pretty fair comparison. Gamel is the perfect trade candidate for the Crew. Remember, Gamel before he really broke out in Hawaii wasn't that highly touted. I think at this point you sell Gamel for a pitcher like this, and feel comfort in taking a marginal prospect and getting some return on him.
  21. I agree with Verducci and think this rationale is a great testament to the kind of season Rick Porcello really had this season (at 20 years old). It's really sort of a mini-miracle that Yovani threw as much as he did being so young and coming off a full season off.
  22. I love Ryan Braun as much as the next Brewer fan, but if offered Heyward and Hanson in a package I wouldn't hesitate for a second to pull the trigger. You're getting a potential ace and the best hitter in the minor leagues. I don't even see how the Braves would offer that.
  23. Does the fact that the Braves have Hudson virtually extended make it more probable that we could land either Vasquez or Lowe?
  24. I used to find that once the Brewers were out of the playoffs I because disinterested. But anyone who doesn't appreciate the playoffs should refer to the Angels/Yankees series this year. If you don't appreciate the playoffs with all those extra-inning games and tense moments, something is definitely wrong with you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. This is the best play I have ever seen a SS make. I am not joking either. One analyst responded with something like "I don't know how his arm didn't pop out of his socket on the throw." J.J. could never make this type of play. Alcides is going to be special in the field.
