  1. Just another reason why the weather sucks here.....I guess we have Rottino's generosity to look for one day. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Ok...this is the second time this thread that I have heard this. Enough. Alcides is a projected Gold Glove shortstop and Hardy would be the one to move. Yes, Alcides is that special defensively. Sorry....I'm done. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Because Bucholz is a projected number one or two starter, something that is gold in professional baseball. I also agree that Hardy and Cameron may not be enough to get one of the two let alone both. Ellsbury had arguably as good a season as Hardy in 08' and has settled into an everyday role. We also, most likely, have not seen either Ellsbury or Buchholz's ceiling yet. As much as I like J.J., we probably have seen the best of what he can do......
  4. I don't understand it either as I would definately hand that spot to Chris Davis. But Cruz did have a MONSTER (caps intended) season at AAA last season, but he obviously doesn't have the ceiling that Chris Davis does....
  5. I hope he does well, but I am super-glad we'll never see him in a Brewers uni again...
  6. Absolutely! As a former first baseman, I think some of the people in this thread are OVERESTIMATING how much of an impact picking short hops has on a game, as well as how many grounders first basemen actually receive. Maybe a win or two, but NO WHERE NEAR 5-10 wins....
  7. +1!! If Ramirez were ten years younger than maybe Melvin would push through a Boras negotiation, but not for an aging player like Ramirez...
  8. I believe Bedard is a free agent after next season as well so it a rental all over again...
  9. Sooooo true. People also need to remember that Gallardo and Parra are still young and need to build up to a full season's worth of innings. (200+)
  10. Unless your projecting some huge injury, there has never been any speculation that Mauer would move from catcher. He is arguably in the top three defensively in the league and handles pitching just fine...
  11. I say Mauer is the most likely candidate in the Major Leagues to stay with a team his whole career. He has Minnesota roots...
  12. I agree with those who would not sign him. I would rather have a flyer year on Sheets. Lowe isn't the worst we could do though, but I think it'll be a circus having the leagues second-best groundball pitcher in front of Weeks, Fielder, and Hall.
  13. Not sure which league you are watching, but a 2:1 K/BB ratio is NOT good at all.
  14. Please say this isn't so.....Looper is like the second coming of Suppan. I would rather take my chances with someone younger with upside. Looper last season had 33 starts but only 199IP? This screams 4-inning starts with a 2:1 K/BB ratio. Looper gave up 25 home runs in those 199IP too and WAY over a hit an inning. Unless the deal was a one-year incentive-laden contract I would pass. I truly hope Melvin feels the same way.
  15. I was a non-believer in Hanson as well, but he's proven everyone wrong at every level. Until he shows some disappontment, he stays on that list. Bowden: Under a K/Inn, .212 OBA (minors), 2.62 ERA (minors) Hanson: Over a K/Inn, .197 OBA (minors), 2.41 ERA (minors)
  16. Let me also add that if Prince was dealt this early I would require a potential frontline starter as the centerpiece of the deal. There is a list of potential ace's in the minors that I would accept and Bowden certainly is not on the list. Try Neftali Feliz, Trevor Cahill, Brett Anderson, Tommy Hanson or Chris Tillman.
  17. Agreed! The only Sox I would consider moving Prince for would be Buchholz, Ellsbury (not alone either), or Lars Anderson.
  18. Yeah. I'll take that. It's actually a better fit for Sheets too but the Rangers may not want to ante up on pitching with Holland waiting to be called up. Derek Holland dominated AA for the Rangers last year and has little left to prove. Maybe a year at AAA.
  19. Rosenthal reports "Brewers Not Willing To Sell Off Young Talent" http://msn.foxsports.com/...P=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49 What gives?
  20. MLB.com reports Brewers jump into closer race at Winter Meetings http://hotstove.mlblogs.c...mp_into_closer_chase.html
  21. Rosenthal now says there was no truth for any Yankees/C.C. Meltdown... http://msn.foxsports.com/...P=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49 (I don't think this hit here yet. Sorry if it has already)
  22. I can't justify the money he'd require for the strikeouts. Aren't we sick of all-or-nothing hitters? I realize he walks a lot, but I would rather see us go after Ibanez than Dunn frankly. I do think Braun Fielder Dunn in the middle is intriguing though...
  23. The thing that worries me is that of his 179 hits only 37 went for extra bases. I don't project Escobar to hit more than ten home runs in his best year. That's a TON of singles though. I wonder how he's going to fare against better fielding. Congrats to Alcides though as I thought he'd be down in the teens at least. BA should have him at number two (behind Gamel). I follow BA a lot and although they like Alcides, I think they gave props to Gamel last season on a more consistent bases (see: hotlists). Either way, I'm happy with out situation. We're not the Oakland A's, but we're definately not the Houston Astros as far as our systems go.
  24. Good riddance! Take that contract with you.
  25. The same as reported by Ken Rosenthal http://msn.foxsports.com/...P=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49
