  1. Fellas, we are about to sweep the Nationals and our top 3 starting pitchers are rivaling the best in baseball. there will be time to fight this year. today is a day to enjoy. go crew.
  2. I'm not watching, but I'm assuming the throw was from Adames? They were actually talking about him specifically throwing on the radio broadcast yesterday and how he had a few issues earlier in his career airmailing 1st... so in Tampa with the artificial turf, they worked on lowering his target point so instead of missing high he would miss low where the bounce to 1st was a nice sunday hop always. Lane specifically mentioned it because Hiura scooped something he threw yesterday, which started the topic. He said the adjustment might need to be made back considering he doesn't have the turf anymore. I'm not sure if it was suppose to be a positive spin on the situation or not, but just a tidbit I thought I'd add.
  3. Agreed. The addition of any high school aged soon to be DSL minor leaguer is completely worthless. (Could actually argue that they provide negative value in that it costs money to field DSL teams and they have produced almost no big leaguers for the Brewers over the last decade or so) I would love to hear how you would structure our minor league system and deploy scouts/gather talent if you were in charge of player development for Milwaukee?
  4. I agree, we should stop acquiring players unless they are all stars and it is a really favorable deal for us.
  5. I'm very curious how everyone here thinks the Brewers' draft process goes? I do get that Stearns is the GM and the buck stops with him, etc but if we are not happy with the Brewers' drafting, shouldn't we be upset with our scouting team and Stearns staff?
  6. I just watched Bryce Harper take a fastball to the face and walk off the field. We just watched Robertson take a fastball to the temple and stay in the game. I would be willing to bet the majority of these guys would play 130+ if they could... Stearns/Counsell/medical staff are the ones holding guys out of lineups. You don't think Yelich would be playing today if it were his choice?
  7. Because of his offensive prowess last year? Given our first baseman's performance this year... Braun's .760 OPS from last year would be amazing right now.
  8. This has been said 1000 times over in various threads ... but boy would Ryan Braun at 1st base would be a really nice fit right now. If we are using Hiura and Vogs ... defense isn't going to be a plus as it is. I hope he is staying in shape and ready for a June 'call up'.
  9. I get it... but the guy also just flew back to get to the team and caught a really long game all in a 24 hour period. Probably mentally good for him to take it easy for 24 hours?
  10. Game 28, whoever predicted a lineup that included Taylor, Reyes, Nottingham (after a trade back with Seattle) and Bettinger ... kudos to you.
  11. I'm not saying Counsell has manager of the year wrapped up already ... but best record in the NL and 2nd best in MLB and we have 2 full rosters of guys on the IL. The 3 guys that scored the 3 runs to win last night were Mckinney, Maile, and Feliciano. We are playing a AAA roster and have a chance to sweep the World Series Champs today. Wild.
  12. Who are those players though? Avisail Garcia? Definitely not Jackie Bradley Jr? A good part is expected to be defense, but you don't spend $13mil for good, but not elite CF defense. Billy Hamilton can't even get a MLB deal in the winter. Luis Urias? His defense is fine, but that isn't a defensive first player. Keston Hiura? Definitely not 3B? No Yelich? No Cain? At this point in his career, probably yes Omar Narvaez? No Wong? Probably a good chunk of why we got him Defense or not we signed a guy like Bradley Jr. to probably have an OPS around .725. Garcia they were probably hoping for closer to .750. Obviously both of those guys are well below those figures. Defense should be taken out of the equation when we look at their offense. Are these guys hitting like we expected them to or not? For many of them...no, not even close. Obviously that bar is set much lower for a defensive guy like Bradley Jr., but even he is underperforming by a lot so far. Just because you are good on defense doesn't mean you can just hit for a .450 OPS and not be a problem offensively. I think a little perspective might be necessary for this convo. With both the guys mentioned above and the OPS we are hopeful they will achieve, is the difference of 6 hits, given the number of at bats each has gotten. If Garcia and JBJ both had 6 more hits they would roughly be around those numbers. Annoyance is fine right now, criticism is maybe a bit early. Just my opinion.
  13. This very well may eventually happen, but I don't see them making a move like this a month into the season. Unless it truly comes down to a roster crunch. Sucks for a guy like Taylor, who may very well go down even though it's completely undeserved, just because he has that option. How sad would that be? Take a guy who is producing on a high level, drop him down to AAA strictly because of $ or some other BS. Brewers job is to win. If Taylor makes that job easier, you keep him up, regardless. If we have to watch Garcia and JBJ struggle for the next month just because Taylor has options, I will have lost all confidence in the Brewers as an organization. Unrelated, has Taylor ever played 1B, on any level? Short term, your points are valid. We need to win as many games as possible and you want your best or hottest players playing. Long term though your thought process might be dangerous. Let's say the Brewers decide to keep Taylor over Garcia moving forward and send Garcia down and he refuses and is released. Then Taylor cools off or gets hurt and Yeli/Cain go the whole year on and off the injured list. We are now getting to crunch time in the season and we have no options. Winning now is important. Winning in September and beyond is more important. It would be tragic if we lost the entirety of our depth of our outfield this early in the season because we wanted to give Taylor 30 more at bats over Garcia in April. Just my opinion.
  14. Always something to complain about. The Brewers obviously (maybe it isn't obvious) built this team around pitching and defense and are currently on pace (small sample size!) to win just under 100 games. Yet here we are complaining because someone didn't hit something somewhere. I'm assuming the Crew could win the World Series and there would be a small handful of you that immediately would say "well we had better fix our outfield if we have any chance of repeating.." You are all entitled to your opinions though! Go Crew.
  15. Reyes called up and starting. Manny Pina hitting cleanup. Our lineup looks WILDLY different from opening day ha.
  16. I got into an argument with a friend over who is a better hitter, Garcia or Shaw. He argued for Shaw. I told him we haven't faced a lefty starter in over 3 weeks so Shaw's numbers are inflated and Garcia's have not been 'aided'. Are we going to face a lefty ever again? Funny enough, Shaw and Garcia are both 14-58 on the season.
  17. Did anyone have a starting lineup of... Bradley Jr Vogelbach Garcia Shaw Hiura McKinney Pina Robertson .. predicted for game 15 of the year a month ago? I know these weird things happen every year but it is always funny. You start the year expecting one thing and then two weeks later it is all a scramble.
  18. I get it and I know snark isn't necessary ... but I just am not sure what there is to discuss? If Yelich is injury prone moving forward and doesn't perform to his contract's standards, could it hinder us -> yep. Is it something to watch moving forward -> yep. I guess there is not much more to add to the discussion unless you want to talk about contract strategies by a small market team, which is a different topic, imo.
  19. Do Dodgers fans have a thread concerning Bellinger? Last year was bad, this year hurt.
  20. "Since making his debut in May 2018, Freddy Peralta’s 12.26[k/9] strikeout rate is the fourth-best in baseball, trailing only Chris Sale, Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer." Source: https://madison.com/wsj/sports/baseball/professional/freddy-peralta-no-longer-just-a-fastball-pitcher-for-the-brewers/article_95d31cdc-c948-578a-8b40-e0ba116e726b.html
  21. This conversation happens every year with random signings and trades. There are 11,000 reasons why it could be beneficial to sign or trade for minor league depth that has nothing to do with the MLB roster. Could Dee end up getting some MLB at bats this year? Yep! Sure! But this signing, to me, has much more to do with protecting the progression of the Brewers #1 prospect than it does anything to do with the MLB roster. Wong is hurt, Arcia traded, had to bring in Peterson, etc. Now depth at AAA is already gone ... Turang needs his time in AA. Unless he forces the move to AAA with his play there is no reason to rush him and you don't want the temptation to do so if injuries beg the question. Signing Gordon-Strange gives the Brewers someone to plug in at AAA to leave Turang the level below and then if disaster hits with the big league club - DGS can fill in for a minute and leave the rest of the minors 'normal'. Let's let our best prospect have as normal and planned a progression as possible and PLEASE let's stop losing our minds when Stearns signs a guy to add some AAA cushion because he isn't Ryan Sandberg.
  22. This is what we did but I have 2 siblings that also want Brewers games and outside of your household (main hub) you can stream from the app to 2 or 3 other devices so I have siblings who are paying me so they can use the stream... so the cost is helped. Not sure if you have friends or family you could get a few dollars from and offer your account to them... but it is what we did.
