  1. 5-1 on the current West Coast swing... the fellas are doing good things. Curious what Counsell does with the lineup against the first lefty with our new look.
  2. I think I heavily agree with this. I have a hunch Stearns and the Reds have a contingency deal agreed to ... "if we don't get anyone else by the deadline ... we'll send you A & B for Harvey". Also, to the next poster who said something about Sonny Gray ... I think I'm on board if that can happen. Reunite him with Derek Johnson and let him lead the charge. Gray and Harvey? Why would we give up anything for these guys? By acquiring either of them you are just praying for good luck the rest of the year. Nothing about their season is worth acquiring. I don't love the Harvey get .. I was just agreeing he is the fall back if we can't get anywhere else. Re: Gray ... Derek Johnson.

  4. I'll answer this in 6 hours... ... but for now, on the road Chase. At home Chacin.
  5. Shaw/Braun are 3-4 while reaching base 5 times thus far. If those two start to come around I will start clearing my end of October schedule for some travel days...
  6. I haven't heard that name in a good while. Great pull.
  7. Ill take Dozier over one of Saladino, Perez, and Villar. Dozier ain’t coming to be a backup and Mouse/Shaw ain’t sitting. Villar is crushing lefties so he fills in perfectly. He will be nice to have as a bench guy. There’s just no room for Dozier. Unless Shaw is part of the package to bring back Dozier AND Gibson...
  8. So the Twins will end up paying ~8 million to Lynn for his subpar services and they get Austin and Rijo out of it. I know nothing of the two returns, was it worth it for Minnesota? Maybe it was still a good signing..
  9. The timing of a Moustakas break out tonight would be amazing. A little sting left for some in not getting Machado... so having our new hired gun help beat the new favorites in the NL would be a great look.
  10. This thread was a lot of fun to read through. I think he has changed some opinions..
  11. I like Brett Phillips. Seems like a really positive kid. But it doesn't hurt me to lose him when I consider he was hitting .240 and striking out over 25% of the time in the same league where Orlando arcia hit .350...
  12. "Some power" ... Lol Hernan Perez has some power. Manny Pina has some power. Mike Moustakas is a home run hitter.
  13. I don't know that this is a problem. Villar is hitting over .300 against LHP. Shaw shouldn't be playing against lefties right now and Moustakas doesn't exactly have earth shattering numbers against them either. Against LHP Cain (CF) Yelich (LF) Braun (1B) Aguilar (3B) Santana (RF) <--- come September Villar (2B) Pina © Arcia (SS) Against RHP Cain (CF) Yelich (RF) Moustakas (3B) Shaw (2B) Braun (LF) Thames (1B) Pina © Arcia (SS) That leaves you a crazy good/balanced bench on either day with (against LH): Moustakas, Shaw, Thames, Saladino or Perez, Kratz or (Against RH): Aguilar, Santana, Villar, Saladino or Perez, Kratz Those are both very good offensive lineups with one defensive question mark (Aguilar at 3rd and Shaw at 2nd) ... yeah Aguilar hasn’t shown enough to start vs RHP BUT THAT'S MY POINT. I left our best first half hitter out of one of the lineups to show how versatile our roster is right now. Of course Aguilar is going to play, but we can remove any person from our lineup right now and is a little bit of a shrug because we now have bodies to fill IF Shaw is actually going to play 2B. I stretched a little to assume Santana still has unfinished business this season ... but we can flex our lineup however we want to play the guys swinging well against whatever hand is throwing against us. If the plan really is to play Shaw at 2B ... our offense just became incredibly versatile.

  15. Exactly my thoughts! In this scenario.. do we deploy a Braun/Aguilar 1B/3B against lefties?
  16. Hoping for a "left handed hitter in Milwaukee" bump for moustakas. Happy trails Brett Phillips. Wish you nothing but the best.
  17. If Braun can become 80% of the Ryan Braun of old... it would be such a blessing.
  18. I'm listening to the radio broadcast and you can hear Madison Bumgarner grunt every time he throws a pitch and it is driving me insane and I think for that reason alone I don't want him to be traded to us.
  19. Weird thought... and this isn't what Milwaukee is doing... but has there ever been a situation where a team has flipped a player to free up future Rule 5 issues? For example, the Brewers seem to be looking at a 40 man roster crunch this next year and protecting valuable assets from Rule 5 theft. We traded one of those guys who would need protecting (Kodi) for a presumed 10-14 week rental (Soria). Is there a precedent for the Brewers to now trade Soria to someone else for a prospect of equal value to Kodi, who won't need Rule 5 protection this next year but replenishes the farm? Would be a interesting way to navigate the Rule 5 situation next season while keeping the value in your system, no? Again, this isn't what we are doing... just thought it was an interesting discussion.
  20. Any chance we trade for MadBum before the game and he starts FOR us today? That would be a great way to mess up their bullpen for the rest of the series..
