  1. Since when have they been talking down to us? Most are penciling us into a postseason spot and give us a legit shot at the division. We are getting quite a bit of national attention. I need to watch whatever networks you are tuning in to.
  2. Maybe this is the game that gets the talking heads' attention. Stop talking down to Milwaukee.
  3. I can't comment too much on this .. but I do remember Perez talking one night with Sophia or the booth or someone and the line of questioning was how he prepares each day not knowing where he is going to play the next day (position wise) and he said something along the lines that he is told the day before if he will be starting so he knows what position, etc. Now I'm sure that stuff changes based on injuries, hot streaks, etc ... but it sounded like Counsell preps those guys who are constantly shuffling a little bit and they know when they will be off?
  4. Kind of a tough lineup to predict. Saladino had a nice 'debut' yesterday but Villar hit well too. Perez REALLY squared the ball up and I don't think Counsell wants Miller out of the lineup multiple days in a row? My wild guess is he will reward Perez with a LF start and Villar with the 2B nod. Miller at short. Thames at 1B. Braun and Aguilar get the rest.
  5. ? Think Shaw & Thornburg straight up even would be win for us.... mix in Dubon knocking on door before injury & Coco is decent lottery ticket. Maybe it was suppose to be in blue? Up to this point.. Coca for Thornburg straight up has been a win for us.
  6. Born in '84. Laid in bed hours after I was suppose to be asleep with a little handheld radio held to my ear listening to Robin hit his 3,000th when I was 7. Took a bat and glove out with me to my backyard on COUNTLESS number of summer nights to act out live whatever Uecker was painting before I was 10. Signed up for summer rec league when I was 12 simply because I knew they were going to two games that summer and I would be allowed to go. SCRAMBLED as a junior in high school to the football locker room on the first day of varsity practice to claim the jersey number I wanted... Guys wanted 20 for Barry Sanders, 4 for Favre, 92 for Reggie. 50 for Singletary. I took 19 for The Kid. Spent a million minutes talking to my father over those years about how Sheets, Jenkins, Eldred, Listach, Cirillo, (insert name of any player here that showed promise) was going to be the guy to get us over the hump. I would do that trade again 100 out of 100 times.
  7. Dear Perez. Hitting the ball where it is pitched is a beautiful thing. Great job. Please continue.
  8. Seems a bit extreme. Why can't we just split the difference and have Chacin pitch to his norms.. give us 3 through 6 and win 5-4 or something?
  9. Two things: 1) The fissure on this board that would be caused by trading Hiura would be unlike anything we have seen here. Just saying. It seems a large portion of people would denounce their fandom and a large portion want the TOR starter for the push. I'm preparing for it. 2) I like Brett Phillips but if we are going to be making a move for a Dozier type ... Phillips is the perfect guy to headline the deal. The Brewers have limited to no outfield spots available at the big league level for the next 2 or 3 seasons if you are penciling in Aguilar full time at 1B ... Phillips is a guy who should still interest teams to gamble on.
  10. I wish I could brag that I said to pull him before his 3rd time through the order... but I don't think I was saying anything everyone doesn't already know.
  11. Suter doing Suter things. Let him finish the order a 2nd time then yank him? His 3rd time through has been the problem it seems. I don't have any stats to verify this but I assume Suter's ERA his 3rd time through an order is his achilles?
  12. I've had this discussion many times with friends. I don't get why everyone not named Judge, Stanton, Trout, etc are not bunting every time a shift is applied. In Thames case, hypothetically if he is planning on getting 45-50 XBH this year ... that is about 1 per every 9 at bats or so? If he were to bunt himself on at a decent success rate, he'd eclipse the total bases he might take away from himself in those situations... but two things would happen 1) the opposing team would lighten or eliminate the shift against him or continue to grant him first base and 2) he would be giving the best hitters in our lineup more at bats with men on base. I don't get why more guys don't bunt their way out of that shift. I get that a guy like Joey Votto is paid to smash baseballs ... and opposing teams are willing to give him first base. But Eric Thames? Take the base buddy. Keep the lines moving. Put some stress pitches on the opposing pitcher. Etc.
  13. Possibly, but that wouldn't correspond to this move. Orf needs a 40 man spot cleared for him. Sogard, Zagurski, Franklin moved are my guesses, in that order.
  14. Jeepers. My first instinct when I saw the offer for Whit was to really hate it. Are we enamored with WM because of the defensive upgrade and control? That is where the big upgrade comes with him over Villar I think. I'm not saying Villar is as good offensively as Merrifield ... but he is younger than WM. WM's career OBP is only like 12 points higher or something. Villar has a bit more pop. The strikeout ratios are similar, neither one walks much. Merrifield is a better player... but Phillips, Woodruff, and Supak better?
  15. You are joining a growing list of fans who have been calling for him since about last July. Others have pointed out, and there is reason to believe, they went with Zagurski this time because they won't hurt losing him when DFA'd in a minute ... Ramirez would get scooped up certainly if it happened to him. I admit I am pulling for the kid too and he is a better late inning PH option a few on our bench now. Give the kid a chance.
  16. If you run across an active freeway and manage to not get hit by traffic it doesn't mean you made the right decision...
  17. Thank you for the info. I never even realized you had to have a guy on the 25 man in order to 60 day and clear a spot for another call up. Strike one on me. Looking at the 40 man again, what is our deal with Nick Franklin? I feel like the presence of Miller and Saladino make him an obvious casualty as well? Are we not able to transfer him to give us room for someone who can help? This info should complete my lesson on the 60 day DL and how it is handled..
  18. If we DL Yelich .. what day would that be retroactive to? If there is any doubt in Yelich's return, DL him for the remainder of his retro time and get another bat up here. When your bench is 3 people and those 3 people are Sogard, Kratz, and Perez ... your options are sinfully limited. Also, I just looked at the 40 man and Dubon is not listed on the 60 day DL .. is that accurate?
  19. I was going to lose it if one of Braun/Yelich didn't return today OR the Brewers didn't bring up another outfielder. Having a corner outfield yesterday at the end of the game of Thames/Sogard is absolutely inexcusable if you knew you couldn't play Braun and Yelich. As someone said before, it is really easy to play the 20/20 game and say you could see things coming... but the combination of not having a bench and having inadequate bullpen options yestesrday was just poor roster management. With all that said, if Freddy can perform again today we can end up taking 3 of 4 and that is great.
  20. I'm not watching .. I'm assuming Sogard is already in the on deck circle, yes? Can't wait!
  21. ok ok... just need one of you two to hit the ball in the air to the outfield.
