  1. How does this shake up the dominos in the minors at 1b? Does Demuth get bumped up?
  2. I can't recall now. Do we have a spot on the 40 man open? Otherwise who goes?
  3. Thus far, the Brewers have done a really good job at beating the team they are playing that day. In that regard, this move effects the Brewers once or twice the rest of the way.
  4. Quintana followed Holland in their rotation and would have pitched Sunday for the ChiSox if their rotation held. The Cubs have announced Mike Montgomery as their starter tomorrow, haven’t said after that. Wondering if they throw Quintana in on Saturday right away?
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with you. The timing of this is a little funny too in the sense that the trade deadline is a ways away and so the concern of Stearns and Co. panicking into a move is a non-factor because we have 2 full weeks of baseball to play to see how both teams start the 2nd half. Not saying this played into the decision at all, but had the Cubs been able to wait another week + … they could have applied a bit more pressure on the Crew to try and match the move. Now we can get well past game #100 to determine if something needs to be done. My initial reaction to the trade is good for the Cubs but it has no effect on my outlook on the 2017 Brewers and our path to the division title.
  6. It was also their top 2 prospects. So another way of looking at it is Brinson + Hader + others would be the equivalent… which I wouldn’t have touched. With Happ and Almora already up in the bigs the Cubs farm system right now is bare of anything substantial.
  7. I'm hoping this gets this guy's account suspended for a bit. Waste of the board space and our time.
  8. Brewers get 2018 International Slot Pool Money from the Orioles Orioles get SP Cameron Roegner from Milwaukee
  9. This might be Madden's greatest trick of all time. He is going to throw Knebel for all 6 extra innings and land him on the DL.
  10. I have no idea if this has been part of the thinking for Milwaukee with the plethora of short stinted call ups already this year (multiple pitchers, Brinson, Phillips, etc) … but I’d be shocked if we don’t exercise the option to bring up another guy for the few days that Guerra is out, simply to allow another guy to shed the jitters of getting to the big leagues. Cooper fits this description, DeJesus Jr. slightly, Wang slightly, Burnes, etc. Bring the guys up for a few games and give yourself the chance to get them some game experience in a low leverage spot so they can get rid of the over excitement that comes from ‘making it’. That way when they are up in September to help us seal the division, they are here to play and won’t be as likely to be overwhelmed with the environment.
  11. Woodruff for the rotation. Wang for the bullpen. The position players look set. The one scenario I could see might be if Villar never surfaces and Sogard begins to plummet .. Dejesus Jr could be an option at 2nd, his numbers in Colorado right now are gaudy. He must have altered his swing? He is a repeat of Sogard, why the sudden success?
  12. Why don't we just stick him in the rotation then? His bat will get in the lineup and we can replace Guerra or Davies..
  13. They would have to replace Guerras spot which may just be with blazek The original post states he would be in line to make the 5th start after the break ... so unless he is going to need additional time on the DL we won't need a starter. Guerra just becomes #5 out of the break...
  14. Well the background check on Gray should be fairly straightforward... Stearns: "Mr. Vogt, yes or no?" Vogt: *answers* Stearns: "Cool."
  15. I think you may have misunderstood every David Stearns’ quote/interview/memoir over the last 18 months…
  16. It is a great point and a good discussion. What’s more, a guy like Santana looks like a piece to build around whereas will Brett Phillips ever be as good as the Domingo Santana we are currently seeing? Is Brett Phillips the guy we should be trading now of the two? Keon Broxton looks like a Mike Cameron clone. Do we deal him?
  17. Baseball is such a weird game. There was not a scenario in the world that I thought we would be looking to buy at the deadline in 2017 … and yet here we are. Our offense can score on anyone. We have a top 10 closer, a surprisingly deep bench, and a bullpen that, while troubling, can plausibly be fixed internally. Chase seems steady (if healthy), Nelson is suddenly an ace, and Garza is avoiding enough bats to be more than useful. It isn’t too far-fetched to think we are one starter away from having the squad to make a run.
  18. 56 mph "curve" from john jay via gamecast .. fantastic
  19. I truly hope the first thing out of Counsell's mouth in the post game presser is a sly "Glad the weather held up today..."
  20. Keep the pitchers coming … This has been the most satisfying 5 innings of Brewers’ baseball I have experienced in a while. The 8 walks are awesome. Needs to be said, kudos to both Aguilar and Villar. Both guys had an 0-2 count with less than 2 outs and a guy on 3rd and both got the job done. We have had problems there this season.
  21. Agreed. We're up 7 in the 5th inning, yet I feel very nervous with this one. Anyone else have that feeling?? Nope, this game has Josh Hader 3 inning save written all over it. I gave Larrivee's "Daggar" call when Braun went deep.
  22. I wish there was a way I could put money on Yadiel Rivera being the first bat off the Brewer's bench today. When guys get called up, Counsell uses them.
