  1. That was a hysterical route to the ball by Baez.
  2. Braylon Payne is awesome. After trading Yoph last year the outfield cupboards were BARE after Lara. Moving Josh to left and having Payne come out so strong to start this year makes me feel a lot better about the outfield funnel.
  3. Seeing that Aaron Ashby has thrown the least amount of pitches out of anyone in our bullpen the last 5 combined days is as shocking as Blake Burke leading Biloxi in stolen bases. Not throwing since last Thursday must have him jittery. Murphy might have him warm up in the 2nd just to be ready.
  4. I agree with this and I would assume the Brewers would as well. Makes for a much easier 'shuttle' scenario for their bullpen and you can also rehab guys against competition a few notches higher without having to put them on a plane.
  5. Do we think having both an Appleton affiliate and a Madison affiliate would vulture each other in terms of support ('I'm assuming we are talking about having both an A+ in Appleton and then an AAA in Madison in this scenario)? I live in Appleton now and go to double digit TRats games a year... off the top of my head if Madison became an AAA affiliate of the Brewers I would probably go once or twice a year? Between the TRats, the Madison Beer Barrels, and the Brewers that is a LOT of consumption for even big Brewers fans. One other nugget: Having half of your pro affiliates in a cold weather spot makes for a tough spring every year. The TRats are 3 weeks in and have either been rained out or have been wearing 3 layers for every game so far.
  6. I think the biggest difference for me mentally with pitching over hitting re: our system is that we have control over our entire MLB pitching staff (sans Woodruff) for the next half decade. A legit 8+ arms that we have for a long time... So the NEED for pitching prospects isn't as dire and we can be a bit more patient with the guys on the lower levels. The work never stops but from an arms perspective there is space to breathe given the depth and youth at the top level.
  7. Hamilton is a career .219 hitter. Perkins is a career .228 hitter. Matos is a career .230 hitter. Baddoo would be up here right now if he wasn't hurt. Black would have gotten the Jones call if wasn't hurt. These are exactly the guys you are asking for. It really sucks they all have to play AND are all scuffling at the same time because we are so hurt. Perkins, in theory, was the perfect vet to stash in AAA to start the year because he is that player - a guy who can switch hit, play good defense and hit above the Uecker line. Matos was acquired on the cheap to be that guy as well. "How can Arnold look in the mirror?" - he tried! He had the vet stashed in AAA (he had 3 of them!), he went out and got a guy in season who SHOULD be a bandaid. If Sal wasn't scuffling too we would have one less guy to worry about but as it is all of these guys have to play. It isn't great. We traded away Collins in part because we had way too much MLB depth in the outfield. Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell, Yelich, Bauers, Lockridge, Perkins, Baddoo, Berroa, Black*. Are we really this mad at Arnold for not planning for the April 19th game when Greg Jones and Luis Matos would both start for us in the outfield because we have already lost 5* OF options to injury before the season was 15% finished? Not everything needs to be someone's fault.
  8. Vaughn, Chourio, Yelich, Black. You are better than this! Even if just venting...
  9. Blake Burke having 8 stolen bases without being caught to lead the team might be the most shocking stat of the year so far.
  10. 30 pitches in the 1st... hopefully Carlos Rodriguez brought his big league cleats today.
  11. Little bit of a Sunday pickle we seem to be in here in the 1st inning..
  12. This might be the most Sunday Brewers lineup of all Sunday Brewers lineups in this current era. Miz is like the 4th longest tenured Brewers player playing today and he has been with us for about 15 minutes. Looking forward to it! Also, tickets should be "pay what you want" if your team's starting lineup doesn't have a combined .600 OPS.
  13. I'm buying up all of the Dylan O'Rae stock I can find right now.
  14. Which is an amazing asset to have as a backup. Late inning defensive everything all over the infield. I do think Jett has every opportunity to hit his way onto the roster whenever he wants to.
  15. In a world of John William Smiths.... be a Coleman McCade Crow. What a name. Let's sit em all down CMC.
  16. I've been waiting for a 20 game winner in Milwaukee for a long time. If it turns out to be a middle reliever...
  17. Will Childers is an interesting story. Drafted out of high school late. Went to college instead. Arm injuries. Undrafted. Brewers UDFA signing. Unspectacular store window numbers throughout the minors. Now closing for the AAA squad and has a chance. Looks like his fastball sits 96-97. Slider, Cutter, Change.
  18. I was hoping a Matos for Lara swap was the corresponding move for Yelich personally.
  19. I think you meant the opposite? We took Blake Burke with the comp pick.
  20. Uribe until further notice please. Get Megill right in the middle innings. Bad win but great win. Good job Patrick.
  21. The bottom 3 of our order right now (Perkins, Ortiz, Hamilton) are slugging .200, .208, and .200. That is... something.
