If Fischer gets shoved to A+ immediately this Appleton roster in the 2nd half is going to be box office worthy with the expected call ups arriving with him...
This might be a stupid question... but I guess I've never thought about it before. If a MiLB player is called up to the Majors without a big league deal ... I'm assuming he gets paid a prorated portion of the Major League minimum for the time he is up with the team. As referenced above, is that prorated $$ based on games played or is it days with team? Do they prorate the minimum over 162 games and they are paid per game they are here or do they prorate the minimum over the number of days in the regular season and each day up is a paycheck? The second thing makes more sense but I've never thought about it.
I love Burke. Being here in Appleton I've gotten to watch many at bats now ... just curious if the Brewers think Fischer is going to be a 1b ... he will be right on Burke's heels pushing him. Hopefully he gets a chance to show he can stick at 3b and this is a non issue.
Sidenote, I wonder if Burke becomes available in trade talks in the coming weeks with this pick? Amazing to have both but are now redundant a little if Fischer is seemingly going to move over.
I think some of our narrowing on who we want to deal really possibly changes before the day is over. Assuming we grab as positional player or two in the first 3 picks...
If we take a 1b .... Burke/Adams are much easier to deal. A middle infielder and suddenly Pratt and Pena are in play, etc
Let's revisit this in 12 hours.
Golly if we can win today and the Cubs lose and we go into the break all squared up... That would be a wonderful uncomfortable break for the Cubs to have to sit through. They will have a deal done for a starter before they throw their first second half pitch...
Man, I keep looking at bats to acquire and my eyes keep landing on Josh Naylor. He would cost less than Suarez by a decent margin and is a nice upgrade from Bauers. Our lineup against RHP would look so much better with Naylor included.
Myers is worth so much more than a low level bat.
If we take on the money Myers should get you Saurez straight up. If we ask for a salary offset then we would have to add something to the deal .. Carlos Rodriguez or a low level+ guy or something.
Half a decade of a cheap middle of the rotation guy is so valuable! As others pointed out, Myers has a better resume than what Priester did and we sent over a nice package to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if Myers has more trade value than Suarez.
Selflessly, amazing for the kid. Excited this enigma is happening here in Milwaukee.
Selfishly, probably locks up ROTY or at least runner up and we will lose a year of control. Great again for him, too bad for us
In his 17 at bats? Lol, ok.
I don't know who said Perkins was Willie Mays. The OP asked who would play left if Collins moved to 2b and I think there is a pretty clear answer right now that it would be Chourio once Perkins is back. Don't overthink the answer.
I can't speak for OP ... but the two scenarios in my head would be 1) Chourio (Perkins back to CF) or 2) This opens up a whole new trade opportunity to fix "the issue" if the issue is Ortiz. Instead of only having to find an infielder via trade, you can now get anyone in CF or LF and then shift the rest around.
Has site activity increased by like 4x in the last 48 hours? It has been a minute in my eyes since there have been this many active threads constantly updating. The belief is growing it seems...
The draft is this weekend and that can always play a factor. If the Brewers get another young middle infielder early that needs to go to A or A+ ... That suddenly makes Josh Adamczewski and one of the untouchables... Touchable? Then a deal for a SS where we are sending middle infielders back is more viable.
