  1. 1) You are deflecting from the point of the convo which validates my point, so I appreciate it. 2) The timing of mentioning that he is missed isn't coincidental and is dismissive of Cortes which again, given he was 3 pitches into the season ... seems dramatic for drama's sake.
  2. Man look at this inning, baseball is crazy man .. all these small markets get to have all the young athletic players who can run and all the big markets have to overpay for old vets who can't field and throw anymore. Baseball is broken. Thanks Manfred!!! Am I doing this right?
  3. It's not about spinning it a positive way, the inning sucked. But calls for his release, missing Colin Rea, Matt Arnold failing at his job, MLB being broken, etc etc ... everyone losing their minds like Alonso just hit another one on us. The inning sucked, it IS possible that it can stop there.
  4. Glad to see the game threads are in mid season form lol. Always a treat in here.
  5. This was always a bad spot for him to start the season. Nerves must be through the roof. All his former teammates probably know his tendencies. Tough to watch this happen still.
  6. Hope Cortes settles in quickly. Even for seasoned pros ... this would be an anxious situation. First game of the season and it is back "home". I can't imagine he doesn't want this in the worst way. It is always a little anxious to start the year until you get the first win. It would be a great Saturday night if we can take care of that today.
  7. I didn't see this posted anywhere else. When spring started I was really hoping he was going to be a nice platoon with Hoskins. Unfortunately seems to be having one of those stumbling starts to a career :( Hope he can heal up quick and give himself a chance to help us for the stretch run of the season.
  8. This seems like fair play. Hicklen would need a few things to go his way to get called back up here... the OF depth at the MLB level is quite good, especially keeping Bauers around while waiting for Perkins to heal up. Giving him a fresh start somewhere to get a chance in this situation seems a good faith move. With that said, I wonder how many of us could name the starting outfield in AAA right now? (I had to look it up myself) All of our OF prospects are in the lower levels. Garrett Spain, Jared Oliva, and Jimmy Herron. I'm guessing Herron is the first of those 3 who would get a shot? Plenty of at bats in AAA now for those 3 to prove something and for the guys in AA to come steal a job.
  9. My biggest hope is also in the bullpen. I think Uribe bounces back and combined with Yoho allows us to make Megill a trade piece at the deadline.
  10. Happy opening day folks! One of the best days of the year.
  11. I really want to emphasize that I don't think the following scenario will happen nor do I want it to. I think this is going to be a great year of baseball and we will be buyers at the deadline. I really want that to be known. However, there exists a scenario where Quero shines this year, the Brewers underperform/are injured and fall out of the race by the summer, and we turn in the craziest trade deadline of our lifetimes. We have 3 vet proven starters with one year left on their contracts, we have a very friendly Freddy contract, we would have an albatross of a trade piece behind the plate .. plus a few wild cards in there. In a break glass scenario, the Brewers could shed a good portion of their team salary - give the remaining starts to the young guys to let one or more of them prove their 2026 worth ... and in return have the best farm system in MLB by summer's end. Don't expect it. Don't want it. But I can't say I haven't noticed how the roster has been built this year (specifically the staff) and haven't logged it as notable.
  12. I realize they are probably just going to get enough cash to recoup our costs of having him for less than a month plus maybe a tip... But if we actually get to pick a prospect out.. even at the very bottom of the bucket, that's kind of a fun timeline -> Sign a guy for 4 weeks to a minor league deal and potentially get a prospect for him. Best of luck Mark!
  13. I think this is where my head immediately went as well. I know his price tag would be high, but if there is any friction between he and the Orioles right now that softens the ask... you have an option at 3B (which we may or may not still need) and if it doesn't pan out there seems to be a big opening over at 1B next year that he can run with.
  14. Happy for him! I want him to do well.
  15. I'm not too proud to start the convo. What kind of trade package do you think this would require?
  16. I wonder what the Yankees would give us for Cortes? (Blue)
  17. I do understand what you are saying but the Yankees made the World Series and Cortes had the 5th highest WAR (and top pitching WAR) on the team. So the Brewers either get a #3+ starter in a contending year (we will see how valuable that ends up being ) or as long as he pitches to career norms - we get a small haul of prospects to add to the bucket at the deadline. So I see what you are saying, but the rest of that trade has to be a full part of the convo IMO.
  18. Just really pleased with Quintana. I really wanted Miley back, but this is great too. Theoretically it re-establishes the floor of what the staff will do this year. The young arms are going to be needed at some point and it's exciting, but IF they implode this limits the number of innings in which they do so. At this price this is a high five of a signing. Hopefully it all works out.
  19. I say this as respectfully as possible, but your interpretation of this quote makes me think you have never played or coached at a high school level or higher program before. The reason I say this is because people respond differently to different styles of coaching and a good coach recognizes that and delivers it. For some people to maximize their potential they need to have an arm around their shoulder and to be told they are doing amazing when they are down. Other people need to be doubted and challenged in those moments, etc I'm not saying you are wrong - but if I read this quote independent of everything else ... my take on it is that Murphy has identified how he feels Black can be most successful and is operating in that manner.
  20. Appleton is going to have a fun roster to start the year. If Made climbs his way up there at any point the TRats will be must see if you are a prospect hound.
  21. Yeah I am not giving that rhetoric 4 seconds of consideration.
  22. I can't speak for the moderators... But I'll offer you my opinion based on the years I've floated around here. Amongst the moderators' main jobs are to keep this community enjoyable for all. That means a lot of things.. but an example is cleanliness. If the Brewers had traded Devin Williams and 16 different people started a brand new thread about it... It would become very messy to follow along with and to consume for everyone. They merge similar topics and convos together to keep the board clean and navigable. If you've had a post moved.. this is likely why. Perhaps before starting a new thread, check to see if people are already talking about it elsewhere and just add to that conversation rather than starting a whole new thread about the same topic. A second aspect of upkeep I've noticed is the "loud voice in the room" syndrome some folks can acquire from time to time. These boards are meant to be a conversation amongst a community, I believe. Everyone has the right to an opinion and should have a chance to share it. When one poster is responsible for a majority of posts/comments/words in a thread, it stops being a conversation and starts being a lecture. That is harmful to the purpose of these places. If you are having posts removed and are not sure why... Perhaps reflect to see if what you are posting is moving a conversation forward or if you are just venting the same fact/opinion over and over again and are stalemating topics. This is just an opinion. I could be wrong. Only the moderators could say for certain why they are organizing.
  23. It's like being hit by a car driven by your best friend? Holy smokes dude. Attanasio's first job is to hire the right guy who curates a team to win the World Series. Arnold is a good one. Attanasio's main job is to run a successful baseball operation as a whole. Arnold is the one who has the job to win the World Series. Attanasio is a support to that. We would be far worse off with a Jerry Jones-like operation.
  24. Definitely a misleading title ... I'd be curious what he weighed at the start of ST last year vs this year. With that said his arms do look jacked in the photo posted with the article. If Sal can add a little pop to his bat and his peripherals don't suffer because of it ... what a solid player to have on the roster.
