  1. Gary Sanchez will forever have on the best right handed home runs swings of my lifetime. Best of luck to them both!
  2. I am not asking for it ... but man how much would Cubs fans lose their minds if we signed Rizzo to be the platoon mate of Hoskins?
  3. I'm low key happy he is back. I don't think it will be as drastic a return but I'm expecting a Jesse Winker like rebound in his 2nd full season back from injury. Black seems a good candidate to platoon with him ... but I wouldn't mind a few more left handed scrap options (Bauers-esque) to compete in ST to win the platoon job.
  4. I agree with whoever just said any trade we make for Devin needs to be compared to the value of him staying. We shouldn't just trade him because we get offers. Keeping him means we get another year of an above average+ bullpen in a contending year AND a nice comp draft pick when he leaves. Any trade package we get for him needs to provide better value than that. This definitely is not a "take the best offer you can get at any cost" situation. The Brewers have leverage here in negotiations.
  5. ahh yes, i read that wrong then. thank you :)
  6. I could be interpreting this incorrectly.. but I would really hate to trade someone like Williams and part of the accepted reasoning for the package we are getting back is that we are upgrading Mona. Mona can be upgraded 15 different ways that don't require losing assets. If we aren't getting an impactful MLB guy for our main roster or an impactful couple of guys for our farm system .. then we keep Williams and get the comp pick. If an upgrade for Mona is a throw in to the deal ... great. But it cannot be in the double digit percentile as to the reason why we accept a trade.
  7. Do we know anything about Boeve's defense?
  8. lol I have no issues with people wanting a full time broadcaster and/or if people just don't like Anderson's calls anymore - but to say he isn't a Brewers fan and/or that he isn't showing loyalty to us by coming back is really funny. He could call any game he wants to at this point for any team and he chooses to spend his 'off days' at AmFam.
  9. I'm on both sides of the fence. This year's team was this year's team and they had a chance. Next year's team will look vastly different. Young pitchers coming up. Adames gone. Possible Williams trade. If Ortiz is the new SS will he handle it well? Who is the new 3B? Do Turang/Chourio/Perkins, etc grow or recede? The future looks great. That doesn't mean we had a chance at it this year and might not again. Fun season. Painful end.
  10. Are there still $10 tickets somewhere? I'm not seeing any..
  11. Definitely nervous with Tobias being a rookie and the lights being so bright. The whole world will be tuned in. I will feel terrible for him if he has a Suter moment. I'll breathe easier if we can get him through the 2nd with 1 or less.
  12. Do you give Haase the DH at bats tonight over the "0-7 against Quintana" Sanchez?
  13. The season is over if you lose. Everyone is available. If you trust Ashby over a 3 straight day Payamps then you throw him. If you trust a 3 straight day Payamps over Ashby, then you throw him. Yes, we will likely use the fresh arms. But if Lindor comes up with 2 outs in the 7th with runners on and we go to Mears over Payamps to throw those 8 pitches... I don't know what to say.
  14. Living the skinny life. Lost my voice. Was doing snow angels in the concourse after the GM swing. Rest easy tonight friends. Tomorrow we battle again and then we party into the weekend. I love this team. Come on Tobias.
  15. I took a half day and got a ticket. I will be at the proverbial village gate to fight if this is indeed it. If we live until tomorrow, will likely do the same. Not until the fat lady...
  16. My username finally becomes relevant. I will be on my best (worst) behavior and do all I can. We've made it friends.
  17. Is there a way to find out how many infield hits we had as a team this year compared to other years and compared across the league?
  18. I definitely think we will find out which of our starters won't be making the wild card roster as a long man. Rea might just have to eat 6-7 innings tomorrow for us and we can finish the with whomever else won't be needed Tuesday, if those are the thoughts.
  19. Sign him. Give him 4 at bats. Our fans would go crazy. Get him his ring. If he gets the 4 ABs with us do the Pirates have to pay up?
  20. ...and this is his rehab season. I often forget that he also is (was?) a top 30 pitcher in baseball. Uncomparable..
  21. I think I have arrived at this conclusion as well. They are both going to be very welcomed on next year's team.
  22. Ok. This will be my final response to this because it is silly we are arguing about this in a magic number thread. I was just making a positive side comment about JJ Hardy. Sorry! The fact I said he was a sneaky good power hitting shortstop and your response has been more or less "shortstops never used to hit for power so it isn't impressive" doesn't disprove my original comment. But I digress and you are right and I am wrong. Go Crew!
  23. I never said he was a better power hitter than any of the new crop of guys you just mentioned. I said he was quietly one of the better power hitting shortstops of all time. Should I rephrase it so it hits your palette better? If I said "I think most people would be surprised how high JJ Hardy is on the all time HR list by Shortstops" ... would that make it better? Because that is saying the same thing.
  24. I've thought about it. He ranks 13th all time in HR by shortstops in MLB history. I never said he was a better power hitter than any of the guys you mentioned. I said "quietly he was one of the best". Of all the guys who have played shortstop primarily in MLB history ... he has more home runs than all but 12 (soon to be 13) of them. What I said was correct, respectfully.
