    I know a lot of people don't like evaluating trades in the aggregate with domino effect... But our 40 man was crunched and this also opens a spot. Many will just plug Baddoo in and call it Mears/Collins for Zerpa/Baddoo.. but in my eyes this opened 2 major league roster spots and we have only filled one of them So Mears/Collins for Zerpa/? Stay tuned.

    Zerpa slides in as the 5th to last name in Brewers' history alphabetically only ahead of the Zimmerman's, Pete Zoccolillo and your A level trivia answer... Eddie Zosky. Will be the 8th player with a last name starting with Z in team history. If Zastryzny can hold his roster spot we would have quite the lefty combo. "The Sleep Brothers" "Double Nyquil" "ZZ Top"... something something snore?... I dunno I need a drink.

    My biggest push back against trading Contreras this year as opposed to next is the young pitching that performed well this year. Priester, Miz, Henderson, Patrick, etc ... a deal would have to knock me into next week to agree to get rid of the chemistry/understanding Contreras had with them. There is a decently strong argument we are protecting our rotation for the next 3-5 years by keeping Contreras for one more. Let the kids gain confidence and learn one more year with Bill and then let the cards fall where they may..

    The problem with arguing with casuals (and I say that super respectfully and am not pointing at specific people here) is that they don't know who either of those guys are or the process needed to run a small market organization like ours. We need to acquire volume and we need to scratch from every avenue to get it. A lot of that volume isn't going to pan out. That's the process. We could have traded Burnes for Ortiz, the Orioles entire AA team, 1% of the city of Baltimore's annual GDP, Under Armour headquarters, and royalty rights to "The Raven" by EAP and the response to Ortiz' development from many would be the same "we should have gotten a better headliner for Burnes, bad trade". It's actually why I've stuck around these boards as long as I have. Really good fans here. My daily life is filled with "If I were Milwaukee I would give Kyle Schwarber an 8 yr. $240 mil deal tomorrow... we need his bat". I come here (minus the in game threads) for baseball sanity.

    The Brewers giving Woodruff $22mil and the Mariners giving Naylor $92.5mil are not the same thing as much as you'd like them to be for the sake of your argument.

    You used one period in that entire rant and you used it incorrectly. During said rant you suggested we extend Vaughn AND sign Josh Naylor... so, you know, you're doing great.

    I can't and won't speak on the logistical side of what would need to be done. From a bird's eye view this seems to be the way things are trending for any team across all sports that has the space to create this type of destination. It especially seems appropriate for an MLB team that hosts 81+ big league events each year compared to an NFL team that holds 8+.

    So my understanding is he gets the $10mil from the buyout regardless... So if he accepts the QO he will be making $32mil next year in total? If he doesn't get a multi year offer from anyone and the best he is offered is something like 1/$25m... I can see him taking the $3mil cut to stay here where we will win and he is comfortable. With a lockout looming.. any multi-year offer that provides more security would be a no brainer for him to grab.

    There is a very good chance the Brewers roster looks the exact same next year. Contreras/Haase, Vaughn/Bauers, Peralta/Priester/Miz/Henderson/Myers/Gasser, etc I'm certain there will be a surprise somewhere and the bullpen will be re-armed but of any season that I've ever known in my lifetime, this is the most "just transfer this year's team to next year" roster we have ever had.

    Just re-sign Haase to be the backup for a month+ .. I can't imagine he will get another guaranteed major league offer. If he knows he will get 8 weeks in the bigs and will be the first call if an injury happens after - that should be enough to bring him back.

    Well, we have had a Peralta on our roster since 2012 so if any of the trade rumors come to fruition with Freddy this will ensure that streak continues.

    In 9 post season games against the #2 and #5 scoring offenses in baseball the Brewers arms gave up a total of 32 runs. The pitching was World Series ready. Unfortunately, the bats just never arrived against LA.

    I love Ashby purposely walking Ohtani so he could take care of Freeman the first time through for Priester. Great pitching ;)
