I think Yelich will have to put up a huge fight to play any outfield next year if he comes back healthy. We are so deep and young in the OF and Yeli fills the DH spot so well. We need to bubble wrap him for the rest of his time here...
I don't want to be too over dramatic here ... but winning these last two games might be a mini catapult. Getting trucked by LA would have been a psychological weight the rest of the way. If we meet them again down the road ... there should now be belief.
Holy smokes I am just digging a little bit on this kid. How have I missed him thus far?!?
17yo with that frame at SS/3B with the hit tool (switch hitter!) and power to grow? Goodness, can't wait to watch him in Appleton next year. I'm not saying it is Chourio 2.0 ... but???
Potentially a fairly good pivot game for morale with the fan base and this one. If the newly acquired arm throws well and we win, I think there is a big sigh of relief and arrow points up again. But if he gets hit hard I think the storm clouds are going to intensify amongst the fan base...
Wiemer going back to Cincinnati is kind of a cool thing. Hopefully for his sake he has a scooter-like revival back where he feels comfortable and can make himself some money..
It'll be interesting to see if he reverts back to his old swing or if he continues on with the changes.
Obviously you sign a guy and hope he leads you to certain heights ... but I low key love these kind of chess moves when they work out. Sign a guy on a 1yr deal for reasonable money, he pitches himself into being a top target at the deadline and (tbd) you get a nice haul for him and end up only paying 60-70% of the money owed. Fun way to restock your farm system if it works.
The Brewers just completed, what many could argue, their worst 10 game stretch of on field baseball this season...
.. and were 6-4.
Shake a few guys out of their slumps, get a few arms back and let's go make a summer run.
Man the reliever market is so barren, the few trades that have gone out have brought back nice returns. I don't want to trade any of them per se .. but Megill and Koenig have been so good for us unexpectedly (and Hudson but the IL eliminates him) .. I can't say I wouldn't be picking up the phone if teams were calling.
Everyone gets to have their opinion on things and their opinion is no more or less valid than my own ... what I can't stand is when they decide to take over the entire room and make sure no one else can enjoy anything.
I know they won't miss me but it will be nice not having to roll my eyes every 45 seconds if I want to hang around these game threads now and again. Go Crew.
