"yikes" indicates an opinion on the subject! Ashby threw 16 innings in Sept over 12 appearances and gave up 3 total runs. Walked 6. Struck out 19. Lowered his ERA on the season from 2.31 to 2.16 in the process. Objectively he pitched well to very well to finish the season - so the "recent trend" you are referring to must only be his 4 1/3 innings pitched against the Cubs, which admittedly, wasn't his greatest 4 1/3 innings on the year. But I return to "sample size alert"... because it is what it is. Not mad, just providing context. Go Crew.

There is definitely an argument for Hoskins over Collins depending on your preference. Perkins is your clear CF right now ... so Collins really has no path to playing time either other than pinch hitting. Adding Hoskins allows you to use Bauers in the outfield in a pinch if you run into injuries/necessity. So in my head the 'pinch hit off the bench' spot right now is between Hoskins and Collins ... and Collins offers you the switch hitting ability that Hoskins doesn't so I agree with his inclusion. I'm not upset folks who prefer Hoskins to be calling for him ... but in my eyes it would be over Collins and not Lockridge. Collins and Hoskins on the roster together would be redundant. Lockridge is here for different reasons.

I wonder how Adamczewski will take to defending in the outfield. The Brewers love versatility so much and his bat feels like it needs to be challenged at higher levels ASAP. This does seem like a good move for him to move up in the system faster given the plethora of IF prospects we have with/ahead of him. Excited to see how he handles the outfield.

I'm not worried about Patrick and Mis but I'm a little worried about Patrick and Mis. Both guys started all year and were in the rhythm of 4 days between games. Patrick pitched in 4 out of the 5 games against Chi! I'm sure it is nothing and they are both bulldogs and can throw everyday. I'm just saying ... I will feel a lot better winning tonight if we can save both of their arms. Mis especially as we are way over what his inning total was supposed to be this year. With that said, do what needs to be done to win. They were arguably two of our 5 most important players in the last series and we are going to need them both again.

My biggest wish was getting Myers back so I'm happy in a vacuum. Really would love Gasser to prove me wrong here ... But barring injury I'm not sure what he can give you that Hall can't.. repertoire/matchups/unfamiliarity I'm guessing?

I'm with you here on both accounts except I'd take Hall and Myers. Myers length will be needed at some point I think.

If the Brewers have success moving forward, I'm not sure it can be properly stated just how much value there was in getting our butts kicked in Wrigley and that hostile environment for these young cats. LA will be crazy but it won't be as hostile as Wrigley was. Our young ones, I hope, grew up quite a bit in those moments and we will be so much more prepared this week for the circus. -
HOW ABOUT THAT ONE FOLKS?! I ended up going to the game. The relief at the end could be felt throughout the whole stadium I thought. Now we go for the pennant. I love baseball. I love the Brewers. I love Bob Uecker. What a season.

Well friends, I'm signing off from here for the night. Going to try and keep my head as clear as possible. I am leaning on the side of optimistic that we will have another series to worry about before the day is over, but if things go south I probably won't turn the internet back on for a week or so... Just wanted to say it has been an absolute pleasure this season and very likely the most memorable season I've ever experienced. With that said, I fully anticipate breaking down the Dodgers game 1 starter with you all in the morning, but until then, good luck and go Brewers!

Hindsight is 20/20 and as much as I love having an opinion about things, the Brewers have a multi-year window where I will not challenge their decisions because they've been so good.. But how different would our bullpen look right now with Myers instead of Gasser? I need to have more faith but I'm terrified to throw Gasser in multiple situations right now and Myers I would have no issue pitching just about anywhere. When we advance, thinking about who would be able to handle the road crowd in Philly or Los Angeles might need to be considered.

I was just saying we won't have Quinn, Quintana, or Patrick. So unless you want the 3 guys at the end of the pen (K, M, U) to throw multiple things... The only options for any length beyond Ashby would be the rooks and throwing Gasser or Miz into this Wrigley environment is a white flag move.

Respectfully, there is no thinking here. We just had Peralta vs Boyd 5 days ago and we kicked their teeth in. They are the ones that have to adjust, not us. Run the exact same lineup out there that we did in game one and end their season. Don't overthink it.

Peralta is the only answer today. We have no bullpen to throw! After what happened to Quinn yesterday in a hostile environment, we are going to throw Gasser or Miz into an even more hostile environment and burn up the rest of our pen for a game five?

this was always the downside of the bullpen game in gm2. we were still starting a 1st timer in a hostile environment today, even if and when it worked in gm2. this was why priester in gm2 and quintana today made the most sense on paper.
