    My brother and I grabbed a couple of SRO tickets a few days ago for $40ea when they released more. We did poke around looking at some other seats but figured we wanted to walk to stadium to check out any updates as it is so we took the SRO. The prices to be seated are high for sure :(

    I'm not saying you are wrong ... but that is just so many lefties in the bullpen. If we are saving Megill/Uribe for 8/9 that means we only have one right handed option out of the bullpen for the middle innings? The league is 2/3 right handed hitting ... again, I am not saying you are wrong but that will be wild if true.

    I guess if I'm trying to silver line this... the Brewers were going to have to make some tough OD roster cuts as it is with how many deserving arms we have. There's no reason not to be overly cautious with him and give him as much time as he needs while we have the depth to allow for it.

    I think if there is a surprise (barring a trade at another position) it would be in the bullpen. They have so much control over others that maybe they try to hold onto one of the vets a bit longer into the season to steal some innings. A guy like Strzelecki or something..

    I'm happy to see the Brewers writers give Burke his flowers. There are some MLB sites that have him ranked as our 30th prospect and having watched him enough in Appleton last year I thought that either I was crazy or they were crazy or that we have the deepest farm system in the history of the game if that guy was our 30th best prospect. Needless to say top 15 feels more "right in the universe". A secondary note is the intrigue with what happens with Josh A. If the Brewers want him to make the big league club I think he needs to take on LF with everything he has. But he just hits and hits and hits. Third note is I hope Ginger Paulson gets whatever annual raise she asks for. Her name seems to appear more often than not on "the Brewers really found a hidden gem with this one".

    I'm a little leery of trading Megill at this point because of Uribe. I have no basis for this hunch and hope I'm wildly wrong but he is a regression candidate for me this year. Last year coming into the year we saw all of the videos of him working (living?) with Peralta all off season and that was a big reason why a few had him pegged as a break out candidate, he had the vet on his shoulder and in his ear. No reason to think he can't handle the mental part of the game at this point without Peralta around however I would love to find out before agreeing to get rid of Megill. Once June hits and any combo of Uribe, Ashby, Zerpa, Koenig, etc prove they can finish games ... then shop him. I'll happily wear this one loudly when proven wrong.

    The Brewers are playing baseball today! I can't remember if we usually have a separate thread for ST games ... but nevertheless, big step today. First lineup look: 1. B. Turang 2B 2. J. Chourio DH 3. A. Baddoo LF 4. J. Ortiz SS 5. T. Black 1B 6. B. Lockridge CF 7. D. Hamilton 3B 8. R. McGuire C 9. L. Lara RF SP G. Stallings Start the countdown.

    I'm just hypothesizing but I wonder if Rengifo (over Urias) having outfield experience also allows the Brewers to DFA someone like Berroa and free up a 40man spot for alternative use. JC, SF, GM, BP, BL, AB, CY, JB, LR, SB, etc... 1/4 of the Brewers current 40 man roster can play in the outfield and Jett is lurking.

    I have no idea what you have and haven't posted in the past. If you say I respond to you a lot I'll take your word for it but I don't recognize your name. There are a few triggers I have with fans in general and in this case the one you hit squarely is the "They are bad at their jobs and I can do it better but I don't need to prove it" response. If that is your general schtick on here than I likely have responded to you. My partial apologies if that has been our relationship.

    Heard about Joey's beard. Was not expecting it to be same color as Justin Turner's. Have we started a count yet on who is in the best shape of their lives? I did notice when Turang showed up the other day he looked like he had added noticeable upper body muscle.

    It continues to amaze me how many people don't understand the Brewers ownership group and how handcuffed Mark A is, personally, to spending.

    The Brewers just operate differently man. That is good or bad depending on the person. Obviously it has been really good the last few years and it is a way I enjoy building things so I've enjoyed it all greatly. Arnold is seeing market inefficiencies and exploiting them. Why is our entire team under 5'10 and 180lbs? Because Arnold and his crew saw something baseball didn't. Why do we currently have 5 LHP in our bullpen? Who knows. Someone got in Arnold's ear about something maybe. (I have a small suspicion that Koenig is a trade high candidate and Zerpa was a get to replace him... but I have no way of proving that.) We probably/possibly got a surplus of output from two rookies last year and decided to offload both at a potential peak in value. We kept some chips in Joey Ortiz being who we thought he could be when we partially gave up our Cy Young for him. We have shunned experience (save Woodruff) for forever youth in our rotation and it looks like we are riding with the kids this year. Did we have a good offseason? Who knows. Ask again in July.

    I was thinking about this the other day and was curious on thoughts around it. The last time baseball was in the Olympics was in 2020 and Japan put their professional season on hold so their best players could play in the Olympics and they ended up winning it. What would it look like from the MLB perspective as far as starting the season early and or ending it late, etc in order to have a few weeks off in July (Right around the All-Star break) where teams are on hiatus so all of its players could go compete for their countries in the Olympics? Would owners need to be compensated for the removal of middle of summer games? Would the time off hurt the product on the field when players returned? Is this even a desired thing for Americans to put their best players forward or should we just showcase our best college talent?

    I'd be very curious to hear what everyone here thinks is an appropriate place for the Brewers to end up in terms of total team home runs. We hit 166 last year which put us somewhere in the low 20s in terms of rankings. The Red Sox had 20 more and they were 15th so they were the last of the top half of the league. I think there is an okay argument that if Mitchell and Contreras don't get hurt last year.. we probably hit 15 to 20 more home runs and we are right there in the middle of the pack. Middle of the pack feels like a great place to be considered what we do best and what makes our offense formidable. I know a bunch of responses here will be "you always want to hit more home runs" .. and of course, but at what expense?

    I'm not arguing for or against this, but it would go against conventional wisdom to fill a pitching staff with left-handed folks who have usual splits against hitters because 75% (65% + 10% switch) of hitters hit from the right side. Of course, you could be correct and the Brewers have found some other value play in baseball that they are exposing... Who knows.

    Rob Z has an uphill battle in camp IMO. Easiest trade candidate of the group. RHB batters have a career OPS over .8 against him... so he is the one who is the true 'lefty specialist' of the group and we just don't need that currently with the arms and depth we have. Barring a trade of Hall or Koenig for some reason... I think we flip Rob for something cheap to someone. *edit: I see DonBarclay already beat me to this

    Am I crazy? I am not comparing the two obviously, but watching this home run swing (the one hand finish, the quick escape from the box before the swing is seemingly complete, the even & quiet set up, etc) ... I see an Eric Thames swing.

    Of note, MLB.com says Rengifo played in 161 games last year and at least one game at 6 different positions. 2B (74) 3B (76) SS (1) LF (2) CF (1) RF (7) He was a 2 WAR player for 3 straight years before last. Maybe getting him away from a 'realist' organization will unlock him as well ;)
