  1. Gambling. If we find out he can hit MLB pitching first his number doubles.
  2. What would you get for him that is worth more than his value to this season's team? He is going to be north of a 2 WAR 1B ... I don't know who is going to give us a 2+WAR 3B with team control for Andrew Vaughn. Our first basemen are going to likely provide over 5 WAR between the two of them this season. There are different ways to fix 3B that don't include blowing up what might end up being our best offensive position I think?
  3. Go back in time one year and imagine the response here if someone had said "in one year we will be discussing whether or not to give Jake Bauers a QO"..
  4. I am just now seeing that Spencer and Jim are talking about this on Twitter too ... I won't speculate anymore without more evidence beyond the cryptic messages Sweet offered. But if it looks like a duck..
  5. 100%. He is still just a baby in the big leagues. If we are counting pro at bats as minor leagues + major leagues, we have plenty of prospects in the minors who are 21/22 who have more pro at bats than Mitchell. The chorus of "he is who he is" folks could end up being right... but I would say we are a good ways away from finding that out yet.
  6. It'll be interesting to see how a new CBA would shake things up. If a salary floor is established there will be a lot of teams in the bottom half of the league who will have to add mid 8 figures to their payroll to clear it and instead of swinging big on one guy to cover all of that - giving 4 different Jake Bauers of the world a healthy contract might be the more prudent move - so Jake and his peers should have options in that hypothetical.
  7. Sasaki would be incredibly interesting just for the backstory.
  8. I don't think I said anything non-factual, I'm willing to be corrected. I think my main point is I think most fans are currently in "we need to replace Rengifo" mode and I think the Brewers are more likely thinking "we need to replace the production Rengifo has given us" mode ... and one of those options to do so is still Rengifo. We were a year early on Winker returning to form from injury. Maybe we are a year too early here. We took a shot at Rhys coming back from injury and it appears he may never get back to his old self. Also a possibility here. Just saying we still might have 150 more at bats from Rengifo to work through before his fate is decided if the Brewers think he is the best option to give them production.
  9. Cooper signed his contract during this absence. If Lara signs a multi-year deal with us in the next 48 hours that would certainly be newsworthy.
  10. I've wondered about Ebel #2 with us. Is there precedent anywhere with siblings coming up together in a system like this scenario would provide? I wonder what that would offer as a dynamic for both psychologically..
  11. I think the loss of expectation for the incumbent player might be a hang up with many fans. Rengifo hasn't worked out for one reason or the other in his first < 200 at bats with us BUT he is a career .246 hitter. Two years ago in his age 27 season he hit .300 in a shortened season. Why he has lost it so completely thus far is anyone's guess but if I'm the Brewers and my options to get a .250 hitter in that spot at 3rd are 1) call up Jett/Pratt and hope they hit the ground running 2) find a trade partner at this point of the season for someone who is struggling/needs a change of scenery (the Vaughn of last year) or 3) trust Rengifo returns to his normal self and figures it out/we fix him. I don't know which one is most likely to be the best avenue but #3 has just as much of an argument to be made as the right path as any other AND if #3 doesn't come to fruition in two more months then #1 and #2 can still happen. If the Brewers called up Pratt or Jett tonight to replace Luis I wouldn't blink twice but I don't think he is going anywhere until that happens and it might not be nearly as soon as most are hoping for.
  12. I never said anyone said anything negative against Shane. I said the opposite, in fact. I love the igt threads. They are a great perspective recalibration for me and endless entertainment. I will never be a fan the same way many seem to be who frequent it but that's why sports are amazing.. They fulfill people in different ways. I'll continue to poke fun at the mopes and expect it to be returned similarly... all in the name of #gocrew
  13. Worked all day. Missed the whole game. Just catching up. IGT summary from start to finish... Chourio needs a day off. Brewers defense has gone MIA. We are making an 8 ERA guy look like Cy Young. Gary Sanchez needs to be tazed. Why are we giving Yeli and Bauers both the day off. Arnold needs to be held accountable for this roster. Murphy can't make in game decisions. Drohan deserved better. Vaughn hits the ball hard. Why does our offense have to be asleep for half of every game. *Checks score* 12-4 Brewers win. 17 hits. Drohan pitched into the 7th. The 3 IGT punching bags at the bottom of the order reach base 6 times and drove in 3 runs. Half of the lineup had multi hit games. Never change IGT 😂 😂
  14. Same actually. I am curious about Sal, he took that pitch to the foot last night and looked like it didn't feel great. Toughed out the game but I wouldn't be surprised if he woke up today feeling it. Against the lefty maybe he gets a day off and Perkins plays but if Contreras is going to catch then Bauers will be in RF I would assume. If Bill sits then Vaughn/Bauers can DH and maybe Perk is given his bat back if we want Yeli to chill as well.
  15. Plum to peaches I could be wildly wrong about this but I don't think that is close to what Bauers will end up getting. O'Hearn got 2yr $29mil+ last off-season after putting up a 2.5WAR year with an inconsistent past. We can argue about the track records of both players and that's fine, but if Bauers ends up around that same 2.5 number... I can't imagine he is going to get less than eight figures a season on a multi-year deal from someone. .. and he deserves it and I hope he gets it.
  16. Batting averages for our top 5 in the order at the completion of this game: .282 .282 .282 .283 .281
  17. My math might be just a little off but I think we have doubled our team home runs on the season tonight.
  18. They finally threw him a pitch to hit. He might actually be Barry bonds.
  19. Can we please please get him back on a hot streak?
  20. So hypothetically if you are a betting individual and the Brewers are 32-5 thus far in games when they've scored 4+ runs AND we are playing a team with the worst team ERA (5+) in baseball - Brewers moneyline is statistically better than an 80% positive play. But of course baseball .. because we were one hit yesterday until we weren't and that stat still proved positive.
  21. Guys with a good tool bag will always be given a longer leash. Sproat's issues thus far have seemed to be control and sequencing far more than having hittable pitches. As others have mentioned I wish he could have two months in AAA or shorter exposure opportunities out of the pen but we are in a bit of a bind so he is getting a crash course at the highest level. As long as he is mentally strong he should be fine long term, it's getting through the short term for both he and us that is the roller coaster.
  22. With the NL Central mainly losing tonight this one was a fun steal. Also, it was not a fun steal because the warts are showing. Kudos to Bauers and Sal. Welcome back Yoho. Get well soon Fitz. Get on the phone Arnold.
  23. If you are a non Brewers/Rockies fan and you just tuned in an hour ago this is amazing baseball to watch...
