  1. I'd really rather not have MLB turn into a joke. This is NBA nonsense. I'm probably overreacting, but this is like a video game. How many uniforms does the average player wear? Just bugs me.
  2. Wow, I had no clue Bob Dylan originally wrote this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efQD-IIOPhw&feature=plcp
  3. I think he can still be successful in the right situation - in other words, a big park where fly balls go to die. I have no clue of the Athletics' level of desperation right now after Colon's suspension, but that's a possibility. Of course, there's the Kottaras connection...
  4. Bullpen arms in particular. De Los Santos, Kintzler, Sanchez, even Meadows or Stetter would all interest me. Hand has probably earned a look as a long-relief option. I think Axford and now maybe Henderson (and Estrada, depending on how they choose to use him) are the only for sure in-house relievers for next season. It'd be nice to have an idea of what some of these guys can do before patching next year's bullpen with 4-5 free agents.

  6. I find it unlikely even Scott Boras could get Gomez a deal like that. Guy's not even a proven full-time player. I certainly don't think he's "arrived", but the Brewer fan in me wants him in this uniform for the rest of his career. He's just damn fun, whether he's hot and starting, or not and part-timing. I obviously realize roster spots aren't guaranteed for "fun" players, but the part of me that enjoys the entertainment of baseball can't help but hope he stays long-term.
  7. At least this provides a little incentive to actually tune in to a Brewers game.
  8. Brewers memory: Sabathia's CG in game 162 + postgame Mets-watching in Miller Park Other: I want to see if Babe Ruth was really calling his shot.
  9. I'm sure he'll start on an offensive binge soon and he'll once again be the best player to have ever played the game within a month. Then he'll end up with the blank check treatment this offseason.
  10. I disagree. Weeks and Aoki have similar OBP skills but Weeks has far more power. That can get wasted to some extent hitting leadoff. Right, but I was saying that Roenicke will have him back in the leadoff spot if he starts trusting him again, because that's where Weeks has always had success in the past. I'd rather have him hit behind Aoki, but part of the job as the #2 hitter on RRR's team, like it or not, is to give away outs via the bunt. I'd only wish that on lesser hitters.
  11. If Roenicke moves Weeks back up it will be to the leadoff spot, not #2 - that's Aoki's ideal spot. But, as long as Gomez keeps playing well, it doesn't matter much to me. I don't mind having Weeks consistently getting ABs with runners on base in the meantime. It really doesn't bother me who gets the RBIs, as long as someone's doing it.
  12. Right field. Aoki to the bench. But it's way, way too fantastical to be real, I have a hard time believing Hart or Gallardo are going anywhere.
  13. I think it's crucial they get out of this contract. I don't know if there's any demand for Ramirez, but if there is, I'd take the best offer.
  14. Saw this earlier. Makes no sense, yet.
  15. The title may as well be "Something needs to happen". I have no particular affinity for Kranitz, and while I don't think he's really at fault here, if he's fired, it wouldn't really bother me. I used to blame Roenicke (or the rest of the coaching staff), but he really has no choice but to run out the same people. I can understand why the Brewers stick it out with Axford, but at this point, K-Rod and Veras can go. I don't think Loe and Parra are completely useless, but if they have to go, fine; just bring in some new arms - and for god's sake, let them handle high-leverage innings from here on out. The other guys clearly cannot.
  16. I completely agree, but I think an important component of the re-sign Greinke fantasy is that he takes a significant discount to play here. It's the same fantasy we teased ourselves last offseason with Fielder. We know it won't happen, but it's nice to dream, isn't it?
  17. I'm not the biggest Rogers fan, but he's certainly paid his dues. Good luck to him.
  18. Misguided? Ha! He proposes the Brewers trade for a Zack Greinke every year and resign the Zack Greinke to a long-term deal. Trade for and sign a superstar every year, win the World Series every year. Misguided? He's living in a fantasy world. I was trying to keep it.. respectful. Nothing inspires irresponsible personal attacks like internet anonymity.

  20. Extremely, extremely satisfied getting a long-term SS. Hellweg is very interesting. BP.com - 'One scout called Hellweg's potential, “terrifying.”'
  21. Everyone prefers Greinke. That is good.
