Obviously the Lions schedule is far easier than the Bears. Of their remaining 7 games two are against teams well below .500 and one against the Vikings. They should finish ahead of both the Bears and Packers by at least one game or more.

Goff is not an elite level QB and I am not even sure he is an above average QB. I think at best he is an average QB. He will probably cost the Lions a SB chance. The Eagles offensively look average and the Lions defensively are nothing special. The NFC as a whole is nothing special. I wouldn't be surprised if the top seeds all get upset in the NFC and the same in the AFC other than the Bills. There just isn't a dominant team in the NFL right now and maybe the Bills are the closest to that type of a team?

This will be a crazy NFL weekend and could decide who is the #1 and #2 seeds for the NFC. The Lions play the Eagles and the Rams play the Seahawks. The Rams, Eagles and Seahawks are all 7-2. If the Lions win then the Rams or Seahawks will be the #1 seed. If the Eagles win that leaves them at the top at #1 and the Rams or Seahawks at #2. The Lions have to win this game against the Eagles for any chance at the #1 seed and possibly the #2 seed also as the Rams and Seahawks have a lighter schedule than the Lions do. Should be a very interesting weekend.

To fit the Brewers defensive philosophy you would have to move Abrams to 2B and move Turang to SS. That improves the offense but I am not sure Abrams would move to 2B as his value would drop significantly by moving from SS to 2B. There are also other teams out there who may need a SS and are willing to play him there. I am also very skeptical if Abrams would even be good defensively at 2B. The competition for Abrams would be fierce and I am not sure the Brewers would be willing to give up Pena or Made for Abrams. I think you will need to include one of Pena or Made to get the deal done along with a few others.

If you are trading someone like Perkins you are only going to get back someone like Perkins. If you want to go that route then someone like Bleday makes some sense though he is a horrible OF defensively. A Bleday for Perkins trade would make some sense for the A's as they currently don't have a CF and Perkins could fill that void for them cheaply. Bleday had one good year for the A's in 2024 though he K's a lot. Bleday is basically the type of player you would get in return for someone like Perkins. The trade market looks to be rather bleak this off season for bats in the OF.

He is also a Freshman. How many Freshman QB's are ready to play year one? Most are red shirted and then start the next year or the following year. Even Arch Manning one of the highly rated recruits at QB was red shirted. It is not typical for a true Freshman to start at QB unless well you are a once in a generation talent.

Defense looks to be a bright spot next year. Still need to see more from Smith especially throwing the ball and the OL still needs work.

When has a Freshman QB ever been ready?

They were bad. Name a QB after Mertz that PC recruited. Then look at who was going to be the QB in 2023. Not only the QB but the OL was absolutely putrid. PC turned that from one of the best to one of the worst. The OL play started to die under PC there is no denying this and it is not PC derangement. Look at the 2021-2022 offensive lines for proof. I will exclude 2020 during the COVID years but that was another bad OL. Bostad couldn’t even fix those OL’s.

If you are talking about his recruiting then next year is the starting year to tell what his recruits are doing. His first full recruiting cycle was in 2024. The first class would be the 2023 class but that still had some PC recruits in it. The 2024 team was all his recruits. The best recruit they got in the 2024 class is injured in Kevin Heywood and Xavier Lucas left for more money from Miami. For the 2025 recruiting class hopefully the Badgers have their starting QB in Carter Smith. It is probably a year too early for Logan Powell and Hardy Watts to be starting next year on the OL. If Heywood gets healthy and if Powell and Watts are ready to start next year then that OL will show a huge improvement over the current OL. Defensively the Badgers are still short on the DB side of things IMHO. On the DL it should be a great year for the Badgers in 2026 with Clayton and Williams possibly starting and Ernest Willor should also be starting on the DL. Then you also have Posa at LB. On the offensive side the Badgers may get a freshman who can start at WR in Jayden Petit. The Badgers will get a big loss in losing Latimer at RB as it looks like he will be going to Ohio State. Ohio State has 0 RB's in the 2026 class and it is possible Latimer could start for them as a freshman. I am not sure the Badgers will be able to offer him the same plus the NIL money he will likely get from Ohio State will be better than at WI.

I think some are overlooking how bad the team was heading under Chryst. The Badgers basically had no QB and no RB recruits coming in and that wall everyone was talking about in WI was already crumbling down under Chryst. Mertz was transferring no matter who was going to be the HC. 2023 would have had a starting QB of Howe or Burkett. That would have been a disaster. Not to mention the OL was absolutely horrendous with no signs of any improvement. Defensively the team started to slip. The lack of recruiting and the lack of effort there by the HC really killed an elite defense. Leonard also needs to take some blame here on the recruiting side. There was only a few people at WI who were really trying and interested in recruiting PC and JL were not.

I don’t see how a trade for Wood wouldn’t include Made in it. I think Made, Pratt and others is more realistic.
