  1. I think the committee could still slot Alabama in over Auburn if they win over Georgia kind of like what they did with Ohio State over Penn State last year. The big difference here is that Ohio State had a hugely more impressive resume compared to Alabama this year so maybe Alabama doesn't get in if Auburn beats Georgia. I think Georgia beats Auburn this time and it is probably a relief for the committee as they won't have to make that decision of putting Alabama in the playoffs or not. My final four are: 1.Clemson 2.Oklahoma 3.Georgia 4. Wisconsin I think the Badgers can beat Ohio State this year as I don't believe Ohio State is as good as they were last year. If Barrett is starting against the Badgers I think they have a better chance than if Haskins is playing. I think the defense that the Badgers are running is better against Barrett than it is against Haskins. If the Badgers can force Barrett to throw the ball to beat them then I like the Badgers chances of beating Ohio State if Haskins is playing the defense is going to have to put some serious pressure on him and make him beat them with his legs instead of his arm.
  2. Badgers definitely won't be the 1 seed. The committee will probably put them at #3 maybe #2. If Georgia wins and Clemson wins they are #1 and #2. Basically it comes down to Wisconsin or Oklahoma at #3 and #4. The only way Wisconsin gets into the discussion of #1 or #2 is if Auburn beats Georgia. That also probably allows Alabama into the playoffs. Alabama then becomes the 3 or 4 seed with Wisconsin or Oklahoma moving up to the 2 seed. Could be possible no Big Ten team gets in if Ohio State wins. Maybe Alabama gets in if TCU beats Oklahoma and Ohio State beats Wisconsin.
  3. Don't remember that at all that they were not that impressed with Brinson, other than they preferred Jimenez over Brinson, which is totally understandable, and weren't going to do a deal with us without Hader, which is also understandable. I highly doubt they value Harrison over Brinson. From the people I have talked to the White Sox were not impressed with Brinson and still are not all that impressed with Brinson.
  4. I would do Harrison, Thames, and F. Peralta for Abreu. I am not sure if that will be enough but the White Sox were not all that impressed with Brinson last year when discussing Quintana with the Brewers so maybe they will rather take Harrison over Brinson. I don't believe you are going to be able to get away with not trading a pitching prospect in order to get Abreu. The only player who would be off the list for Abreu to me pitching wise would be Burnes. Maybe you could get Abreu for Ortiz, Harrison, and Thames but that might be wishful thinking also.
  5. I like Cashner and Tillman on a short term deal but I would rather the Brewers try and get relief pitchers over starters this off season. There are plenty of good relief pitching options in Reed, Swarzak, McGee, and others.
  6. Your analysis is completely off base. Your point about the acquiring talent makes no sense at all but thanks for putting in the old school baseball logic of if a GM really believes in the team non sense. This statement is just completely off base as you are ignoring the weighting of future production versus present. The value the Brewers would have given up was just not something Stearns was willing to pay. Stearns was trying to improve the team but not so it would be detrimental to the teams future. This has nothing to do with how Stearns sees the team today but more along the lines of how he sees the team in 3-5 years from now. If a player comes by and they help or improve the team now and 3-5 years from now I don't see Stearns passing that trade up or signing a player.
  7. Yeah that is the one bad thing about lojack as you can't transfer a lojack system to a new vehicle as the lojack system is registered to that VIN. Not sure if this would be possible but couldn't you just get a sim card from a cheap phone and add that to your current plan and just put the SIM card in the device?
  8. Could always go with: http://www.lojack.com I know dealerships here in Arizona sell a different one but I can't remember what it's called. It is similar to lojack.
  9. If the Brewers are going to trade away some of their young talent in the minors Archer is not the guy to target. Someone like Michael Fulmer who has 4 more years of control left I believe is the type of pitcher the Brewers should be going after. Archer just doesn't move the team's talent all that much from what they already are this was the same issue with Gray.
  10. Financially front loading is a poor choice for quite a few reasons...simply put. For whom? For the team financially front loading can be bad but for the player financially front loading a contract is actually better due to time value of money. If you expect to have a higher team salary in the future front loading a contract might be a better idea for a team. For example if the Brewers expect to have a higher team salary in 2020 than they do now front loading a contract like Arrieta would be a wise move as it will save you space on that salary then. Simply put your statement is rather vague.
  11. The only scenario that would keep an undefeated Badgers team out would be Georgia beating Alabama in their title game with Alabama only having one loss because of that. That is the only scenario that I can think of which would give you Alabama Georgia Miami and Oklahoma as the four teams.
  12. Just me or is this year looking kind of weak for the Big Ten?
  13. With the blowout that Miami did today I think they move up to the #2 spot with Alabama taking the #1 spot. The third and fourth spot are going to be the more interesting ones I think with the Badgers win today the committee could slot the Badgers in the #5 spot with Auburn taking the #4 spot. Georgia could also be ahead of the Badgers still in the eyes of the committee so I won't be surprised if the Badgers are ranked 6th or 7th for the playoffs. Here is how I see the committee rankings going: These are the teams that still have a chance at making it into the playoffs 1. Alabama 2. Miami 3. Oklahoma 4. Auburn 5. Ohio State 6. Georgia 7. Wisconsin
  14. Auburn will definitely be ranked above the Badgers for this week at least. If Miami wins against ND I don't see how the committee doesn't put them in the playoffs. The Badgers are better off now than they were a week ago. They have to win out to get into the playoffs. I still won't be surprised if the committee snubs the Badgers even if they win out.
  15. If the Brewers are going to sign a FA pitcher I wouldn't mind Cashner or Cobb. I think the Brewers could get Cashner on a 1 year deal with a player option that kicks in if he starts X number of games or is not on the DL for more than 30 days during the season. If the Brewers could get Cobb at 3-years at about $12m a year annually I wouldn't mind that. I would prefer the Brewers just go the bullpen route. Sign Reed, McGee, and Swarzak which would give you a back end of the bullpen of Knebel, Reed, McGee, and Swarzak. This would then allow the Brewers to put Hader in the rotation. The bullpen would look really nice with Knebel, Reed, McGee, Swarzak, Jeffress, Williams, and Barnes. That is a pretty solid bullpen with Jeffress, Williams, and Barnes being the weakest links and they are not even all that bad. Even if the Brewers are only able to get McGee and Swarzak that is still a very good bullpen. Chris Tillman is another option for the bullpen or even the rotation.
  16. My friend asked this to a coworker who believes the world is flat.
  17. I like it if Bledsoe can bring some much needed scoring from the bench.
  18. Cephus is probably going to be out for the rest of the year which sucks as he is the best WR the Badgers have.
  19. Wow something I agree with Briggs on. This is rare must go buy lotto ticket now!
  20. Bitcoin is now over $7000. Yikes!
  21. If the Cardinals non-tender Trevor Rosenthal I would look at possibly picking him up and seeing if he can be that dominant pitcher again. I don't want to see the Brewers going after any free agent starting pitchers this off season there just isn't any I would want to pick up.
  22. I picked up stock in Western Union about a month or so ago at $19. If I would have waited one more day I would have gotten it at about .50 cents less oh well still have a small modest gain of about 5%.
  23. I still believe the committee will still take Ohio State over Wisconsin even if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten title. It just seems as though the committee just doesn't see Wisconsin as a title contender. I still think if Penn State is sitting there at 1 loss and the Badgers win the Big Ten title they still get in before Wisconsin does. Just how I feel about the Badgers chances for making it into the Playoffs.
  24. They're both better teams. Frankly, there's probably a few more teams ranked lower that are better. But ad Brew said, win out and it won't matter. Undefeated Big 10 champ left out? I cant imagine. Both Notre Dame and Clemson will make it over Wisconsin. Both need another loss for the Badgers to get in. Don't be surprised if Penn State or Ohio State get in over the Badgers even if the Badgers win the Big Ten title game. The Badgers bad schedule and their recent weak play is what is holding them back. Not blowing out a weak Illinois team is looking pretty bad right now. If the Badgers don't blow out their next couple of cupcake games I don't see how the Badgers make the playoffs even if they win out.
  25. I think Villar makes the most sense. Prospects would be someone from A ball or lower maybe someone like Pierre.
