  1. Cespedes would make more sense here if the Brewers were targeting an OF from the Mets though that makes very little sense for the Brewers unless Braun or Santana were traded. Trading Santana just to add Cespedes doesn't really make all that much sense a little bit more sense than Granderson.
  2. What? Garza has a lot of surplus value at $5m. There will be plenty of teams who will want to trade for Garza in the off season.
  3. Connectivity means does it connect to wifi (network) or does it connect to a wireless signal (same as your cell phone) plus wifi. Nearly everything has Bluetooth now if it doesn't I would be surprised. You can also go the used route or a refurbished one if you want to save some money.
  4. I guess the Yankees can just throw their next World Series banner on the pile, while the Brewers celebrate their 1982 World Series LOSS for the forseeable future and hang WILD CARD CHAMPION BANNERS at Miller Park. Fun. Please explain how Gray makes this team a World Series contender? At best Gray makes the Brewers a WILD CARD CHAMPION BANNER team.
  5. Microsoft Surface Pro or IPad Pro is what I would suggest for not taking both are more than just tablets and are more closer to a laptop minus the size and weight of a laptop. The newest Surface Pro is overly expensive and if your kid likes Apple this is probably one of the rare times where Apple is cheaper than something comparable to what they are offering. The Surface Pro is probably overkill for college so I would go with the new IPad Pro. That would be about $800 on Amazon or $900 at the Apple store.
  6. Well the Nationals bullpen still sucks even with the additions they have made.
  7. The point was that Garza is cheap next year forget where he would be ranked as a starter as it is irrelevant other than comparing price for that type of a pitcher. The value of Garza's contract next year is a bargain and has surplus value no matter what type of a pitcher he is or isn't. Even if Garza profiles as a #5 starter you can't get a #5 starter for less than $5m on either the trade market or in free agency. Even high risk pitchers are going to have a cost of about $6-10m for a year.
  8. That option is extremely valuable to just about any team in the league especially for teams that want to be under the salary tax cap. The Dodgers would be one of those teams along with the Angels. $5m for a #5 starter is well below the market rate and only pre arbitration pitchers are going to be making less than Garza and there won't be that many available on the market. I think the Twins, Braves and the Dodgers would be the teams most interested in Garza this off season.
  9. Moving Guerra to the pen replacing Torres, Drake, or Peralta and bringing back Woodruff to start would make sense here.
  10. I don't think the Rays would accept this trade.
  11. Not entirely true. If the Brewers can trade for someone who can help for the next 3+ years they should trade for them. Someone like Dee Gordon would be a good trade target kind of a win now and is signed through 2022 I believe at a fairly friendly contract. I would eliminate Gray and Verlander from the list along with a few others. Definitely no to relief pitchers.
  12. I would like this move given Counsell's propensity to run. However, I would not offer a significant amount of talent to acquire him (Cordell-type) given Dubon is in Triple AAA and Diaz is still coming. A deal of Cordell and Villar for Dee is about the extent of what I would offer. I don't think the Marlins would want Villar and Cordell. I would do Diaz/Ray, Lopez and Cordell for Gordon but I think it would take a little bit more than that. Probably Ortiz, Ray/Diaz, Cordell and Supak is closer to what it would take.
  13. If the Brewers are going to trade for a 2B they should trade for Dee Gordon from the Marlins.
  14. eric thames can play left. hernan perez can play left. heck, even eric sogard has seen time in left. as suggested in another thread, i'm sensing it's broxton being optioned, but for less than 20 days to ensure that he doesn't burn his final option. Yes Thames can stand out in LF but it is brutal to watch him play LF.
  15. Anthony Banda to make his MLB debut tomorrow. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/diamondbacks-to-promote-anthony-banda.html
  16. Kylie Irving has requested a trade. Not going to happen but it would be awesome to get him. http://www.nba.com/article/2017/07/21/kyrie-irving-seeks-trade-cavaliers-chance-be-leader
  17. Ok now I am confused is this Dave Stewart or Steve Phillips? Where did I mention that we were giving up big prospects? Just today, the Brewers are connected to Verlander and taking on salary and presumably giving up no top prospects.... I see us taking on salary somewhere for pitching and hopefully a Kinsler type bat. Giving up anyone for these players is just dumb.
  18. Ok now I am confused is this Dave Stewart or Steve Phillips?
  19. How the offense has been going a steal there is a smart decision especially to stay out of the double play.
  20. Good hopefully they get him and we can close this thread.
  21. I'm not sure the Brewers have anything to realistically sell. Nobody wants Braun with all the injuries. Anderson is injured. Most of the other players doing well are pieces for next year and beyond. I guess we can sell Garza but not really sure what we would get for him. I don't want them to buy at this point but it seems more like a stand pat type of situation. Garza has some value though not all that much. I wouldn't expect anything higher than a Cordell like player for Garza so a C or C+ type of a prospect at best. Santana and Shaw have the most value. Nelson would be another option to sell high on though I wouldn't expect anything more than a B level prospect for him.
  22. Gray would not have helped at all over the course of the last 5 games. I am not sure how Gray was going to help the Brewers core more than 2.4 runs a game. Even with Gray's outing today I doubt the Brewers would have won today or even adding another bullpen arm wouldn't have helped. You are not going to win all that many games scoring on average 2.4 runs a game.
  23. Offense sucks right now it is either Shaw or Santana lately getting hits. You can't win many games only scoring a total of 12 runs over a 5-game period that is a 2.4 runs per game average. If you are only scoring about 2 runs a game you are not going to win many if any games over that period.
  24. That is a steep price for Samardzija.
