  1. You shouldn't be concerned if you are expecting a perfect game by this pitcher.
  2. At the expense of other charities. Well thank you Captain Obvious. http://c85c7a.medialib.glogster.com/media/53/537f75597185f0fb4a39358fda8272253cd7cfa992c1bea9fc5c6a9fe65a49c4/b.jpg
  3. Gallardo to the Dbacks for Brandon Drury? I think that is a fair deal for the Brewers though he is blocked by Lamb who is probably going to be the future 3B for the Dbacks going forward. Drury just made it to AA this year for the Dbacks so he has at least one more year before he is in the majors but so far in his 60 PA's in AA he has a slash line of .352/.400/.648/1.048 not bad for a 21 year old in AA. If the Brewers only have Ramirez for next year he maybe ready for the 2016 season and he doesn't turn 22 years old until September of this year. The Dbacks are going to be looking to add pitching this off season along with a whole bunch of other teams though some of them like the Yankees will be looking at Scherzer, Lester, or Shields but if the price is to high I could definitely see teams going after players like Gallardo.
  4. Should be fixed now I think. I should definitely not does this kind of stuff on my phone.
  5. FIP does not = lucky or unlucky. What FIP does is measure a pitchers talent on things that they can control HR's, Walks, strike outs and hit by pitches. What you are doing with FIP, SIERA, XFIP or any other stat is to look at another base stat and to see if that base stat is true. I don't like FIP as it is rather Home Run heavy. I prefer XFIP and SIERA over FIP when looking at ERA as the base stat. There is no stat that is 100% perfect or tells the whole story of a players season. You really need to add all of the pieces together to get the whole story for a player. Some stats do not tell a true story for some pitchers for example XFIP and SIERA are closer to Peralta's actual ERA than FIP is. Peralta is more of a ground ball pitcher and his FIP is going to suffer as he doesn't have a great strike out rate. I believe Peralta is actually performing close to what his true talent levels say in the results he has been posting. He is a borderline #2 and will more than likely settle in as a #3 type starter going forward so around a 3.50 - 3.75 ERA.
  6. I could see the Rockies and the Cubs getting into a 3-team deal sending Castro to the Rockies and the third team getting Tulowitzki with the Cubs getting a few prospects in return. The Yankees come to mind but I don't believe they have the pitching prospects to pull that deal off. I don't want anything to do with Rollins, Cabrera, Lowrie, or Drew. They are all on the decline and at best would only be a slight upgrade to Segura. Castro, Tulowitzki, Hardy, and Ramirez would be the only upgrades but you are looking at giving up a lot of prospects for Castro and Tulowitzki or giving up a lot of money for Ramirez. Hardy is probably the only player in that group that would be a decent upgrade compared to the cost it would take to get him. I would trade anyone and everyone on the roster for the right price but I would first try to deal Gallardo first before trying to trade Peralta. But I could definitely see a deal with the Astros or the Diamondbacks being a possibility for Peralta or even the Marlins. Peralta could bring back a lot of talent compared to what the Brewers would receive for either Lohse or Gallardo. Unless Gallardo completely dominates all the way to the end of the season I don't see a team giving up all that much for him you might get a B prospect and a very young C type prospect. I wouldn't count on anything more than that for Gallardo. On another note I wonder what it would take to get either Mike Olt or Josh Vitters from the Cubs? They are running out of room to put both of them with Bryant coming up and unless the Cubs decide to put two of the three in the OF which I don't see happening. It is an interesting log jam that the Cubs have.
  7. Think you're forgetting Peralta here. It's a nice problem to have, to be a Brewers fan & have so much quality starting pitching! [sarcasm]Peralta who?[/sarcasm]
  8. How I see the off season going down. The Brewers exercise their option from Ramirez but he opts out and the Brewers offer the QO which Ramirez rejects. I don't believe the Brewers are going to want to go more than 2-years with Ramirez and I think Ramirez believes he has another 3-4 years left in him. I would definitely not give Ramirez more than 2-years and that is pushing it unless some how the NL gets the DH after this season. I don't believe Ramirez will be with the Brewers next year. Estrada will be released or traded hopefully traded for something. The starting rotation should consist of Garza, Lohse, Gallardo, Nelson, and then you have free for all for that final spot in spring training with Smith, Pena, Jungmann, and Fiers. K rod will be gone but the Brewers will not offer a QO to him. I believe they have an agreement in place where they will not offer him a QO at the end of this season. This means either Thornburg or Smith will take over the closer spot. If the Brewers lose Ramirez to free agency I can see them picking up Headley depending on how much he will cost. I can also see the Brewers trying to pick up a left handed bat to platoon with Rogers as I don't see the Brewers bringing Reynolds back for another year.
  9. This was very hard to do as there a lot of players I could put in my top 25. 1. Tyrone Taylor 2. Orlando Arcia 3. Clint Coulter 4. Devin Williams 5. Taylor Williams 6. Kodi Medeiros 7. Monte Harrison 8. Tyler Wagner 9. Victor Roache 10. Jacob Gatewood 11. David Denson 12. Michael Reed 13. Jorge Lopez 14. David Goforth 15. Wei-Chung Wang 16. Chris McFarland 17. Brandon Diaz 18. Gilbert Lara 19. Tucker Neuhaus 20. Tyler Cravy 21. Jed Bradley 22. Joantgel Segovia 23. Taylor Jungmann 24. Jason Rogers 25. Ariel Pena Basically 1-3 can all be labeled as #1. I can't put Lara in the top 10 as he hasn't even played a game yet and won't until next year. I am hoping that some more pitchers jump up and have the years that the top 3 are having because right now we have a bunch of #4's and 5's still in the minors with a bunch of maybe #3's if everything goes correctly for them.
  10. Is that why Fiers has a 9.2 K/9 in 173.0 IP for his major league career, and a 10.0 K/9 in 483.2 IP in the minors? Not sure what more Fiers needs to do for people to stop second guessing him simply because he was a low draft pick. Yes those are nice but when Fiers is off with his command he gives up home runs like Estrada does. I am not sure what him being a low draft pick means to what has been said about Fiers. Look he is what he is. He is not an ace or even a #3 type pitcher he just does not have the stuff to be that guy when he is not locating his pitches. For Fiers to be successful he has to locate his pitches very effectively just like Estrada has to locate his pitches. The best comparison to Fiers is actually not Estrada but more along the lines of Dave Bush or Shaun Marcum. Both Marcum and Bush are very similar to Fiers in how he has to pitch in order to be successful. When Fiers is off on his command it is very ugly which is evident in his 2013 numbers though they were limited to 22.1 innings pitched he did give up 8 home runs in those 22.1 innings pitched. It is not doubting Fiers but more along the lines of knowing what type of a player he actually is.
  11. 1) International Draft 2) DH in both leagues (I can not stand watching pitchers attempt to hit a baseball) 3) Allow teams to trade draft picks 4) Move the Marlins out of Miami to Portland, Las Vegas, or some other west coast city. This will place them in the AL West. The Rays would then move to Miami with the Pirates moving to the NL East and the Astros moving back into the NL Central. 5) Legalize PED's. I am a fan and I want to be entertained not watch my favorite players on the bench or not even playing the game at all.
  12. I keep seeing this brought up but people are forgetting that the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, and the Angels all need some sort of pitching. The Angels are probably at their maximum so we can rule them out on the big name pitchers but Lester and others they should be in on. The Mariners will also be big players in this coming off season. It is not as easy as everyone is making it out to be. Yes the Cubs have the financials to make a big signing but they also have to compete with the other large market clubs. I am certain that the Yankees are going to try and get Scherzer this off season and at least one other starter or positional player. Sabathia is on the decline and after Tanaka the Yankees only have Pineda who has had a lot of injuries lately along with Sabathia. The Red Sox are going to look to at least try and resign Lester and will probably be in on Samardzija. While this crop of free agents is nice I just don't see how the Cubs are going to come away with more than one pitcher without over paying. Scherzer is going to get something close to what Felix with Lester and Shields getting at least a 5-6 year deal around $160-180. The following year the Cubs will be competing with the Tigers, Yankees, Mariners, Red Sox, and the White Sox for Price. I don't believe the Cubs are going to land Scherzer or Price. I think someone like Lester this year and someone like Gallardo the following year. Does that improve their team that much? I believe the Cubs have a good team going forward offensively but I am not all that confident in them landing a big named starting pitcher. I can see Lester and a high upside #3 or #4 type pitcher but that is about it for the Cubs.
  13. (3) at Saint Louis 2-1 (I like the matchups this week for the Brewers except against Wainwright) (3) vs SanFrancisco 3-0 (The Giants are slumping right now maybe the Brewers have caught them at the right time) (3) vs Los Angeles 1-2 (Probably will get swept by the Dodgers in this series but I think the offense wakes up and hits Greinke hard) (4) at Chicago North 3-1 (3) at Los Angeles 1-2 (2) vs Toronto 0-2 (3) vs Pittsburgh 3-0 (3) at San Diego 2-1 (3) at SanFrancisco 1-2 16-11 Brewers still in first place by 2 games at the end of August. September is going to be scary.
  14. Great call Nate, I am impressed by both the fact that you nailed this one dead-on, as well as that you didn't bother to boast your apparent genius. Well done, sir. http://img.pandawhale.com/60114-60-percent-of-the-time-it-work-sCGH.gif

  17. So you would give up someone like Bradley or Lopez for less than 1.5 years of Morneau? That is a small improvement to give up any kind of prospect. At best you are looking at a 1 game win improvement if you add Morneau to the team it is just not worth it. Morneau is just not a difference maker that you trade a top 10 prospect for.
  18. I am going to contradict my post I made in the other thread but it looks as though the Red Sox are looking for players who will help them next year. That means in order to get Carp or Napoli the Brewers are going to have to give up someone like Nelson or Thornburg and I don't believe that helps the Brewers all that much this year or next year.
  19. The Brewers have been contacting a lot of teams today. I have heard that Boston like the Phillies with Byrd are asking for a lot for Carp. Ziegler is not available and the Rockies won't move Morneau unless they are overwhelmed by an offer. Brewers would have to give a up a top 10 prospect to get Morneau.
  20. With the Red Sox now getting Craig from St. Louis how about a Bradley and the Brewers competitive balance pick for Craig or Napoli? One of them is going to have to be traded as I don't see them keeping both and Craig is more of a 1B than he is an OF.
  21. Wow...Seriously? Has Prado fallen that far or do you value Jungmann that much? Pitching prospects even low pitching prospects like Jungmann are at a premium. Plus Prado really has fallen that far and his contract is only going to get worse from here on out though it is not all that bad.
  22. Dbacks are unwilling to part with Ziegler. Schafer has very little to no trade value less than Weeks actually. A sign and trade of Yuni would bring back more than what Schafer could bring back. Jungman alone would be an overpay for Prado and Ziegler.
  23. I believe the Brewers are looking at Parra and he would replace Schafer.
  24. It is the Pirates from what I have heard. Bell plus one or two lower level prospects to Boston.
