  1. Right and a team ERA that ranks 5th in all of baseball is just overall a yikes. As a whole the Brewers have the 8th best batting average against. If you want to see some more stats on the Brewers as a whole pitching wise against the rest of MLB. Here is a link.
  2. What is Ned doing? You don't pinch hit for your starting catcher! You can't do that!
  3. David Ortiz being one. Manny Ramirez was lighter the last couple of seasons or at least it looks that way when I see him from year to year. Pujols has put on some weight from last year he looks like 2.5 Pujols's or a half of a Prince from his rookie year weight wise.
  4. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/natewwii/sabathia.jpg Did someone say Sabathia bobble head?
  5. Prince is behind had 35 doubles last season and he currently has 21 doubles this year. I doubt his weight has really been a problem for him getting doubles. If Prince only hit 21 doubles all year then I would say this is correct but he will end up with about 30 doubles this year.
  6. 2-1 vs. Mets 3-1 vs. Padres 2-1 vs. Reds 2-2 at Philly 2-1 at Chicago 1-2 at Cincy 3-0 vs Pirates 1-2 vs Cubs 16-10 Brewers win the wild card.
  7. So you are mad that Weeks K'd on nearly the exact same pitch that Braun did later on. Does this means Braun sucks now? That was a good pitch by the pitcher all Weeks and Braun could have done with those pitches were foul them off. If they looked at them the outcome would have been the same it was a strike.
  8. Not all fans are into the stats of baseball. I really couldn't tell you who was on the 1995 Brewers team I tend to forget those bad years by choice. I have been following the Brewers for all my life and I couldn't tell you a single person on the Brewers 1995 roster without looking it up first to make sure they were on it. Bandwagon fans are good for the Brewers. The more merchandising the Brewers sell the better. The more fans at Miller Park the better. I could care less if the person sitting next to me at Miller Park was a casual fan, a bandwagon fan, a Cubs/Cardinals/Twins/whatever fan (OK maybe I would mind if it was a Cubs fan), or a die hard Brewers fan. The people in those seats no matter what their agenda is are supporting the Brewers and that is what is important. The more sales for the Brewers the better the team becomes. The Brewers front office doesn't care if you are a die hard, casual, bandwagon, or put any other name in front of the fan.
  9. Can Brian Anderson please not say Prince Albert ever again.
  10. I would expect Jeffress to be in spring training next year for the Brewers but I don't expect him to be on the opening day roster though. Was Gallardo on the spring training team last year? I thought he was but I can't remember exactly if he was or wasn't at spring training. Jeffress like Braun will be at spring training but start out the year in AAA. I don't think Jeffress will be called up as early as Braun was. I would be suprised if he was up by June. I believe as long as there are no injuries to the Brewers, though I do believe that Jeffress will be near the bottom of the list to be called up because of injuries unless he has an overly impressive spring training, Jeffress could see time with the Brewers in late July, August, or as a September call up next year.
  11. He would be a pinch hitter and maybe a late defensive replacement for Prince. How much more would you want for him being a September call up. All he does is fill the bench and he is left handed I see no reason why being a AAAA type of player has any bearing on if he gets called up or not.
  12. I believe Nelson makes a lot of sense. Nix really isn't doing much I know its early but I believe Nelson will be a better option in September than Nix will be as a pinch hitter. But I don't see Nelson getting enough AB's for it to be worth it though.
  13. A win is a win if its against a tougher team or a lesser team. I would rather have a fully rested CC for the 1st game of the playoffs than having him playing the last meaning less series against the Cubs. The Cubs have the division just about locked up heading into September 5 games isn't that hard to gain on the Cubs but its not an easy task either. The Cubs are going to have to go on a losing streak and the Brewers are going to have to stay hot from now until about the end of September. The wild card is what the Brewers are going to win if they are going to make it into the playoffs and you know what that is fine with me. Since the last couple of years the wild card team has made it to the World Series for the NL.
  14. Cameron has been batting 6th lately and he was batting 2nd earlier in the year. I believe Cameron said he feels more comfortable in the 6th and 7th spot in the lineup. I don't have a problem with Kapler batting 3rd when he replaces Braun. I'm not sure who you put into the 3rd slot when Braun is out really. You are losing a lot of production no matter who you put in the 3rd slot. I know the batting order really doesn't matter I know someone is going to say that. Fielder should be hitting 3rd anyways but it looks as though Braun feels more comfortable batting 3rd and Prince feels more comfortable batting 4th in the lineup. So I say stick with it. Theres just no answer to putting someone in a spot because someone is out. Keeping Hart and Fielder in their slots in the batting order when they are in I see no problem with. I don't want to see Cameron in the 3 hole and Kendall/Hall/Branyan/Counsell should never bat 3rd in the lineup ever. So that leaves you with Kapler or recently Nix batting 3rd. Its not that the LF bats 3rd so Kapler or Nix is going to be batting 3rd its that the guys in the lineup already are used to batting in a specific order. Baseball is more mental than it is physical if Hart and Fielder are more comfortable batting in the 4th and 5th slots then why move them just because Braun or someone else is out of the lineup that day. Doesn't really make sense when you look at the batting order this way it will make you less frustrated over the way you are looking at it now.
  15. All the Brewers have to do is win 1 @ St. Louis and win 2 of three at Pittsburgh and my prediction will be correct. I almost predicted every single series correctly for the Brewers also only getting the Padres and Nationals series wrong. Hopefully the Brewers can prove me correct this week and take 1 game against St. Louis and take 2 of 3 from the Pirates over the weekend.
  16. Rickie Weeks and his defense is what annoys me but it is improving.? Rickie's defense reminds me of this.? Maybe we could get Weeks to watch this and it might help him.
  17. I believe everything has cooled down from then but this is what really happened in the dugout.
  18. The Dream Team would easily handle the redeem team. With Kobe Bryant being the only player on the team who can hit a jumper regularly I don't see how anyone on the redeem team could score against the Dream Team. It would be interesting though to see Kobe and Jordan playing against each other both in their primes. What about the 96 team though the Dream Team II. That team had Shaq and Olajuwon on the team with Reggie Miller and Gary Payton also on the team. I believe a game between the redeem team and the Dream Team II would be a more even match up.
  19. From Nate Silver at Baseball Prospectus put these two articles up over at SI. It is an interesting read on who they think are the top 50 players to build a team around. Braun (17) and Prince (35) are the only home grown players on the list and Sabathia comes in at 9th. Links to the articles 50-26 and the top 25.
  20. I love Cameron a lot but I think trading for Taveras would be a better idea. 60 SB this year so far is awesome. This would also move Weeks from the lead off spot which I don't is a good fit for him. If Weeks stinks it up next year out of the lead off spot then I say it is time to give up on him and let him go.
  21. I'm sorry but JJ and Prince near each other is just not a good idea. Plus if you move JJ to 2B you are losing his arm. There are not that many situations where a 2B needs to use their arm that is why players who have a good arm get moved from 2B to SS. You need a good arm at SS and 3B. JJ would be better defensively at 3B than he would be at 2B. Weeks gets to balls that JJ wouldn't even be able to get half way to. JJ just doesn't have the range that you need to have with a 1B like Prince. Weeks gets to a lot of balls that are out of the range of your average 2B. Plus Weeks defensively has been improving every year. You can't say Weeks will get worse next year when every year he has been getting better at playing 2B. I will bet that Hardy would have a harder time than Weeks does at 2B. Other than Hardy's arm he is an average SS at best. He doesn't have much range at SS and he would have even less range at 2B. Putting JJ at 2B is a very bad idea. JJ should only be considered to play 2 positions and those positions are SS and 3B.
  22. 1. Taveras CF 2. Hardy 3B 3. Braun LF 4. Fielder 1B 5. Hart RF 6. Weeks 2B 7. Escobar SS 8. Kendall C Taveras could be had right now if the Brewers could work out a trade for him. I'm not sure what Colorado would want for him though he does have 60 SB this year though. This would also help in determine if Weeks problem is because he is trying to be a lead off hitter which he never was put into that spot until he was with the Brewers.
  23. At 2B you can't hide Hardy's lack of range when you have Fielder at 1B. If you are going to hide Hardy's range then it will have to be at 3B and not 2B if Prince is still around when Hardy is playing 2B. A lot of seeing eye singles would happen if you have Hardy and Prince at 1st and 2nd. I don't see Hardy being a good 2B defensively at all and I don't see Hardy wanting to move over to 2B either. If you think the Hall I want to be traded thing was bad that would be nothing compared to what the Hardy moving over to 2B would be like. Think more along the lines of Sheffield not wanting to be here and comitting errors kind of disaster. That is what having Hardy moving over to 2B would be like. There is no way Hardy would want to or would move over to 2B when he will make 3 times the amount at SS than he would at 2B. In short Hardy is not going to or ever will be moving over to 2B.
  24. I wouldn't mind seeing Weeks getting moved out of the lead off spot in the lineup. Maybe trade for DeJesus and put him at the lead off spot even though I don't believe DeJesus is any better than Weeks is at the lead off spot. Putting Weeks in the 6th or 7th spot in the lineup could make Weeks the hitter he was when he first came up.
  25. You could put a broom with a glove behind home plate and it would be a huge upgrade over Estrada.
